My Most-Loved Makeup | Drugstore & Affordable

Last week I shared with you my Most Loved High-End Makeup and now it's time to do my drugstore and affordable version. This isn't just stuff that you can get in Boots and Supderdrug so maybe you'll even discover some new brands in this post! Inevitably the definition of 'affordable' has been stretched a little bit but every single product here costs less than £20. I've only included products I consider to be as good as something I could buy in Selfridges or Space NK so there's going to be no 'it's good for the price'; these are all products that are good full stop.

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer | £10 | This is my holy grail primer! Although it'a billed as mattifying, it's also sort of hydrating. What it actually does for me is even out my combination skin and provide a satin base for my foundation. Everything applies so smoothly on top of it and you don't have to leave it to settle for ages before going in with your foundation. It has a cream texture, which I much prefer to something slippery and silicone-y. It stops my makeup from fading patchily and definitely adds another few hours to its wear-time.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation | £14.32 | My deep dislike of the UK version of this foundation is well-documented! However, wanting to see what all the hype was about, I decided to try the US version and everything changed. This is by far the best drugstore foundation I've ever tried and in the States they actually have shades that match me! It worked out as a little more expensive than popping into Superdrug for the UK version but I'm so glad I did. It gives me a matte but non-drying and not at all flat finish. It stops any shine coming through but still leaves my skin with a lovely matte glow. It's very flawless in appearance and, as it claims, is incredibly long-wearing. It gives a medium-full coverage and if I were to liken it to anything, it would be Nars Sheer Glow but a couple of notches more matte.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer | £7.99 | I've never seen a product get such a hard time for its packaging! It's actually no different to a doe foot applicator except in size. Also, you only use this under your eyes and not on blemishes. Anyway, I actually find it gives a very natural look and you barely need to do any blending. It's a lightweight, fluffy formula so I would always pair it with a corrector, however it's perfect for those minimal makeup days and you can even use it for highlighting. Annoyingly it only comes in 2 shades though! I find that if you set it with powder it doesn't crease or fade either and I trust it enough to use it most days.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder | £8.99 | This is my absolute favourite face powder! Again, there are limited shades in this, however if you can find a shade to match it then definitely check it out. It has coverage but reduces shine without feeling heavy or caky on my skin at all.

Topshop Glow Pot Highlighter in Gleam | £9 | This is a gorgeous, dewy (but not greasy!) cream highlighter. It gives the most amazing glow and you only need to dab the tiniest amount on your cheekbones because it has amazing pigmentation. Gleam is a golden-champagne colour that's perfect for me, though if you're fair you may prefer the icier pink tone of the other shade in this: Polished.

Sleek Blush in Suede | £4.99 | I always seem to forget just how great this product is! However it really is one of those perfect everyday shades. It just seems to go with everything and adds that little bit of colour with minimal fuss. It's a matte formula, however isn't at all chalky or drying or difficult to work with. It doesn't cling to any dry patches and goes on with minimal effort plus wears well during the day. It's this sort of muted peach shade that doesn't look like much in the pan but comes to life with a bronzed makeup look or paired with a orange-toned red lip.

KIKO Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in 02 Golden Peach | £7.90 | For those 'no makeup' days, this is a shade I can trust. It has a completely non-greasy formula and amazing pigmentation. This is a peach shade with a subtle golden sheen, as the name suggests. It isn't patchy and is one of the few cream blusher products that will last me for hours and hours, even in hot weather.

KIKO Perfecting Bronzer in Medium-Dark | £12.90 | Sorry but this was Limited Edition! I had to be honest about the products I actually use but there's another KIKO bronzer  I find really similar that I talked about here. Anyway, this is just my perfect matte bronzer! Though I've since discovered lots of other options, this is still one of my favourites for a little bit of warmth and definition. It contains this lavender correcting powder in the centre, which gives it a gorgeous, luminous look on the skin. It just goes on so effortlessly and looks very natural on the skin.

Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze | £4.99 | This is one of those products that I recommend to absolutely everyone! It's that perfect brown-bronze shimmer that's not too warm or too cool in tone. It's so versatile; you can use it as a base for a bronzed smoky eye or across the lid on its own when you're in a rush. Even alone it looks so multidimensional that you can fool people into thinking you made far more effort than you did. It's so pigmented and has this gorgeous dewy sheen. The best part of this product, though, is the longevity! I've worn this literally for 24 hours, I've worn it on holiday in 100 degree heat and it does not crease and it does not wear off!

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pans in Grandstand (Foiled), Homecoming, Frappe & Cocoa Bear | £4.95-£7.95 each | review | I go on about these all the time so I'll keep it brief and if you want to hear more then check out my review. These eyeshadows are just amazing; they aren't like the super-creamy Urban Decay formula but they're not as 'solid' as MAC's, for example. They have amazing colour payoff and are one of the most long-wearing powder formulas in my collection. The mattes are so impressive; again they have that great pigmentation and smooth texture. The Foiled formula is a little different and has this intense, super-dewy metallic shimmer. My top picks from Makeup Geek are Grandstand (Foiled metallic rose gold shimmer), Homecoming (bronze-brown shimmer), Frappe (warm mid-toned brown) and Cocoa Bear (very warm darker reddish brown).

Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette | £18 | review | This is one of my all-time favourite eyeshadow palettes and definitely the best you can get at this price-point! The packaging is cardboard but I do still think it's quite pretty and you get this gorgeous array of warm neutrals and little pops of colour. This is my go-to during the Autumn/Winter months! I absolutely love the quality of these shadows; they're so creamy in texture and so easy to work with. I find them very pigmented and they wear really well on my eyelids. Definitely check out my full review but my favourite shades are Pure Ganache (a bright gold shimmer), Substitute for Love (a very warm caramel-brown matte), Freshly Toasted (a deep reddish-brown matte), Warm Notes (a deep pink shimmer) and Subtle Blend (a bronze-brown-gold shimmer).

Soap & Glory Supercat Liner | £6 | This has kind-of been overtaken for me by my Stila liner however I do still love it and it's a product I always keep in my handbag just in case! It's a very matte, pigmented black liquid eyeliner with a felt tip pen applicator. It's not a super-fine, precise tip but you can vary the angle depending on how thick you want your liner to be and it doesn't feel at all scratchy. I love how bold the line is you can get with this and it really does last all day without smudging or smearing on my oily eye area.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £7.99 | Regular readers will know that this is my Holy Grail mascara! I personally prefer a plastic wand because I love length and definition. This delivers all of that but also amazing curl that lasts me all day long. I also find it gives me a little bit of volume that's not anything too clumpy. It's just that perfect all-rounder for me that does everything I want it to and can work for the day or night. I love how it doesn't smear or flake on me as well.

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil | £8 | This eyebrow pencil is pretty much identical to the Anastasia Brow Wiz, in everything expect for the shade selection. It has a really great spooly on one end and a thin, precise twist-up pencil on the other. It isn't too waxy or too soft and allows you to get a very natural look in a few seconds. I also really like the shade Hot Chocolate for me because it's not too greyish or too red-toned on my brows.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Brink | $5 | This is definitely one of my most-worn lip colours this year! I love it for everyday as it's kind of like all my favourite MAC nude lipsticks blended into one. It's a gorgeous medium warm brown nude colour with slightly mauve undertones. It's billed as Matte however it's very creamy in texture and has a slight sheen so is very comfortable to wear.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes | £5.50 | The Soft Mattes by NYX were definitely a gateway product for me into the world of liquid lipsticks! As the name suggests, they have more of a cream texture that's not quite as opaque and long-wearing but so much easier to wear in terms of application, comfort and re-applying. The shade is that perfect dusky pink nude that will go with any neutral makeup look or add a little something if you're going for a smoky eye.

  4. It is weird that how the formula of a product is different in other countries, also they always come up with more shade options in the US, hopefully companies will do the same for other countries as well. Some of these products are my favourites too and they are definitely worth the hype. I think Lash sensational is way better than most of the high street mascaras, definitely a must have! x

  37. A big yes to all your picks although I have not tried all. I love me my L'oreal infallible Pro Matte Foundation (US version of course) and in a way I am happy I didn't find my shade here in the UK as it would have put me off completely and I may not have had the courage to try the US one. S& G primer I really like because it does what it says on the tin. On and On Bronze is bae for me and in fact I need to use it tomorrow as it has been a moment. You can never go wrong with the Zoeava Cocoa Blend Palette as it is gorgeous. I told you all your picks were lovely and I will be checking out others. Thanks for sharing lovely...xx

  42. We share so many of the same love for things! I agree the UK L'Oreal foundation was awful but the US one has become my favourite drugstore foundation. The Maybelline concealer is one of my most used, I tend to use it more over my MAC Pro Longwear one.

MUG Grandstand & Homecoming I use non stop! Im also using MUG Desert Sands non stop, it isn't a shade I thought I would use that much but it has become a much loved shade.
