What's in my Holiday Makeup Bag?

This time next week I'm going to be in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik, Croatia! I will be scheduling a couple of posts whilst I'm away, however to make up for my lack of presence whilst I'm away, I'm blogging every day this week and it will be all themed around travel and holidays so make sure you come back again tomorrow! Kicking things off is a look at what's going to be in my holiday makeup bag. Whilst I will definitely end up taking more than this for the 6 nights, this is a little look at the products that will definitely be in there.

A Summer beauty post of mine wouldn't be complete without mentioning the Nars Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturiser (£29, post here). It's just the perfect, effortless light holiday base that evens my skin tone without making my face all shiny or dripping off! The Maybelline Instant Eye Eraser Concealer (£7.99, post here) is another one that's so light but really brightens under my eyes in the most natural way possible. It practically blends itself and never looks heavy. I also have the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (£17.50, post here) in the mix as it has such a nice, fluffy texture but gives good coverage too. It works on blemishes as well as under the eyes and it's also a tad darker than my usual concealer as I tan very easily. Three concealers may be a tad excessive but I don't really do 'low maintenance! I'm also packing the Benefit Erase Paste (£20.50, post here) as I just can't be without this under eye corrector and on holiday I know I won't want to be layering on loads of concealer. This really helps reduce dark circles and therefore the need to wear a lot of concealer. Finally I will be taking MAC Studio Fix Fluid (£21.50) for when I'm going out in the evening as it is again a bit of a darker shade to match my (hopeful!) tan. It's got good coverage and is a semi-matte finish which I'm thinking will work well for those Summer evenings.

I'm definitely more into cream and stick products for going away, as I think they're just going to be effortless and natural. I know I go on about this product all the time but I just really love the No7 Instant Radiance Bronzing Highlighter (£9.95, post and swatch here). It's a really great shade for my skin tone and it looks so gorgeously natural on the skin with just the right amount of sheen. I also have the KIKO Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in 02 Golden Peach (£7.90, post and swatch here). This is a gorgeous peach shade with a golden shimmer running through it and gives me that slightly dewy look without leaving my face slippery or going patchy 2 hours later. It's also just ridiculously easy to apply and the packaging very travel-friendly. For lips my everyday shade is going to be the Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel (£17 post and swatch here), as it's a super easy-to-apply, fuss-free pink-brown nude sheer lip colour. Finally I just had to pack the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze (£4.99, post and swatch here), as it's my favourite colour tattoo and just goes well with all the eyeshadow shades I typically wear. I simply use my fingers to spread a bit of this beautifully smooth cream eyeshadow on my lids and blend it out then it easily lasts all day. I also love the sheeny shimmer of this bronze shade.

Finally I have a few must-haves in there that I use most days and can't really live without! Firstly is the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil (£8), as it's so effortless to use and comes with a spooly. It's a low-maintenance look but to be honest, who can be bothered doing a HD brow on holiday? The Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner (£6, post and swatch here) is on its way to holy grail status for me so I couldn't go away without bringing this to do my winged eyeliner in the evenings. Whilst I think I will pick up a clear mascara to wear during the day, I'm taking Maybelline Lash Sensational (£,7.99 post here) to wear in the evenings. This is my favourite drugstore mascara as I find it adds a really great curl and tons of volume and a good amount of length. Lastly, a palette is the best way of getting as much eyeshadow choice as possible when you have limited space, therefore I'm taking the Urban Decay Naked Palette (£38, post and swatches here). I probably won't be rocking eyeshadow during the day however the shades in this are so adaptable for day or night. So I think this is the best way to get as much choice to create as many different looks as possible with one product. I love the bronze-y shades for Summer too!

I hope you enjoyed having a look at what I'm taking with me and maybe got some ideas for low-maintenance makeup.

  7. On and On Bronze is definitely going with me on vacation! I think I will take a lot of cream shadow sticks and eye pencils with me, those don't take up too much space. I traveled with my Naked palette last year and it just takes up half of my make up bag! ^^ :D

  11. Wonderful holiday makeup bag! I'd totally take Naked palette with me too, but I am always afraid that it will smash or sth, so I take a £4 dupe from MUA. ;) I have similar KIKO blusher/highlighter and it is so compact and good to take with me! :)

The erase paste corrector is amaaazing, nothing quite cancels out very dark circles and is still creamy in the same way, such a staple! I've also been pretty impressed with the soap and glory liner recently, it tops the eyeko one in terms of lasting power and it's half the price which is awesome :)
