Recent Beauty Discoveries You Need to Know About

I thought it was about time I had a look back at the new products I've tried recently and let you in on a few of my favourites! We actually have a really good spread of skincare, haircare, makeup and other beauty products this time round, so I hope my post introduces you to something new.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation* (3W2 Golden) | £35 | This new release from Laura Mercier has seriously knocked my socks off! If you've been looking for a foundation that has coverage and longevity but isn't totally matte, then this could be perfect. It gives such a flawless appearance to the skin without ever looking or feeling heavy or caky. It has good longevity, though does let a bit of shine through and starts to wear away around my problem areas after the 10-hour mark. The shade is spot-on for me, which is about the first time this has happened when I've been sent a foundation as PR! I really like that this isn't too much for the day, whilst giving a finish that's perfected enough for a nighttime look.

Playa Pure Dry Shampoo* | $26 | This all-natural California haircare brand isn't actually available in the UK just yet but keep your eyes peeled for it landing in Space NK soon! I was definitely hesitant about trying this because dry shampoos can really irritate my sensitive scalp and I hate the white residue they often leave behind, however this truly is invisible and traceless. Whilst it won't soak up the oils to the extent that something heavy like Batiste does, it still did breathe some life back into my hair, making it look less greasy and adding some volume. Plus, it has a delicate but beautiful scent. Overall I'm really impressed with this!

Playa Ritual Hair Oil* | $38 | This hair oil comes in a bottle and you dispense the product using a dropper. The dropper doesn't actually pick up a lot of product, however it's actually the perfect amount. I seriously over-applied this on first use and it did leave my hair a bit heavy. I think the lightweight, watery consistency can be deceptive because a little goes a long way with this. You only need a tiny amount to nourish the hair and add shine, smoothing away any dry or split ends.

Playa Endless Summer Spray* | $28 | Overall, I do really like the packaging of these products however on this spray, the rose gold logo completely rubbed off for no reason after about two uses - I really wasn't impressed with that for a premium brand! However, that aside, I really like the product that lies within. It's essentially a texturising salt spray, but it's really lightweight and not too crunchy. It gives a bit of grit and volume to the hair without making it feel sticky or heavy with product. I would happily use this on just-washed hair without fearing that I've ruined it until the next wash.

Iconic London Original Illuminator* | £30 | I actually purchased these and then was sent them so keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway featuring my spare one soon! I'd almost got the Cover FX drops on several occasions but for some reason the bronzed pinky-amber shade of the Iconic London version called out to me. They do suffer from the same 'issue' (if you want to call it that) in that even a warm-toned shade does have a silvery shift to it, however surprisingly this doesn't bother me too much. You only need a small amount of this and I either dab it on top of my foundation with a damp BeautyBlender for an intense metallic highlight or mix it in with my base for extra luminosity. It looks absolutely stunning paired with the Laura Mercier foundation too.

Elf Baked Highlighter in Apricot Glow | £5 | You might remember that in a haul and first impressions I kind of slammed this product! However a few of you guys mentioned in the comments that this product has a bit of a 'layer' on it that you have to break past. So, on the surface it's a glittery, under-pigmented mess, however after swirling my finger around on it a good few times, I finally understood what the hype was about. Beneath that it's a soft, pigmented formula that sits beautifully on the skin to give a stunning highlight. I think the warm golden peach tone of this is gorgeous and so unique, especially on the more affordable end of the market.

Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre* | £20 | I know I've mentioned this a couple of times already on my blog but it really has become an indispensable product in my beauty routine! It's an intensely moisturising but lightweight cream that's an amazing moisturiser but also a fantastic primer. It takes care of any dry spots, hydrating the skin and evening out its texture without feeling heavy or greasy on my combination skin.

L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara | £11.99 | This new mascara came out with a lot of hype and more than a few comparisons to Too Faced Better Than Sex. As it's a volumising formula (and I'm more about the curl and length), I wasn't sure I'd get along with this, however I really like it! It has a fibre wand that really does give amazing volume without being at all clumpy. It does still also give a nice amount of length and lift and doesn't smudge or flake on me. I absolutely recommend checking this out!

Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Fragrance Mist | £18 | I used this scent a lot on holiday and now I'm back home, it's perfect for holding onto that summer feeling! It isn't the most long-wearing scent, however this doesn't bother me massively. I just spritz it all over my body and it has this gorgeous warm fragrance with salted caramel and pistachio.
