5 Makeup Brushes Worth the Splurge

Makeup brushes are one of the few things I don't tend to go high-end with, as I think Zoeva and Real Techniques pretty much have my needs covered. However there are a handful of high-end brushes I've come across that are so good I had to share them with you.

This brush was definitely a case of 'once I was blind, now I see'! I always thought I was fine applying light bases with my fingertips but I was so wrong! This brush is so soft and it actually just looks like a powder brush you could use for blusher, bronzer or any other face product. However it works like a dream paired with a very fluid foundation, tinted moisturiser, cc cream or bb gel. It just sort of strokes base products perfectly onto my face. It applies the product so well, giving a flawless but skin-like finish. I've started using tinted moisturisers so much more since picking up this brush; it really has been a game-changer. I got this up in my Sephora haul, so if you're doing an order make sure you add this in!

The shape and bristles of this brush make it unlike anything else in my stash! It has a slightly rounded but very wide, flat shape and the bristles are packed extremely tightly. It's actually designed to work perfectly with the Custom Cover Drops, however it's incredible for any medium or full coverage formula. You barely have to do anything to get a perfect base application. I don't know how it does it but it does! It gives me such a flawless look without any brush strokes; the product goes onto my skin seamlessly. I've not heard much about this brush but it definitely deserves more love!

I'd heard a lot of rave reviews about this brush so I decided to put £15 of my Debenhams Beauty Club card points towards it and finally see what all the fuss was about. Although the rounded shape is what I usually go for in a foundation brush, the texture and the bristles are a little different. There's a good amount of movement in them and they aren't super tightly-packed. This is a great brush for sheering out a heavier foundation for a more natural, daytime look whilst still getting a flawless finish. It's also great for building up coverage where you need it. It's super-quick to use as well; your foundation can be applied in seconds.

This isn't the priciest brush of the bunch but I can see how people may not want to spend £15 on a highlighter brush when you can get a great foundation brush for less. A highlighter brush isn't something I appreciated I needed until I got my hands on this! I'm a bit of a highlighter addict and since getting this brush I haven't used anything else to apply it. The shape is just perfect for precise application and the soft bristles blend the product out perfectly. It always seems to pick up the perfect amount of product and applies it beautifully.

This is definitely one of my most-used eye brushes (though my Zoeva Luxe Definer is pretty similar) and I reach for it just about every day. The domed natural bristles make it the perfect do-it-all eye brush. You can use this to apply an all-over lid colour, blend everything together with minimal effort or apply a crease colour. It's the kind of brush you probably need a couple like it because you're going to use is so much!

What are your must-have brushes that are worth the splurge?
