Monday was my 22nd Birthday (*insert Taylor Swift reference*) and whilst I was pretty gutted I wasn't able to get the day off work I did get to meet one of my best mates for a nice little lunch date, but more about that kind of stuff in this week's Sunday Post! Today I'm going to show you some of the lovely gifts I've got. I did pick up a few bits with vouchers and discount codes that companies tend to send you on your birthday but I'll show you those another time. 22 isn't a huge birthday and also my mum is taking me on holiday next month so that's definitely part of my present, but I still feel I have some wonderful things so thank you to all my loved ones!
I have two gorgeous candles I never could have justified buying for myself, but these kinds of things make the perfect gifts, I find... Firstly is Diptyque's Standard Candle in Figuier, which I'd had my eye on for ages. I'm a little obsessed with Diptyque (expensive habit, I know) and love the Philosykos Eau de Toilette so was really pleased to have it's candle equivalent in my life. It's a gorgeous fig scent perfect for summer. The second is the heavenly Jo Malone Sweet Almond and Macaroon Candle, which is as gorgeous (but not-too-sickly) as it sounds. My mum loved the smell of this so much she's gone and bought a similar one from Flamingo Candles, so I'll definitely try and steal that for long enough to tell you if it's a good dupe!
Another of her lovely scents came in the form of the Jo Malone 30ml Cologne in Nectarine Blossom and Honey. The smaller size isn't the best value but I have a lot of fragrances so don't particularly need another huge one and the 100ml are very expensive so I wouldn't have expected someone to get that for me. This size is more travel-friendly though, as a pro. It's a gorgeous light, sweet Spring/Summer scent I can't wait to use!
I got a few lovely makeup bits too. I loved my first one of these so got a second one for my birthday! It's the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure, which is a stunning dusky pink/mauve shade. I already have Luminous Flush which is a beautiful highlighting blush, which is still really nicely pigmented and applies effortlessly, staying in place throughout the day. I also have the Stila Eyes Are the Window Eyeshadow Palette in Soul which I wanted for so long but it's just not that accessible. The slightly more grey shades definitely bring something new to my collection and the packaging is beautiful! Next is something I never thought I'd like: the MAC Viva Glam Miley Amplified Lipstick. I tried it on a whim whilst out shopping with my mum over bank holiday weekend and we both liked it so much she got it for me as a little extra birthday present. If you read my blog a lot you will know I'm a neutrals girl to the death, however there's just something about this neon pink sheeny-finish lipstick that I love. I'm kind of a 'black skinny jeans and striped top' girl and this works really well to give a pop of colour to that look. Finally in the makeup category I have the Too Faced Snow Bunny Bronzer, not an obvious choice for me but as well as working as a bronzer on paler complexions it looks like a lovely golden highlight on warmer skin tones.
My mum and I (on another one of our shopping trips!) somehow found ourselves in Pandora browsing through the stackable rings. I kind of fell for one of the ones in their display photos which they didn't have in stock but we found the stunning Mother of Pearl Ring online and she also got me this Bubble Stacking Ring which I think is really simple and beautiful.
Finally I got a DVD and some books. It's kind of a tradition between my boyfriend and myself to buy each other films or TV shows on DVD to watch together, so in keeping with that he got me Unbroken. It's going to be a difficult one to watch but I was so gutted I missed this when it was out at the cinema so it's lovely he remembered! My mum also got me two blogger favourite books I've been wanting to get hold of for a while: 365 Blog Topic Ideas and Pretty Honest. I'm well overdue a 'what I've been reading' post so I will definitely update you on these once I get stuck in properly.
