Holiday Beauty Haul | Sephora, Duty Free & More

As you may have noticed, I went away a good few times over Summer and of course I picked up some new beauty products on my travels! Today I'm finally sitting down and reviewing my haul for you.

Duty Free

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara | £19.50 | How did I manage to miss this repurchase out of my image? Well you can check out my review of this product here. It's almost traditional for me to pick up a Benefit mascara when I go on holiday over summer; they always do Duty Free plus an extra 20% off on the flight itself and I can never resist! I just really like this as an everyday mascara for giving my lashes length and curl. It's not really volumising but when I'm at work I'm not massively about that look anyway. This gives a very natural look and I find the curl holds all day, plus it doesn't flake.

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun! | £24 | I've spoken about this on my blog already but just thought I'd give it an extra mention as it's one of the products I got tax-free. It just has the most beautiful, easy-to-blend formula and the colour is perfect; it's warm but just looks so natural on the skin. It's pretty much perfect if you're trying to hang on to your post-Summer glow!

LancĂ´me Juicy Shaker Lipgloss in Vanilla Pop | £18 | This is less of a gloss and more of a dual-phase tinted lip oil. It feels lightweight on the lips, not gloopy or sticky in the slightest, and adds a nice dewy look to the lips. The colour itself is this lovely rosy-plum shade that I reach for all the time. Obviously it's not that long-lasting but it feels so nourishing that I personally really like re-applying it during the day.

Sephora

Sephora Ultimate Warming Cleanser | $18 | This is a nice enough product but didn't really wow me in all honesty. It's a gel cleanser that I guess you can use to remove makeup but it's not as gentle and effective as other options I have, so I used it as a second cleanse. It's a little bit gimmicky because it has the warming sensation that I like a lot and is really nice when I'm having a bit of a pamper, however I just don't see any long-term benefits from using this. My skin is a little softer after I cleanse with it but nothing much else!

Sephora Pro Flawless Airbrush #56 | $32 | I'm just going to say it: this is one of the best foundation brushes I've ever used! I am a huge fan of the #55, however this is more for a full coverage base. It's fairly small and the bristles are tightly-packed so you can also use it for concealer (or even for cream blusher or bronzer). It just gives a very natural but flawless finish - love it!

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Watermelon Slice | $14 | I really like these matte lip creams; they give an opaque, shine-free finish without feeling drying. There aren't many shades that call to me from this range but I do like the formula so decided to try something new with this watermelon-pink shade.

Sephora It Palette Nude | €29.95 | Both myself and my mum picked this up when we were in Italy because it's just the most gorgeous day-to-night neutral smoky eye palette. We weren't disappointed! Of course the shades are gorgeous and it comes in this cool faux snakeskin compact and you get an eyeliner in there (there's a brush too but I never use those!) There's a nice mix of mattes and shimmers, you get deeper shades, lid colours and highlights in here. The quality overall is very good in terms of how easy they are to blend, the wear-time and the colour payoff. My only slight negatives are that one or two of the more glittery shades are a bit crumbly and I think a few of these are a little too similar to each other and the palette would be better with slightly different shades (as opposed to, say, the two warm charcoal brown mattes that essentially look the same once applied).

Sephora Outrageous Eyeshadow in 03 Bodacious Brown | €12.95 | I was so close to buying a few of these and I'm SO glad I didn't! When swatched, these look like they have an absolutely stunning, dewy, metallic effect. This shade is a really beautiful brown with slightly khaki undertones. However I found it so messy to apply and blend out; the more you apply, the more work it is to control, yet at the same time the more you blend it out the more you lose that beautiful finish. After 3 hours I looked in the mirror and it had worn down to such a degree that it looked like I'd just got a grey eyeshadow and covered my entire lid with it. I was so disappointed with this because I thought it would be amazing.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose | £19 | You can get these in the UK but they only have one store in London and I seem to recall buying online being a bit pricey, so I took the opportunity to pick up a new shade in Sephora. I love these lip treatments as the formula is so amazingly nourishing. This rosy-red-pink shade seems less pigmented than the others I have from Fresh however we will see how it goes.

Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion in 30M Sienna | £28 | I should've waited to get home to buy this because the exchange rate really did me in on this purchase! I guess because I don't have an MUFE counter near me I just wanted to take the opportunity to swatch the products and buy something there and then. This is a really good shade for me; it's not overly warm so I can use it to add a bit of subtle definition. I really love the formula because it's matte but blends out so easily and it's impossible to go overboard with.

Formula X Sheer Strength Treatment Nail Polish in Energetic | $12.50 | Obviously I bought this product expecting a sheer wash of colour but honestly, after 3 coats of this, I might as well have put on a clear nail polish from a magazine aimed at 12 year-olds! There was just no point to this and I don't feel it helped strengthen my weak and peeling nails. The nude colour was virtually redundant once applied, which is such a shame.

French Pharmacy

Avene Care for Sensitive Lips | £4.26 | I actually got a pack of two of these for around €6 which I shared with my friend. This is actually a really nice lip balm; it isn't too thick or heavy and does the job! There isn't a huge amount to say about it but I do like this and use it pretty much every day.

Avene Triacneal Expert | £23 | I've been using this overnight treatment every other evening before bed. It feels like a normal moisturiser but is a bizarre orange colour-wise! It's designed the target blemishes, signs of ageing and and marks or imperfections on the skin. I actually think it really works; obviously there's a limit to how dramatic the results are going to be but my skin has been looking spot-free, smooth, clear and even since I started using it.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water x2 Value Pack | £23 | This pack of two large 500ml bottles of Bioderma was around the €17 mark (I think) so I couldn't resist stocking up, given that I use this every single day I wear makeup! I just love this stuff; it's so effective yet as gentle as water on my skin and eyes.

I also got a couple of free samples, which will be handy for travel. One of them was the Avene Triacneal Expert I've reviewed above and the other is the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo +, which was already a favourite - you can read my review of it here.

And the Rest!

KIKO Shade Selection 03 Empty Eyeshadow Palette | £5.90 | & KIKO High Pigment Wet & Dry Eyeshadows in 18 Metallic Bronze, 47 Matte Light Brown & 48 Pearly Cocoa | £6.90 each | I wasn't planning on picking up anything from KIKO in Italy because the stock is identical to what we can already get in the UK, however they were doing that 'buy 3 products, get 3 free' thing in-store so we just had to have a look! Ok these shades are nothing revolutionary to my collection: gold lid shade, warm mid-brown matte crease colour and a deeper brown shimmer, however I couldn't resist. I haven't had a chance to use these properly yet but the colour payoff seems good so the signs are positive so far!

Aquolina Icing Sugar Bath Foam | €8.90 | This is SUCH a throwback product for me! I remember when we went to Venice when I was maybe 10 and I got a body spray from this range that I ended up being obsessed with. We kept a look out for this brand everywhere and finally came across it. This scent is just as sweet and yummy as I remembered and I can't wait to try it out in bath foam form.

What do you think of my haul? Have you tried any of these products before?

The Sephora palette looks gorgeous! Totally agree that it'd be great for smokey eyes. I'll need to check that out for myself :)

  12. I feel like I never get good deals out of duty-free. It's so annoying! Everytime I take a plane I'm excited to look at the duty-free section, but I never end up buying anything haha. The Sephora brush sounds great! I never look at the more expensive options when it comes to brushes, and this one sounds just good. Great quality and a good price as well. I'll have to have a closer look at their brushes from now on!
