Clarins Autumn Makeup Collection

Although I'm definitely one to rinse every last drop out of Summer, this time next month we will be heading towards Autumn and I can't deny that I'm looking forward to the makeup collections. Neutral tones are my natural territory and I love the seasonal collections Clarins bring out so I'm excited to show you a few bits from the new Autumn range.

BB Skin Detox Fluid* | £30 | We could've had it all... I really love the packaging of this; it looks so beautiful and Autumnal and I always appreciate a hygienic pump on a product. If you're going for a light, sheer coverage then I'd suggest 2 pumps of this, or if you'd like to build it up a little in any problem areas then go for 3. It's very natural and easy to build on. It evens out the skin tone whilst still being very lightweight in texture. It has a very natural skin-like finish; I wouldn't go so far as to say it's matte (it still has a very 'healthy' look on the skin) but it isn't dewy either. It wears well on my skin and doesn't go all greasy, though I put a bit of powder on my t-zone around lunch time.

The downside is the shade range! This only comes in 4 colours and the one that's closest to my skin tone is the darkest! I also have Medium but that is too light. I don't expect light  coverage bases to come in loads of shades but this does still seem too narrow. Dark is ok on me but definitely not warm enough in tone. I feel like I can 'work with' it and make the colour look acceptable, however I do have other lightweight bases that are perfect matches so I'd rather not feel uncomfortable trying to make a shade work that isn't quite right. If you have a neutral light-medium complexion then definitely check this out because the formula is fantastic. I really hope they do release some more colours because if that happens; I am there!

Supra Volume Mascara* | £21.50 | This is billed as a volumising mascara but the wand isn't too thick and fibre-y. It is a bristled wand and I prefer one that's plastic but there are always exceptions to that rule. I think the name might mislead you into thinking it will be a full-impact, clumpy mascara, however if you know Clarins you'll know they're all about classic makeup that enhances what you have naturally. This does add volume and a little bit of length but it's more of a natural, fluttery, feathery look. It definitely makes my lashes look much darker and gives a natural fullness and lift. I don't find that it smudges, flakes or transfers either. I am a bit set in my ways when it comes to mascara so I'm not convinced this is one I'd ditch all my others for, but it's nice to have a bit of a change and this is a great everyday option.

4 Colour Eyeshadow Palettes in Rosewood and Oud* | £34 each | For me these are the stars of the show! They come in beautiful gold slimline packaging and are so compact that they'll be perfect for travelling with. Inside you get 4 shades that are pretty much everything you need for an everyday natural eye look. The quality of these shadows is really fantastic; not a single one is chalky or under-pigmented and they just apply beautifully. I find them so effortless to work with as well. If you're someone who doesn't have loads of makeup then I'd definitely recommend picking one of these up for a fuss-free workday option because you will honestly use it so much! You have a highlight, a lid colour, a crease colour and a liner/darker shade so you really can't go wrong. They are pricey for 4 shadows but as I said, I can see them being 'every single day' palettes for a lot of people. The wear time is really good too - I find that the shades in these palettes aren't too faded and don't crease after a long day at work. Most of the shades do have a sheeny finish but aren't anything overly shimmery.

Rosewood is your more taupe-toned option with a sheeny cream highlight, a slightly more shimmery pinky-taupe, a similar shade that's more purple in tone and a darker plummy-purple with cool undertones that's almost matte.

Oud is probably the more 'me' of the two. There's a warm light gold-cream shimmer highlight, a warm taupe sheeny lid shade, a semi-matte dark brown and a matte black.

Have you checked out the Clarins Autumn Collection yet? What Autumn makeup are you looking forward to wearing this year?

  9. Oh wow that black pigmentation in the swatch - srsly impressive stuff!!
I think I'll be skipping the BB cream, but it does sound great for everyday if you have pretty good skin, its just a shame about the shade range :(

  10. The BB Cream sounds lovely, sadly it only comes in limited shades, but I think that's the case for most bb creams.

    1. I find most high-end brands don't have as many shades as with foundations but the ones they do span much wider. Therefore this selection isn't what I'd expect when it's a premium product xx

  11. I really hate the limited colour range, companies don't seem to think about the in between shades! These two palettes are definitely the stars, I really like the look of rosewood, really pretty colours! x

  14. Love the sound of the detox fluid, it has SPF right? Would love to try it for vacation. It's such a pain in the ass that so many brands don't represent a range of skin tones though.

  19. The Rosewood palette looks gorgeous! I'm really liking the pink-y taupe colour. It's a massive shame about the BB cream's limited shade range though- I really don't understand why so many brands don't cater to more skin tones. I will be giving that one a miss, I think.

  20. I love Clarins foundations! I remember them being the first and still the only brand that made me fell in love with a foundation, more than for necessity. I would love to try the BB cream, it sounds amazing! Too bad about the range shade, I also have some problems when picking up foundation since I am really pale and warm toned, usually lighter foundations come in pink undertones. I'm not a fan of high end mascaras but the eyeshadows look gorgeous!

  21. I really like Rosewood, most of my quads and palettes are brown-toned so I don't have a lot of grays and taupes! Shame about the shade range, I usually expect more from a high-end brand.

  22. Ooh, those are fab autumn shades, just wish they included a bit more burgundy/wine shades. Also, terrible timing for Australia (as usual), winter is just clearing up and spring is around the corner!
