The Everyday Makeup Edit #4

It's time to fill you in again on the makeup I've been reaching for the most lately and there are lots of new products in the mix to tell you about this month!

Base

I have a new go-to prep product this month and it's the Glossier Priming Moisturiser | $25 | UK shipping. This has a really interesting formula because although very hydrating, it isn't a super-creamy primer and is very lightweight. It actually has a good amount of hold to it, ensuring my base lasts as long as possible (though it admittedly won't do much for pores or fine lines). Next I go in with my usual Bobbi Brown Corrector (Peach) | £19.50 | - at risk of boring you with this again, check out my thoughts on that here. This just neutralises the blue tone of my dark circles so I don't have to layer on loads of skin-toned concealer. Next I've been back on the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (Stromboli) | £32 | review. It's like a habit I can't quite kick! Every time I go back to using this I'm wowed at how flawless it makes my skin look without being at all heavy. The satin finish is perfect for my combination skin; keeping the shine at bay without being drying or flat. This provides a medium coverage which suits me for day-to-day wear.

There's been a bit of a concealer shake-up in my makeup collection recently! I repurchased the Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Eraser Concealer (Nude) | £7.99 | this month and I can't believe I forgot how great this is. It's just so affordable, though with that comes a very limited shade range, and has such a great texture. It's light, fluffy and never looks caky. The applicator practically blends the product out for you and it has a nice medium coverage to brighten up under the eyes. It can crease a little but on my skin personally, that seems to be inevitable... For blemishes my new favourite is the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Ginger) | £23. I wasn't even planning on picking this up but I had some ASOS A-List £5 vouchers to use and you also get student discount on their site. As I'd run out of my Urban Decay, I thought it was worth a shot. This is a potted concealer with a mousse-like texture. It's not too dry but neither is it greasy and it has great staying-power, with a medium-full coverage.

I then set my makeup with my usual MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural (Medium-Dark) | £24.50. You can read about it here but essentially it sets my makeup whilst still being nice and luminous. Although I apply it after everything else, I also wanted to mention the MAC Mini Fix + in Coconut | £10 | I picked up in Duty Free recently. I'm a huge fan of Fix + for making my skin look fresh and my makeup seamless (though I wouldn't say it makes it last particularly longer), and the subtle scent is gorgeous! (Let's please make this permanent...)

Cheeks

For highlighting I've really been enjoying the Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder in Day Glow | £12.99. Whilst it's not quite as affordable as traditional drugstore offerings, I personally think this is worth the extra! It gives a subtle but still noticeable glow. There's no glitter here, just a soft luminosity. This shade is a gorgeous warm light gold. For bronzer I've been back to what I think must now be my all-time favourite: the Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion (30M Sienna) | £28. It has the most incredibly smooth consistency and blends out beautifully; there's just something about how this sits on the skin that's so incredibly natural. This shade is perfect for me because it adds warmth but isn't too orange, so you can still use it to get some definition.

I've had a few blusher options in the mix. The first is of course the Too Faced Papa Don't Peach Blush | £25. I've made a serious dent in this and I've only had it a couple of months! It's such a great one to grab for when I don't know what to go for; the warm peach shade with a subtle sheen is perfect with so many of my favourite makeup looks. It's so quick and easy to apply; I love the smooth formula and it doesn't break up or go patchy during the day. Otherwise, I've of course been reaching for my Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blush Palette | £59. This contains 3 shades: a light vibrant peach, a bronzed-nude and a plum. They're all in the amazing, luminous Hourglass blush formula that gives an amazing glow from within to the skin. These really breath life into my skin and lift my complexion. They don't fade much on me and I've been reaching for Brilliant Nude the most recently.

Eyes

Regular readers will know I always prime my eyes with the Urban Decay Primer Potion (Original) | £17 | and Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Taupe | £23 | which you can read about here.

My most-used palette over the past few weeks has easily been the Zoeva Naturally Yours Eyeshadow Palette | £18 | review. I recently rediscovered this and it's really up there with Cocoa Blend for me as a highlight of Zoeva's range of eyeshadow palettes. At a glance it looks like a standard soft neutral collection of colours but the duo chrome shades in here really do elevate my everyday eye looks to another level, making them a little more special. I absolutely love Zoeva's eyeshadow formula; the mattes are creamy and blend out easily and the shimmers are just so pigmented!

In terms of liner I've been using a one of the darker shades on a flat shader brush from the eyeshadow palette for the bottom lash line. I of course use my trusty Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black | £14.50 | (read about it here) for my winged liner. I'm also still using Colourpop Creme Gel Pencil Liner in Swerve | $5 | (check it out here). I recently repurchased my ultimate favourite mascara: Maybelline Lash Sensational | £7.99 | so of course that's all I've been using this month! It just gives me incredible length and curl without flaking or smudging at all. I also love the separated volume it gives my lashes.

I have two new brow products to talk about today, and I rarely switch things up in this area! I'd actually forgot to pack a brow pencil on a trip home so quickly dashed to get something at the station in Birmingham and ended up grabbing the KIKO Precision Eyebrow Pencil (02 Dark Chestnut) | £5.90. I must confess I'm a bit confused as the website said I should've got a sharpener in this and I didn't! This is actually really awkward to sharpen as it's too small for my usual tools, which had been my only negative. Anyway, I'm seriously impressed with the quality of this, especially for the price tag! The pencil is such a good colour for my darkest brown hair and the consistency is perfect; pigmented but not too soft. It's pretty much impossible to apply too much and go overboard and it also has a little brush to ensure everything looks natural. I've then been setting it with the Glossier Boy Brow (Brown) | $16 | UK shipping. This gel has the tiniest little brush and gives really good hold, making my brows look thicker and darker without giving them a crispy finish.

Lips

I've had a few different lip options on the go recently and have found it hard to commit but there are 3 that stood out the me. The first is the Dose of Colors Matte Lipstick in Truffle | £14.50 | which annoyingly seems to have vanished off the BeautyBay website for us UK-ers! It's a gorgeous brown-pink nude liquid lipstick and I love this formula. It's quite fluid but sets down and looks completely matte (and has amazing wear-time) whilst still being so comfortable and non-drying. On low-maintenance day I've been reaching for the Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Leo | $18 | UK shipping. This has a balm-like sheer texture but still gives a matte finish so has a stain appearance. The colour is a warm brown so goes with a lot of my makeup looks. Finally I've been enjoying a more peachy nude option in the form of ColourPop's Matte Lippie Stick in RAYEzor | $5 | which has sadly been discontinued! The 'matte' formula is still quite creamy, very comfortable and has a sheen but is completely opaque.

  6. I really, really need to try out Nars Sheer Glow once I run out of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. Every time I read a post that mentions it I think to myself that I desperately want to get it haha.
I love the shades you've been going for in lipsticks, especially Truffle - Leo by Glossier is just a tad too sheer for me!

  13. I have a small area of a dark blue in the corner of my eye that normal concealer just doesn't cover, I definitely need to try a colour corrector! Think I might try a more affordable option first and then look into the Bobbi Brown colour corrector, it seems to be a cult classic! So many fab products, sweet sound from the Zoeva palette is beautiful!
