Asian Beauty Haul & Review

Sometimes we can get a bit stuck in a rut and only pick up products that we can get in Boots or Superdrug, however it's definitely worth Googling some reviews and ordering online from abroad when you want to try something totally new and different! I was kindly sent a few Asian beauty products, as well as buying some myself, so I've been testing them out for the past month or so and today I'm letting you know which are worth getting your hands on.

Tonymoly I'm Real Sheet Masks | £10.97 for 11 | You can actually buy these individually from Cult Beauty but they're £6 each! I ordered these on Amazon and it only look 10 days for them to arrive. I have been trialling them over the past few weeks and have been writing up my thoughts as I've used each just to avoid forgetting what's what! These are all sheet masks that are fully saturated with product so are quite wet to touch. I tend to leave these on for as long as possible - until they're totally dry when I can and for an hour at the very least. This just ensures the product really absorbs into my skin.

Lemon Brightening - I used this when my skin was so dull that it practically looked grey! I think I only made it to an hour with this one because I needed to eat so had to take it off but even in that time I could really see the effects. My skin looked so much healthier and more vibrant! I was pretty impressed; if you suffer from dull skin then I'd definitely recommend this as a quick fix.

Aloe Moisturising - I actually used this one in Italy because my skin was feeling sore, itchy and uncomfortable from the sun. It was instantly so soothing and calming and gave my skin lasting relief. My skin was softer, felt much more hydrated and less sensitive so this is a big thumbs up from me. I will definitely repurchase this as we head into Autumn/Winter.

Seaweed Skin Purifying - This is amongst my least favourites; I just didn't really feel like it did a great deal. It felt nice on my skin but I didn't think my skin felt especially hydrated afterwards, though I would say it looked nice and clear the next day. I probably wouldn't bother with this one again though.

Avocado Nutrition - The liquid this mask is soaked in is a little thicker and milkier than the others and it took a little longer for this to really absorb into my skin. However afterwards my skin looked a lot plumper and felt softer. Even the next morning my skin was a lot more hydrated, plus it didn't break me out in the process.

Makgeolli Skin Purifying - I did find this one to be a nice balance between hydrating but not leaving much excess on my skin so I can see this being a great one for oily skin types. I do feel like my skin was noticeably clear for a couple of days after using this.

Broccoli Vitalising - This is both brightening and hydrating and is one of my favourites. My skin looks so glowing and healthy, as well as soft and hydrated when I used this mask. It's a great all-rounder that I'd repurchase.

Rice - Clear Skin - I do actually really like this one; I had an angry under-the-surface spot (you know the ones!) and by the next day after using this in the evening, I found it had all but vanished. This is still really hydrating and just left my skin looking nice and fresh.

Red Wine Pore Care - I find it really hard to gauge the effect a product has on my pores, especially after one use. This felt a little bit more invigorating than the other masks I'd tried from this range and I noticed my face looked a lot less greasy after use, despite this being quite hydrating and not drying out my skin at all. I did feel my pores looked a little bit better the next day when I applied my foundation so I'd repurchase this for a special occasion or even just to see if it gave more dramatic effects with long-term use.

Tomato Radiance - This is another one of the more 'tingly' feeling sheet masks of the bunch which made me expect quite dramatic results. However although my skin looked fresher and more hydrated, I can't say this seemed to do a great deal. I think I'll be sticking to the Lemon mask in future when I'm in need of a glow-boost.

Pomegranate Elasticity - I really wasn't sure what this would do for my skin but it turned out to be a really great all-in-one. With moving house and a general lack of sleep, my skin was looking pretty tired when I reached for this. It left my skin more hydrated, reduced the appearance of some of my fine lines and just left everything looking healthy and radiant. It's definitely one I'd buy again!

Tea Tree Soothing - I don't particularly associate tea tree with being soothing - almost the opposite but I gave it a go anyway! I actually find tea tree to be amazing for spots so gave it a go when I was having a breakout. I ended up really liking this mask; it helped clear up my skin whilst being very moisturising, though I still don't quite get the 'soothing' angle.

Want Skincare The Natural Beauty Kit* | £75 | Want Skincare is a Singapore-based skincare brand that focuses on an edited selection of products. This starter kit comes in a handwoven caddy bag and all the profit made from these goes towards supporting marginalised women in Bali get an education, which I think is fantastic (read more here). You can also get the bag with some of their smaller sets and individually. I really appreciate the mid-range price-point of all of the Want products and how nice is the packaging? It's functional, fuss-free but still so Instagrammable!

Want Beet This Honey Cleanser* | £13 alone | My one negative for this product is that the pump is a little bit stiff when you try to get the product out, however otherwise the packaging is hygienic and transparent so you can see when it's running out. This isn't a 'slap it on and go' cleanser; I've experimented a little bit and for me the best way to apply it is to have my face dry but my hands damp. I use 2-3 pumps for my face and warm the product between my fingers before massaging it into my skin. It doesn't foam up, which I prefer, because those kinds of cleansers can strip my skin a bit. After rinsing it, my skin looks and feels so clean, clear and hydrated. Honey is one of my favourite skincare ingredients because its antibacterial properties mean it helps blemishes but it still has a very nourishing consistency. I've really been liking using this as a morning cleanser and recommend it for combination, normal and dry skin types.

