It feels like I'm barely back from New York but on Thursday I'm off to Spain for a chilled-out girls' holiday. Make sure you come back on Sunday to see my non-makeup beach getaway essentials but today we're talking the makeup products I'm taking away with me!
Base
Cover FX BB Gel Mattifying Anti-Blemish Treatment* | £35
Yep, it's that time of year again when I rabbit on about this product at every opportunity! G Medium Deep is just my perfect Summer shade and this is the only thing that doesn't melt into an oily, greasy mess on my skin in the sun. It gives impressive coverage given the fact it's such a lightweight base and gives my skin a more flawless appearance. It has a matte finish and is just incredibly long-wearing. I think the colour range is pretty good too - there are 10 shades and a variety of warm, neutral and cool tones.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Makeup | £29.50
This is going to be my evening-time option as the shade 3.5 is perfect for my Summer skin tone and it gives a good medium coverage, whilst being nice and matte. It's lighter in coverage than the original version, which can be a little bit suffocating in hot weather, but still gives a flawless finish. It's just as matte (without being flat or drying) and as long lasting as the original at the same time, so you're really getting the best of both worlds!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | £17.50
This is my favourite concealer for Summer - annoyingly there isn't a good match for my winter skin tone in the range, however Medium-Deep Warm is great for this time of year (with Medium Neutral under the eyes). I love the light, fluffy texture because it's so easy to blend out. Despite the lightweight formula, it gives amazing (but still natural-looking) coverage. It's the perfect balance between being hydrating but not greasy and is one of the few concealers I love both under my eyes and on blemishes. It's really long-wearing and doesn't crease on me, which are also so important for a beach holiday!

Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder | £11.95
This powder has been a bit of a revelation to me! It honestly sets my makeup in place amazingly and the concealer under my eyes doesn't wear away or crease and my eye makeup doesn't transfer or smear. I'm hoping that a little of this under my eyes with a damp BeautyBlender will hold everything in place in the heat for as long as possible. The shade is pretty perfect for me and the powder itself is so fine and traceless. It's extra important because I tend not to bother with a primer on holiday; if I'm already doing SPF and a moisturiser then I don't really want to add another step that needs time to sink in when I just want to get out there and enjoy the weather.

Models Own Sculpt & Glow Liquid Highlighter in 02 Rose Gold* | £9.99
This is an absolutely gorgeous liquid highlighter that can be used on top of makeup for a really dewy sun-kissed look, as a primer for a subtle glow or mixed in with a foundation to give it some luminosity. I plan on using this in the evenings mixed in with the Estee Lauder foundation or on top of it to stop it looking overly matte and to bring back some of that glow. The shade is absolutely stunning but I wouldn't describe it as 'rose gold' - it's more mid-way between gold and bronze. However it's a beautiful colour and doesn't contain big chunks of glitter. It just has a nice, natural sheen.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in That Glow | £39 | post
What can I say? I enjoy a highlighter! I have all the golden-bronze dewy options in this stunning palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills. The formula is so creamy and blends out beautifully to give a really natural look. There's a gorgeous yellow-gold, a deeper bronze shade and two golden-champagne tones to get a glowing, sun-kissed look. I've swatched my favourite below but check out my post on this for all the shades.

