The Single Eyeshadows I Actually Use

Single eyeshadows have to be my most neglected beauty product! As my moving out date looms closer, I've been whittling down my beauty stash and thinking about the products I genuinely use and love. Today I'm showing you my favourite single eyeshadows. So I wasn't including all my single shadows from my custom palettes (that's for another post!) I've tried to keep this to ones that I'd use on their own when it comes to pans.

Cream

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Taupe | £21 | This is the only eyeshadow I've ever completely finished and had to re-purchase! It's just the perfect everyday eyeshadow base; not too cool, not too warm and close enough to my natural skin tone. It's a matte medium brown shade so works with any neutral eyeshadow look. It really primes my eyelids, making powder eyeshadows applied on top of it really pop and also last much longer. It's very creamy, so blends out with ease however sets down and doesn't move or crease.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon & Misty Rock | £29 each | These are really expensive (check out two pretty identical dupes from KIKO here) however I can't say I haven't got my money's worth out of them! They're beautiful cream stick eyeshadows with this amazing super-dewy shimmer. They go on so smoothly and have incredible pigmentation however are really long-wearing. Bronze Moon is a gorgeous brown-bronze shade (the perfect smoky eye base or really multifaceted on its own) and Misty Rock is a mauve-taupe colour.

Rosie for Autograph Cream Eyeshadow Stick in Almond Eyes | £12.50 | This is actually a perfect dupe for Rose Gold by Laura Mercier, which I got a mini of in a set last Christmas. It's an off-white champagne shade with a very subtle metallic sheen. It's a really perfect inner-corner highlight and has such a creamy-but-pigmented texture. I find this wears well and doesn't rub off my watery eyes.

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Copper | £23 | This is one of my favourite formulas so I really want to check out more of the shades. This is a beautiful warm golden-copper shimmer which is a stunning inner-corner highlight or so simple and pretty all across the lid. This has amazing colour payoff and really lasts all day for me without any creasing. I have looked at some of the other colours in the range and they're all so unique; Copper is definitely unlike anything else in my collection.

Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoos in On & On Bronze & Creamy Beige | £4.99 each | When it comes to a budget option; Maybelline always wins for me and these are overall my favourite potted cream eyeshadows. I just wish they did more shades! My favourites are the matte taupe-nude Creamy Beige (it's a really great base shade) and of course the dewy bronze-brown shimmer of On & On Bronze. These are really pigmented and have quite a solid formula but are still easy to work with. This is honestly one of the most long-wearing, non-creasing, sweat-proof formulas ever!

ColourPop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Sunset Blvd | $5 | I do love my ColourPop eyeshadows but by far I've got the most use out of Sunset Blvd - I'm even hitting pan on it! I feel like photos never really do this justice because it's such an understated wash of colour. It's a nude-beige colour with a subtle pearly gold finish. It just adds a little 'something' on a low-maintenance day and never creases on me, even in the heat.

L'Oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush | £6.99 | This is a stunning super-dew metallic cream eyeshadow. It's just so smooth without being greasy or thin in texture. It's a stunning rose gold colour that looks so dimensional all over the lids. True to the name it's incredibly long-wearing.

Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow in Copper | £7.99 | I don't have many of these lighter, more fluffy cream eyeshadows in my stash because they don't tend to wear that well. This doesn't have *the* best longevity; however it doesn't crease like the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise. For under £10, I can definitely forgive it a lot more than in a high-end eyeshadow. It's a really stunning warm brown shade with a golden sheen that's pretty much a smoky eye in one swipe.

Clarins Ombre Iridescent Waterproof Eyeshadow in Copper Brown* | £18 | As far as wear-time goes; this is definitely one of the best! It comes in a hygienic tube and I never find myself squeezing out too much. This is a gold-toned brown shade that goes on very metallic and dewy but does dry down quickly (so blend fast!) When it does set in place it doesn't budge or crease at all. It's amazing for on holiday when you want something quick and easy for the evenings.

Powder

Delilah Colour Intense Compact Eyeshadow in Walnut* | £20 | I don't have many mattes in this post, however I really love this because it's a great crease shade to add depth if I'm wearing a shimmery cream eyeshadow all across the lid but it can also double as an eyebrow shade. It's really handy when I'm travelling to have one product that can do both! It's a cool-toned dark brown colour with a completely matte finish. The texture is soft and smooth but not at all crumbly and this has really good pigmentation. It doesn't have much fall out despite blending so easily and lasts well on me.

Natural Collection Solo Eyeshadow in Milk Chocolate | £1.99 | This may look like a pan but it's in this post because it is actually a proper packaged single eyeshadow! I depotted this badly and would not recommend doing so, even with heat. It's a really gorgeous taupe matte crease colour. It has such an impressive formula for the price. It's not at all chalky; it has such a nice texture that's really easy to blend out.

MAC Pro Refill Eyeshadow Pans in All That Glitters & Woodwinked | £10 each | These are the two MAC eyeshadows I'd definitely have bought even after having discovered Makeup Geek and Anastasia Beverly Hills! They both have the Veluxe Pearl finish, which is my favourite from MAC. I find it to be a solid formula as opposed to buttery but it's very pigmented and long-lasting. All That Glitters is a really unique golden-peachy-nude colour and Woodwinked is a warm golden-bronze.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pan in Homecoming | £4.95 | Ok, this is kind of similar to Woodwinked but a little darker and not as warm in tone. I find the Makeup Geek formula a lot creamier and easy to work with, however it still wears well on me. It's one of those shades I reach for on work days all the time.

Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Pan in Grandstand | £7.95 | The Foiled Makeup Geek formula is so smooth it's almost like a cream! It has this incredible liquid metal finish and Grandstand is a beautiful copper tone. It doesn't wear quite as well as the standard eyeshadow formula from Makeup Geek, however it still looks fine after a long day.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Single Eyeshadows in Cognac & Glisten | $12 each | Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows have been a real revelation. Realistically I'd say the Makeup Geek formula is extremely similar and almost on-par with it in terms of quality, however there are some really unique shades in Anastasia's range. My two favourites to wear on their own are Cognac; a warm red shimmer with brown undertones and Glisten; a warm bronze-gold, which is a touch darker and warmer than MAC's All That Glitters and is of course creamier in texture.

H&M Eyeshadow in Act Your Beige | £4.99 | This is a total bargain! It's almost like ColourPop's Sunset Blvd in powder form because it's a really nice golden-beige shade that has a really lovely formula. The shimmer is a subtle sheen as opposed to chunky or glittery. This is one of those shades I can apply all over the lid when I want a bit of 'something'.

Burberry Silk Shadow in Pale Barley | £23 | Perhaps one of the most hyped eyeshadows in the blogging world! Whilst I think the adoration is a little OTT, I can't deny that this is pretty fantastic. It has a slightly crumbly formula but that's not necessarily a bad thing in this case. I really like the level of pigmentation it has and it lasts on my eyelids all day long. I can see why it's so popular; the cool beige with a slight sheen is the perfect all-over colour that you can reach for without having to think about it.

  18. Thank you for sharing this - I've always preferred eyeshadow palettes as I believe that you get so much more worth out of your bucks, but there are a few individual eyeshadow pans from MUG and Colourpop that are so gorgeous they're really tempting! I really love the browns from MUG such as Cocoa Bear, Frappe, Creme Brulee and Latte! x

  33. These are all SO gorgeous! I need L'Oréal's Amber Rush and MUG's Grandstand in my life. One of my most-used single eyeshadows is Wet 'n' Wild "Nutty". The only thing I don't like about it is how quickly mine broke, as I can't bring it with me when I'm travelling, but other than that, I love it.

  37. I think Pale Barley is one of my most used shades, and I'm heavily eyeing Rosewood as it looks like a gorgeous shade. I have the LM caviar stick in Amethyst and it is gorgeous, can't wait for Fall/Winter to bring it out. Since you've had the ByTerry and Kiko sticks, would you say the ByTerry ones are worth picking up?

I have a MAC eyeshadow palette in the making but have no idea which ones to add. I'm thinking All That Glitters is a cult favorite that I need to add, but I need to find one of those burnt orange shades to use as a one wash shade for added definition.

Your collection of shadows is gorrrgeous and I can definitely tell you get good use out of them too.

I think you'd like my favorites too as you're just a tad darker in skin tone than me... but of course, Charlotte Tilbury AMBER HAZE Color Chameleon, Laura Mercier MOONLIGHT Caviar Stick (I also LOVE this formula), MAC BRONZE powder shadow but the one I get the most compliments on is Urban Decay ROACH.
