Spring Edit | Clinique Cheek Pop & Chubby Sticks

Until recently I hadn't actually picked anything up from Clinique's makeup range, however there were too many Spring-perfect products in their line not to have a look...

My first one was a gift from my mum, the Chubby Stick Intense Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in 01 Curviest Caramel (£17). This is still a sheer lip colour but I'd say it's more pigmented and a little creamier than a standard chubby stick. It's a really lovely pink-brown nude for everyday and whilst they aren't really going to last more than 3 or so hours, they're pretty effortless to apply even on-the-go. Although this gives a bit more of a full-gloss finish, I don't find this feels sticky or uncomfortable on the lips at all.

I also picked up a standard formula during the Feel Unique sale, the Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in 02 Whole Lotta Honey (£17). This is a little more of a traditional brown, of course with a warm honey tone. The formula is a little sheerer than the intense version, so personally I don't find it lasts quite as long throughout the day. Again, it doesn't really bother me as the packaging means these are really easy to throw in your handbag and the shape of the bullet means you can apply this so easily.

A fairly new addition to Clinique's line is the Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in 01 Amp'd Up Apple (£19), which I also picked up from Feel Unique. I have mixed feelings about cream and liquid blushes so I was really unsure how I was going to like this. It's a really lovely, natural pinky-peach shade which I think is so pretty for Spring time. You can either dot it straight onto your face then blend it out or swirl your finger around on the product and tap it onto your cheeks; it's completely up to you as everyone's skin is different. I personally often struggle to get blushers (powder or otherwise) to apply evenly, however I found this really effortless to use and the finish of it on the cheeks wasn't too 'shiny' for my combination skin. I think this will be one for on holiday as it's a very natural and effortless product to use. The only downside is that it does seem to fade on me quite a bit after the 5-hour mark and quite patchily too. It's a shame it doesn't last all day however I suppose, considering how travel-friendly the packaging is, you could always throw it in your bag in case you need a touch-up.

Finally, I had enough Boots points to get myself the Cheek Pop Blush in 01 Ginger (£16.50). These are just the cutest, most compact little product ever! Although the name might suggest something brown and muted, this is a really vibrant dark peach colour (even that doesn't seem to quite give a true reflection of this shade). I really like how bold but wearable this is; it's pigmented but won't leave you looking like a clown. I found it applied so nicely and the colour stayed in place all day long. I would definitely love to get my hands on a couple more shades as they're all so Spring-perfect!

So, that's my little round-up of the Spring-perfect Clinique shades I'm currently loving.

Have you tried the Cheek Pops or Chubby Sticks? Did you think they were worth the hype?

  4. I keep going back and forth on the Clinique blushes, a lot of reviews I read say that they don't last very well which is a deal breaker for me... I might just have to try them for myself!