Want The Facial Spritzer* | £13 alone | I have a lot of face mists and wasn't sure if this one would be different or great enough to stand out and become a favourite, however I have totally fallen for it! What I really like about this is that it brings all the amazing skincare ingredients into one product; you get soothing aloe vera, relaxing lavender, brightening orange and hydrating grape. I find it so hydrating, refreshing and lightweight. It gives my skin an all-round boost, leaving it feeling nice and fresh. I also really like the lightweight mist; I hate feeling like a spray is spitting product on my face! I think this would be great for any skin type as well.

Want Ginger Clay Scrub Mask* | £24 alone | This is a dry face mask that you add water to so it is a bit of a faff, which is my main downside for this product. However on the flip side it does allow you to choose which consistency you prefer; something a little more runny or quite thick. There is some guidance on the packaging but I don't tend to take the time to measure it out properly. I usually massage this into my skin as I apply it; the exfoliation particles feel like they're working but aren't to large or rough on my skin. Once I've done that I leave it for 10 minutes and rinse. It does smell strongly of ginger, I should warn you, though I personally really like this scent! My skin looks so smooth and much more radiant and fresh after use; I can definitely see the difference. It's also very cleansing and helps to keep my skin clear. It's a once a week thing for me due to the effort but I do still really rate this.

Want The Face Oil* | £35 alone | I've been using this overnight because for my combination skin, oils are usually too much in the day. I really like this because it's a very lightweight formula. You dispense it with a dropper, though I do find the product tends to drip out a bit when I don't want it to! This absorbs really nicely into my skin and by the morning it's so much more hydrated, soft and nourished. This doesn't break me out either! It contains rosehip (one of my favourite skincare ingredients, especially when I'm feeling dry and/or sensitive), Vitamin E and Kukui.

Want Orange Cocoa Lip Saver* | £5 | This isn't part of the set but I'd still totally recommend picking it up! It's become my favourite daytime lip balm; it's nourishing but isn't too heavy or thick on my lips, leaving them feeling nice and soft. It has a natural chocolate orange scent that isn't strong, sickly or artificial.

StyleKorea is a website that offers just about every Korean beauty brand and product that you can think of and it ships at very affordable rates internationally. Recently they had a brand focus on Heimish so I was kindly sent a few products from them to try out.

Heimish Eye Palette in Breeze Beige* | $29.91 | This neutral eyeshadow palette is just so 'me'! Overall the colours are brown, pink and taupe tones. If there's one thing that's missing in this palette, it's a deeper taupe and/or mid-brown crease shade. Overall I really rate the formula in terms of pigmentation, how easy they are to blend and how long they last. My only negative really is the two glitter shades: Cappuccino and Silver Pearl, which are a little bit chunky and harder to work with (they also wear away quickly in comparison to the others in the palette). However the mattes are very smooth and creamy and I really like the shimmers, as they have a lovely subtle, pearlescent sheen. My favourite shades are the golden-bronze shimmer Mocha and the charcoal matte Espresso.

Heimish Dailism Mineral Rich Lipstick in Fine Day* | $16.82 | This is a lovely creamy lipstick that has a slight sheen once applied. I find this to be pigmented and one swipe is enough for me. It's a nicely hydrating texture too. The colour is a nude pink shade that's so similar to a lipstick I used to wear all the time a couple of Springs back. To make it more Autumnal, I pair it with MAC Spice Lip Pencil underneath, which is just perfection! It isn't the most long-wearing formula (4 hours at most), but it doesn't fade too noticeably.

Heimish All Clean Balm* | $16.82 for full sized | This is actually just a free sample and StyleKorea send them out to anyone ordering through them. However I enjoyed this so much that I just had to share it! The texture is unlike anything I've tried before - it's far lighter than any other oil-based cleanser I have. It melts beautifully on my skin and is SO effective at removing my makeup! It doesn't irritate my eyes yet still gets rid of every bit of waterproof black eye makeup. Once I've used up my million-and-one other makeup-removing cleansers, I definitely want to repurchase this; it's just fantastic.

  6. I actually spotted those Tony Moly sheet masks on Cult Beauty but got put off by the high price tag for just one mask. It's great to know you can actually get them so much cheaper on Amazon. Definitely checking them out x

  7. Wow, this is quite a haul! A bit envious reading this post - it's a dream haul of things to play with. I've tried the Red Wine Tony Moly mask and had written off the brand. However, the others sound promising so I'll have to try a few out. Korean sheet masks are definitely one of my favorites bits of Asian beauty products.

  16. I tried a few of these Tonymoly masks and they were good, I didn't notice how expensive they are on Cult Beauty! Asian skincare products are good, they somehow know how to come up with effective products, but never tried a makeup product. Fine day looks beautiful! x
