One-Sweep Eyeshadows

Most of us don't always have time to be blending 3 or more different shades together every morning, so I've put together a little list of my favourite eyeshadow formulas where you can apply one sweep and you're good to go.

This is a bit of a classic and with good reason! It's that perfect neutral bronze-brown-antique gold shade that will suit most people. It's a Veluxe Pearl finish, so has a pretty, pearly sheen as opposed to a full-on shimmer. Once applied I feel like this has a really multi-tonal quality so it's perfect if you only have time to apply one shade.

A mere 1/10 of the price of MAC's are the Mono Eyeshadows from Makeup Revolution (they do come in packaging, I just depotted mine to put in my Z Palette). I can't get over how smooth and pigmented they are for the price! I've chosen So Good for Me, a medium gold shimmer, as it's a really nice colour all over the lid to add a nice wash of colour as well as a dewiness.

I know I don't shut up about this product but I couldn't not mention my #1 'one sweep' eyeshadow! (You can read about my other shades here) It's a sort of solid cream formula that's so smooth and easy to apply and blend out in about 5 seconds with your finger. The bronze-brown colour is the perfect neutral eye shade that goes with just about any makeup look. This is a product I reach for without having to think about it.

I think this is the only drugstore eyeshadow of this texture, though I've come across plenty on the higher end of the spectrum. It's also a cream eyeshadow but has more of a mousse consistency. It does make it a tad messier but it gives a much dewier finish. Bronze is slightly mis-named as its more of a deep brown shimmer. Despite the name I don't find this too glittery either. It isn't the longest-lasting formula in the world but for an evening out it works nicely.

This colour is unlike anything else in my collection; it's a bright coppery-gold shade. Again it has more of a mousse-like texture and blended out on the lid it really looks amazing. It can also look slightly different depending on how it catches the light. The one downside of this is that I do find it creases around the 5-hour mark, which is such a shame.

This is my matte pick of the bunch because it isn't dry and takes no work whatsoever. The formula is super-creamy, meaning it glides on, and it's really pigmented too. Despite being so easy to apply, once it sets in place it lasts the entire day. The taupe colour of this is so wearable as its neither too cool nor too warm in tone, and it also makes a great base.

My love of KIKO eyeshadow sticks is well-documented (read about them all here); the quality definitely puts them up there with products 3x the price. They're creamy and pigmented on application and blend out really nicely but once they're on they stay put until you use an eye makeup remover. Golden Taupe is the shade from the range I think is really quite unlike anything else I've tried; the base colour is a little similar to the Rimmel Scandaleyes but it has a golden shimmer running through it which makes it look that little bit more special when worn on its own.

These are really expensive so if you don't already own them, the KIKO range have near-identical dupes you can read about here. I own a couple of these and maybe I should've gone with Misty Rock for variation but to be honest I've gravitated towards Bronze Moon a lot more recently. The formula is just stunning and gives this beautiful multifaceted dewy look. The colour is that similar bronze-brown shade to the Maybelline but it's a touch deeper.

Which are your favourite one-sweep wonder eyeshadows?

  5. On and On bronze is my go to! 100% It's such a lovely colour. I also have the scandaleyes one too but have yet to use it as I am currently 'panning' products and the On and On bronze is one of those. I just love it with a small winged liner to dash out the door with on my way to work. Stays put forever. I use on and on bronze as a base too. I do have the Ombre blackstar in a different colour to yours and I use that too some times (I can't remember which one though as I really don't reach for it often) x

  7. These are my favourite types of eye shadows! I need the Kiko & Rimmel sticks you showed, they look lovely! Definitely agree about the Maybelline one as well :)
My favourite one sweep shadow is Mac's Mulch - it's like a smokey eye in 2 minutes for me applied all over the lid and smudged on the lower lash line. Always wear it for a quick daytime look if I want a darker eye.

My favourites are the rimmel scandaleye shadow sticks but also the liquid shadow versions which I have a feeling have been discontinued so you can get them for super cheap on fragrancedirect and they're amazing! so pigmented, long lasting and one swipe is all it takes!