I know I talk about this all the time but it's the only cream formula that 100% works on my skin without fading or going greasy even in the heat. There are others I love, but I just know this is going to be able to take the heat and it's just quicker and easier to pop on a cream blusher sometimes. Golden Peach is such a natural shade with a very slight shimmer running through it.
Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop | £17
Ginger Pop is a gorgeous Summer shade; a sort of vibrant peachy-coral. The formula has a little bit of a sheen to it but it looks more-or-les matte on the skin. You can apply it so quickly and easily, plus it always looks really natural on the skin. It doesn't fade or go patchy during the skin, which is essential in the sun.
ColourPop Cheek Shock in Bronze Me | $8
This is such a perfect, sun-kissed warm-toned bronzer for my skin tone. It's semi-matte but definitely has a golden sheen to it. The ColourPop formula is so unique and sort of mousse-like so it isn't greasy at all but still applies smoothly on my skin. This doesn't go patchy on me even after a long day so fingers crossed it can take the heat on holiday.
Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Setting Spray | £9 (Travel Size)
Ok, so a setting spray is never going to 100% save you if your makeup is literally melting on your face, however I find this really helps hold things in place and keep my skin matte for as long as possible. I love the little travel sizes that Urban Decay bring out over Summer because they're actually decent value and just so cute!
Eyes
Urban Decay Original Eye Primer Potion | £8 (Travel Size)
This is an absolute life-saver when it comes to keeping my eyeshadow in place and stopping it from creasing, as well as ensuring the colours really pop on my eyelids. Therefore it was always going to be coming away with me. The full-sized really isn't that large so you can definitely travel with it, however this is half the price for half the amount so I thought I'd get the cute mini!
Clarins Ombre Iridescent Waterproof Eyeshadow in 04 Copper Brown* | £18
This eyeshadow formula is absolutely insane; I can wear it for a 12-hour day without it creasing or fading at all even without a primer. It does set quite quickly, so you don't have much time to blend it out but that's a small compromise when it's so long-lasting! I'm bringing the shade Copper Brown as I have a couple of other daytime eyeshadows in here so I wanted something I could just throw on in the evening. It's a deep, rich brown shade with gold undertones and has this beautiful pearly finish.
I talk about this all time so it's really no
surprise that it's coming with me to Spain! I love ColourPop's unique spongy
cream eyeshadow formula as it's so pigmented and long-wearing. This gorgeous
peachy-bronze nude with a pearly golden finish works so well all over the lid for an
everyday eye look in a few seconds.
I took this to Dubrovnik last year and it was
the only cream eyeshadow I had with me that I could really trust to last all
day in the intense temperatures without creasing. It lasts better than much
more expensive options like cream eyeshadows from By Terry and Charlotte
Tilbury, which is what makes it an essential in my makeup bag. The formula is
fairly solid, which is possibly why it's so long-wearing. As with all my cream
eyeshadows, I just apply this with my fingers and this one gives me a good
amount of time to blend it out before it sets down. It's a gorgeous dewy bronze-brown
shade that's not too warm or too cool in tone. It has this amazing multifaceted
look to it and can just be worn all over the lid (this can be done in a matter
of seconds for during the day) or used as a base for a bronze smoky eye look in
the evening.
Zoeva Nude Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette | £28.50 | post
I still thought I'd pack a palette of powder
shadows in case I fancy going for something a little more elaborate for the
evening. The Zoeva Nude Spectrum has everything I need for any neutral
eyeshadow look in a really slimline palette. I love the quality of Zoeva
eyeshadows as the colour payoff is always amazing and so is the wear-time.
The mattes especially are just so creamy and easy to work with. The shimmers
aren't quite as butter-smooth as some others in my collection but can still be applied with minimal effort. This palette contains a really good balance of matte
and shimmer shades, as well as giving me the warmer reds, golds and browns along with some cooler taupes and browns. Again I've swatched my favourites but check out my post for an in-depth look at this palette.
This isn't something I'll be reaching for during
the daytime but for the evening I will definitely be wearing my usual winged
liner and it's no secret that this is my favourite. It doesn't smudge or smear,
even on my watery, hay fever-addled eyes! The thin nib helps you get that
really exact, precise, intensely black liner that I love.
Another staple in my makeup bag! I like to go
for something other than black on the bottom lash line so my eyes don't look
too small and these creamy, pigmented pencils are perfect. I use Stag (a
semi-matte charcoal colour) for tight-lining and the other two underneath my
eyes; Smog (a warm golden-bronze shimmer) with a warmer look and Underground (a
taupe-bronze) with a cooler look. They don't smudge, smear or wear away so are
perfect for warmer weather.
Maybelline Lash Sensational is my favourite
mascara so of course I picked up the waterproof version for on holiday again,
as it worked for me last year. It gives a similar look to the original, however
it's slightly stiffer and clumpier (meaning it's a little more prone to
flaking), with a less 'wet' formula. However I do still get amazing length, a
bit of volume and an even more amazing curl that really does last all day. Plus
it never smudges or smears, so it's a small sacrifice for something that's
going to work for me on holiday.
Another everyday product that I won't dwell on
too much! I plan on getting my eyebrows tinted before I go but I'm packing this
just in case. It's really hard to go wrong with it as far as a pencil formula
goes because you just twist up the super-thin tip and the texture is the
perfect middle ground between soft and waxy. The shade itself (I wear Hot
Chocolate) isn't too warm, nor is it grey so just it looks really natural. This
is another product I just know won't let me down in terms of wear-time either.
NYX Tinted Brow Mascara | £5.50
This is my standard duo along with the Soap and
Glory as it adds that bit of colour, volume and hold to my brows without being
thick, clumpy or crispy. Espresso is pretty much the same colour as Hot
Chocolate, so they're the perfect pairing. It has a tiny little wand, making it
quick and easy to apply precisely. It's quite possible that if I've just had my
eyebrows done that I'll only need to use this to tame my brows a bit and fill
in any little gaps.
Lips
This is my sheer, easy-to-throw-on everyday
shade for the holiday. I find the formula nicely moisturising and it has a
fuss-free sheeny finish. The shade itself is a orange-toned melon with hints of
pink that's perfect for this time of year.
MAC Matte Lipstick in Tropic Tonic | £15.50
This is the bright matte option I've brought
along for evening wear. It's quite a daring shade; a very vivid orange-coral
tone that looks amazing when you've got a tan. It's one of MAC's creamier matte
shades but it's still long-wearing on me.
I've also packed a slightly more muted matte
colour to wear in the evenings: this warm, deep brown-toned nude by Gerard
Cosmetics. I love the formula because it isn't drying on me at all but still has
insane longevity, even when you're eating and drinking (and I plan to do a lot
of both...)

Love this edit! I've just picked up the new ABH glow kit and I can't wait to get involved! I love NARS multiples for holiday makeup. Usually, I only wear foundation/base in the evening if its super hot. I'm with you on the Estée Lauder double wear light too - it's a much more summer friendly base!!
ReplyDeleteBeekeyper - Latest - Nuxe Rêve de Miel - in a stick!
Great selection! I wear so little makeup on holiday usually - just concealer, primer, blusher and powder! X
ReplyDeleteSpain holiday with the girls sounds amazing, I hope you will have a great time! I don't have any holidays planned atm, however I would probably take highlighters, lightbase and colourful products like you did:) Golden peach is beautiful. x

DeleteI agree about Lash Sensational Waterproof. It's lovely to hold the curl but I must layer another mascara over it because it's horrid on its own on me. I hate how my lanes become crispy with it.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I've just picked up the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara & am really excited to try it, I've heard so many good things about it. The Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze is one of my summer go-to products. It's so easy & stays put however hot the temperature gets. I love the lip colours you've chosen, a great selection. Teach me how to pack only three lip products for a trip? Have a fantastic time in Spain. Xx

DeleteTropic Tonic is stunning!! I don't think I've ever seen that shade. I'll have to see it in person because shades like that sometimes don't go with my skin tone. This looks like a perfect selection.
