Creating the Spa at Home

I've been loving my pamper evenings later and it's becoming more and more important to take time out as life gets hectic. I thought I'd do a little post on how I create a spa experience at home ahead of many of us returning to work or education tomorrow after a Christmas break. I got home after being away for Christmas and New Year and had the most relaxing experience I can remember with some new products I got as gifts, so I'm going to share exactly what I used.

Neom Happiness Candle | £30

I started by lighting my Neom candle for a fresh, spa-like fragrance. The throw of this is amazing and the fragrance is beautiful; the main note that comes through is lemon but the neroli and mimosa balance the scent so it isn't overly sharp or citric. Plus I love the simple, classic design of this candle and how it burns so cleanly and evenly.

Bamboo Bath Caddy | £12.72

This is such a fab find, I had to share it! This is simply a little wooden tray that fits on top of your bath tub that's perfect for resting a drink (like a herbal tea) and a magazine or book on (another essential for me when I'm chilling out). I also lay out any skincare products on it I want to use when I'm in the bath.

Rituals Heavenly Hammam Revitilising Bath Oil | £13.50

Of course the next thing I do is run a bath. This has a gorgeous eucalyptus scent that's so relaxing and refreshing. Plus it leaves my skin so soft and smooth, I was really impressed. Obviously it's a bath oil so if you want proper bubbles too I'd recommend adding a capful of this to your usual bubble bath.

This is one of those masks that doesn't have any life-changing skincare benefits but just makes your skin feel clean, fresh and soft afterwards. I picked this because I love the warming sensation this creates on my skin and it's perfect for in the bath as it feels like a bit of a spa treatment and the heat also opens your pores up for a deep cleanse.

The fragrance of this is absolutely gorgeous! It's like ginger with a little dash of lemon and the formula is nice and creamy so feels nourishing on the skin. I love how the scent lingers nicely on your skin after use too.

Body Shop Spa of the World Dead Sea Salt Scrub | £20

This is an absolute gem and now I've tried it, I can say it's well worth the higher price compared to the Body Shop's other scrubs. It smells of sea salt and the tub is absolutely huge! The formula is really creamy with large pieces of salt. However the nourishing formula means my skin feels hydrated but the exfoliating particles remove any patches of dead skin.

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm | £38 (for full size)

I got a mini of the cult Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm for Christmas so decided to try it. I will definitely review it properly once I've given it a go for a few weeks but so far, so good. I took a tiny bit of it, warmed it between my fingers and massaged it into my skin. It feels so amazing, I really took my time and enjoyed it.

Essie Chinchilly Nail Polish | £7.99

I like to do my nails when I'm having a pamper and at the moment I'm loving Essie's Chinchilly - a nice everyday winter grey. Whilst they dry I lie back and flick through a magazine.

Mandara Spa Ylang Ylang & Coconut Body Butter* | £6

After my bath it's time to moisturise and this has been a favourite of mine for a while. It's so creamy and nourishing and has a lovely fragrance. The floral balances nicely with the milky coconut and it's not too strong or sickly, which is why I like this so much.

& Other Stories Botanic Whisper Hand Cream | £5

Finally I nourish my hands with this hand lotion (which comes in handy pump packaging!) I picked it up in London from their store and I'm already loving it. It has a lovely sweet orange scent with a hint of floral blossom. It's very light but still hydrating on my dry hands.

What are your favourite spa-at-home products and how do you like to unwind?

  1. Love the sound of most of these products! I live with my parents and sharing one bathroom between four of us means I rarely get much allocated bathroom time! We don't have a bath in my house either! I'm moving out in August, and I'll have two bathrooms, one for me and one for my boyfriend, ha! Will definitely be investing in a bath caddy... so convenient!xx

  2. A pamper evening is always an essential this time of year. The sea salt scrub sounds uh-mazing. I always get scared ones like these will dry out my skin so I'm glad to hear it doesn't. A bath caddy is something I need to purchase ASAP!

  7. I just went to a Body Shop party last night and was eyeing up their Spa of the World stuff, especially that scrub. Looks lush! I usually just use my exfoliating gloves with a shower gel, but might have to treat myself to that next time.

  13. I love the sound of that Neom candle! I've actually been looking for products with Happy in the name as I just think they do a little something to spread some cheer, so I'll be adding this to my wishlist! I love warming masks too. I've not tried TBS one, but I love the one from the Sanctuary, the thermal sensation is amazing!

  19. Wowza these look like the making of a wonderful spa night. Unfortunately I don't have a bath to use so I always find myself pampering myself out of the bathroom. I use lots of masks to pamper my skin and also treat myself with a nice nail pamper. So excited for all the posts to come from you this year girl!
