The latest instalment of my most reached-for series is all about blushers. Admittedly, I do have two or three colour families I tend to gravitate towards! I've tried not to think too consciously about the products I've included and instead just grabbed the blushers I find myself picking up over and over again.
Too Faced Papa Don't Peach Blush | £25 | This is a newer addition but one that's more than earned its place in this post given how much I've used it! It's so understated, which makes it perfect for everyday wear and that's probably why I gravitate towards it so much. It's a warm peach tone with a very subtle, slightly iridescent sheen running through it. The formula is very smooth and easy to apply - it never goes patchy (upon application or even after hours of wear) and never looks over the top.
Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Fig Pop | $23 | Annoyingly, this particular shade isn't available in the UK but about half of the collection is and the formula is UH-MA-ZING - so I definitely recommend grabbing at least one of these (Ginger Pop | £17 | is a close second for me, and you can check that out here). Anyway, what I love about this formula is that it's both pigmented and blends so easily! A lot of pigmented and brighter blushers have to be approached with caution because one swipe could have you looking like a clown, but not with these. It's possibly because they have a slight sheen to them, but they go on so smoothly. They also wear incredibly well and this shade in particular is a warm plum-mauve tone.
Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love | £25 | Too Faced seriously know how to make blushers because they have another entry on this list. This has the *tiniest* sheen but appears matte on the cheeks and has a crumbly texture (in the best possible way). It blends effortlessly on the skin and has seriously impressive staying-power. The shade is admittedly 'nothing special' but perhaps that's why I keep reaching for it; whether it's on a work day or to pair with a bold lip or smoky eye, it just always pulls my makeup look together. The shade itself is a nude-mauve with slightly peachy undertones.
Tarte 12 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed | $28 | Ok, so this is very similar to Baby Love! It definitely has a more mauve-plum tone instead of the peachy tinge to Baby Love, however if you're in the UK then it's probably worth just opting for that. However this is one of the few completely matte blusher formulas I can tolerate! When they say 12 hours, they mean 12 hours because this has insane longevity. It isn't dry or hard to blend like so many other mattes, and it has the perfect level of pigmentation for a natural flush of colour.
NYX HD Blush in Amber | £5.50 | This just about pipped Sleek's Suede (review) to the post as my favourite affordable matte formula! This has a very similar texture to the Too Faced blush (in that it kicks up a bit of fallout but goes on like a dream) but without the sheen. Again, I don't notice any patchiness or significant fading after a long day at work. The colour is a really wearable muted peach that goes with almost any makeup look.
Milani Baked Blush in Berry Amore | £10 | I swear these have basically doubled in price! However they're still a bargain and although the (also lovely) Luminoso is definitely the blogger favourite, I still find myself reaching for this one more. It's a gorgeous warm rosy berry shade, though definitely not as deep as you may think judging by the name. However what I love about this is that it's perfect to wear with a deeper berry-toned lip because the colour ties in but it isn't going to overpower the overall look. It's a shimmer formula but there are no large chunks of glitter and goes on smoothly. I also have no complaints on the wear-time.
Becca Mineral Blush in Amaretto | £32 | This is in serious danger of overtaking Mood Exposure as my holy grail. Yep: I said it! It's not currently available but they keep bringing the original face palette back, so who knows - the one pictured is actually my backup (I was so worried about it's limited edition status that I repurchased it with Prosecco Pop, another favourite from the palette which is now available as a single). It has what I'd describe as a 'luminous matte' formula, in that it isn't dry or flat and is pigmented but blends beautifully. This warm caramel-brown is perfect with any warm-toned makeup look, which is basically 80% of what I do! Especially over summer, this is gorgeous paired with an orange-red lip, but no matter what time of year it is I reach for this at least once a week. Whenever it's a night out and I want a blusher I know and trust to look good and stay in place, or I'm just not sure what to go for; this is what I instinctively reach for.
Becca Mineral Blush in Songbird | £26 | It's another entry from Becca! Despite ostensibly sharing a formula with Amaretto, this has a much more noticeable (but still subtle) golden sheen to it. It's one of the more intensely-pigmented shades in this post but it's still easy to work with. The colour itself is more of a muted peachy-orange; perfect applied lightly with a bold lip for a sun kissed look.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure | £32 | My ultimate favourite! The Hourglass blusher formula is imitated by many but none come close to it; what's really special about this is that it gives a luminous 'glow from within' without a single fleck of glitter. The formula is smooth and the colour payoff is perfect! It never looks like I've overdone the blusher when I wear this and the mauve tone actually has a plummy undertone, meaning it looks much warmer once applied than it seems in the pan. It goes on evenly and doesn't get patchy during the day.
KIKO Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in 02 Golden Peach | £8.90 | This is the only cream formula that made it into this post, as I often find they look patchy, greasy or disappear after a few hours on wear on my combination skin, however not this one. This isn't a cream-to-matte formula but I do think the phrase 'velvet' is accurate. It has enough slip to the formula that it can be dabbed on and blended out, however it isn't too shiny on the skin and looks incredibly natural. The colour is opaque and most importantly long-lasting. It's a peach shade with the most understated golden sheen running through it.

These are all beautiful shades, I'm very tempted by the cheek pops! My favourite blusher is still Clinique's Amp'd Up Apple - it is perfect for me in shade, texture and formula! x
ReplyDeleteI'm not someone who has always been into blush but I've started to look for more nudey ones recently for me to purchase, ever since I started watching Kathleen Lights on youtube! I do have a few pink ones in my collection but I never seem to pick them up as I naturally have quite rosy cheeks so I prefer browny nudes. It's odd because I adore the look and sound of the Tarte one considering it's a mauvy shade but I may have to opt for the Too Faced one like you mentioned haha!

I love using Milani Berry Amore for warm looks! It's funny that it's really not berry at all, but very bronzed due to the veining. Great picks love! I am trying to get into brighter pops of blush for spring and summer, but it's difficult to stray from tried and trusted everyday nude pinks and peachy browns! I love them too much!
