2 Essential Beauty Tools for Under £5! | Born Pretty Store*

I recently had the chance to try a few bits from the Born Pretty Store, so I really had to share with you these two super-handy, super-cheap beauty tools I've been trying out!

Firstly is this little Beauty Blender Dupe* (£1.30). I've never tried the Original Beauty Blender as personally I feel it's the type of product that probably costs pennies to make and also there's just always going to be something else I'd rather spend £15 on! (I wouldn't say no if I got one in a beauty box though...) So I was really excited to try such an affordable alternative. I don't personally use this to apply my full face of foundation, though you certainly could do. I find it great for blending in my concealer or any ropey-looking patches of foundation. I've been a bit fed up with how my concealer never seems to look 'right' at the moment, however this has fixed all that for me. I simply run it under warm water, squeeze out the excess and 'bounce' it roughly across the places where my concealer ends and my foundation begins for a flawless, blended finish.

The second thing I picked up was the Brush Cleaning Egg* (£2.60). Seriously, what was I doing before I had this in my life? Wasting about double the amount of time washing my brushes probably! I damp the bristles of my brushes, mix in a drop of the Dr. Bonner's Liquid Soap and then pop this over my fingers, gently using it to lather it up and get right into densely-packed bristles to clean them fully. There are two different textures on the face of the egg, which you can play around with to see what works for different sizes and densities of brushes. It's certainly a lot more purse-friendly (and even more travel-friendly!) than the Sigma brush-cleaning mat and I feel it performs the same function.

The best part is that you could buy both of these for less than your morning coffee (and probably still have some change left over!) Born Pretty ships for free on all orders (it took mine around 10 days to arrive) and get an extra discount on full-priced items using the code JAZH10. There's really no reason not to!

Have you tried any super-affordable beauty tools?

  1. Well, I had this beauty blender from Born Pretty Store and I would say it is awful! The quality is not near The Original Beauty Blender and there are cheap alternatives in the market, which are worth of trying. I would not recommend this blender to anyone!

  2. I use the Soap & Glory massage glove in the same way as the brush cleaning egg. It seriously saves so much time and product - cleans and rinses brushes twice as fast ! Wouldn't be without it. This one is cute and very affordable so I might pick it up if I ever need to replace my glove :) this one would be good for travelling as well if you want to wash your makeup brushes whilst away or whatever.

  5. I personally use a silicone oven mitt to clean my brushes, but I'm all for trying new things especially with the price of the egg being so cheap!

  8. The brush cleaning egg looks quite funny haha! I have been using a beauty blender from Primark. I don't think it'll last me a long time but it has been working nicely so far! Xx

  9. I've never tried the original beauty blender either, I've always found eBay dupes do a pretty decent job and are surprisingly long lasting! The cleaning egg sounds super useful, washing brushes can be a nightmare sometimes so I definitely think I'll be giving this a go! x

    1. Yeah I'm sure the Beauty Blender is amazing but I really doubt it's 15x better than the price of cheaper alternatives that do the job well! xx

  12. I completely agree with you on the whole 'buying the original Beauty Blender', I've tried dupes which work very well and cost a mere fraction of the price x

    1. Yeah I do tend to stick to brushes for applying the base but a sponge is great for blending in any little spots that need it xx

  23. The brush cleansing egg is exactly what I need and the price of it is so reasonable!
Need to get it quick as my brushes are in need of a wash soon. The beauty blender is such a good tool but I have to admit that it is a bit expensive for what it is~ I'm glad that there is a cheaper alternative to try out.

Great post, I hope you have a lovely day ♥

  25. I also don't have a fancy brush mat by Sigma ... I use a face massaging pad to clean my brushes, it looks a little like that one on picture & works the same (:
