The Everyday Makeup Edit #8

It feels like it's been a little while since my last everyday makeup post with all the other content I've had going up over the past month or so. However today it's time for another look at the products I've been reaching for over and over again this past month.

Base

I've been loving the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre* | £13 | as a 2-in-1 primer and moisturiser. It evens out the texture of my skin, moisturising it and getting rid of any dry patches. My base goes on so nicely over this, and looks nice and glowing. I still use my Bobbi Brown Corrector (Peach) | £19.50 | review | to hide my dark circles before applying foundation but I've actually been going for something other than the Estee Lauder cushion as a base for once! This month I've been reaching a lot for the Clinique Chubby in the Nude Stick Foundation (Grandest Golden Neutral) | £24 | full review. I just swipe it directly on the skin and buff it out using the amazing Iconic London Pro-Evo Buffer Brush* | £32.99 | for a flawless, even finish in seconds. It's got a good medium coverage but also looks really nice and natural at the same time. It has a glowing, satin finish, though can let through a bit of shine during the day.

As per usual, I've been using my Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Ginger) | £23 | which you can read about here. I absolutely love it and it's a perfect quick, easy and natural everyday option. Under the eyes I love brightening things up with the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer (Nude) | £8.99. It has such a light, fluffy, fresh texture but still gives really nice coverage. It's quite a hydrating concealer so I set it with my usual MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural (Medium Dark) | £24.50 | which is a lightweight coloured face powder. It sets my makeup and removes the shine without leaving my skin looking flat and lifeless. Plus, it's impossible to go overboard with this formula! Finally (after I've applied the rest of my face makeup) I've been using the Cover FX Illuminating Setting Spray* | £22. I actually really like the fresh, glowing look this gives my makeup. I wouldn't say it increases longevity but that's not a deal-breaker for me. One thing I would say though is that you need to give this a REALLY good shake before using it, as otherwise you might end up with some flecks of shimmer on the skin!

Cheeks

I recently dug my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow | £39 | back out. This version is no longer available but Sundipped has very similar shades. This is virtually a lifetime supply of highlighter as the pans are huge! You get four shades: a vibrant, almost duo-chrome yellow gold, a deeper, more bronze-toned gold and two champagne shades (they're very similar but one is more golden and the other slightly cooler). The formula of these highlighters is consistent throughout the palette; it's a dewy (but not glittery) finish and the consistency is very nice and smooth, giving a natural glow to the skin.

I've found myself reaching for the YSL Les Sahariennes Blur Bronzer in 06 | £32 | so much lately - I'm gutted it's being discontinued! I love applying it with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, as it's a cream formula. It's completely free of any shimmer and has a mousse-like formula, giving a fresh, dewy look without being greasy and has great pigmentation. It gives natural warmth to my skin and goes on nice and evenly. Continuing the cream trend, I've also been enjoying the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk | $18. I actually avoid powdering where I'm placing a cream product (if I do then I go back in afterwards) as they apply best directly onto foundation. This is a liquid formula that's so natural, it's almost like a more dewy version of a stain. It's a dusky peachy-nude tone that's perfect for everyday wear and it lasts nicely on my skin.

Eyes

My current priming duo is the Urban Decay Original Eye Primer Potion | £17 | & MAC Peintures Paint in Bamboom | £16. I've been using these two for a while (you can read about them here) with the Urban Decay as a traditional sheer primer and the cream eyeshadow as a base, with the pinky-brown colour evening out the tone of my lids. I'm absolutely gutted this is being discontinued - I'm going to have to find a replacement!

In terms of eyeshadow, I've been using the Pixi It's Eye Time Palette* | £28. The shadows are nice and creamy and easy to work with (both the mattes and shimmers). The shade selection is perfect as it contains a mix of warm and cool nudes that can take you from day to night. I also think the balance of mattes and shimmers in here is perfect. If I had one negative it would be that, although the colour payoff is spot-on for me, I don't find them to be the most long-wearing shadows in my collection.

I'm still using the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black | £14.50 | for my winged liner and the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smog | £15.50 | on the lower lash line, which are in last month's post. I ran out of my Stila crayon liner but before repurchasing I thought I'd finish up the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner | £3.99 (as a side-note: apologies I accidentally got the labelling of this and the Stila liquid liner the wrong way round in the below swatch photo - sorry!) It's seriously pigmented and has a very creamy formula so applies smoothly to the water line to make my lashes look fuller and my winged liner blacker. I don't find it to be as smudge and transfer-proof, but for £4 it's a pretty decent product.

I've been back on my old favourite: the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £8.99. It's just perfect for me, as it somehow both gives volume and separation and gives amazing lift and length. No matter what the occasion, it always works for me and I like that it doesn't smudge or flake.

In terms of brows, I've been using my Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil (04)* | £20 | & Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Gel (03)* | £20. I love this large, slanted brow pencil - it shouldn't work but somehow does! It's really easy to angle this to get a good shape going and whilst it gives a bold look, it isn't over-the-top. The formula has the perfect consistency; it's soft enough to get the colour payoff but doesn't smudge or look messy. I also really like the tone as it's natural and not too warm. Gimme Brow is great on its own if I've just had a tint or otherwise, I just use it to set. It gives soft (not at all crispy) hold and volume as well as adding a hint of natural colour.

Lips

I've been alternating between the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel | £18 | & ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Strip | $6. Curviest Caramel is more pigmented than the standard Chubby Stick formula and feels nice and nourishing on the lips. It's a more sheer, everyday option that's quick and easy to apply and re-apply. It's a warm, natural pinky-nude colour that goes with a lot of makeup looks. For something slightly bolder, I like to opt for Strip. The formula is creamy and one step down from being a true matte liquid lip. Although it doesn't really have a sheen, it feels much softer and like a normal lipstick, despite being really long-wearing. The shade is a warm beige colour with a pink undertone.
