I’m slightly obsessed with highlighter at the moment (check
out my favourites here) and after mentioning the Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminators (£11.99 each) a
few times, a post on them was well overdue.
I’m not sure why I never spotted these before, as I’ve been after a drugstore liquid illuminator for ages! This one comes in 4 shades and I have 3 of them (the other in the range was just too light for me): Bare Light, Peach Light and Bronze Light. They all have a shimmer to them of course but I wouldn’t describe any of them is glittery. I would say that Bare is the lightest, a beige-champagne tone, Peach is a golden-peach colour (obviously!) somewhere in the middle and finally Bronze is a deep bronze-brown shade.
Bare is definitely my favourite and looks the most natural on me, whereas Peach adds a touch of colour and Bronze adds a more sun-kissed look. You can use them in two ways; either by mixing a little in with your foundation or dotting them across the cheek bone and brow bone then blending them in. I didn’t think I would like Bronze at all, however I found it worked nicely mixed into my foundation, though it didn’t look right just added on as I would a highlighter. Mixing the illuminator with foundation gives the most natural look; you don’t look like you have bits of glitter on your face or anything like that, it just gives you a real glow. It's hard to gauge the wear-time of this type of product but even when used on top of foundation like a standard highlighter, I don't find that these go patchy or streaky over time and also I don't find that the formula settles into pores and emphasises them (no matter how you use them).
£11.99 definitely prices these at the higher end of the drugstore, however I don’t think many of those brands do a product like this (off the top of my head I can only think of the one Seventeen do), especially not in so many shades. Whilst a highlighting product isn’t an essential, if you are a fan looking for a liquid formula but don’t want to fork out for something from Nars or Becca I would really recommend these. I also think Bronze is great for people who find most highlighters on the market too light and frosty for their skin tone, even with a high-end brand it’s hard to find highlighting products in this colour.
Overall these definitely get the thumbs up from me!
Have you tried a liquid illuminator before? Which are your favourites?
I havent tried these before but they sound amazing! I would probably go for Bare as I need a bright, light highlighter colour! Thanks for the review xx

DeleteOh I am getting more into contour and highlighting at the moment and I have been looking for a good priced one and these are right up my street. Thanks so much for the review :)

Hope you enjoy whichever you pick :) xx
DeleteBare looks like the perfect shade for me and I can see it definitely working mixed in with my foundation just to give my skin a nice glow. :)

Yeah I think it would suit you xx
DeleteI saw this in store as well, and just never bothered with it. I like the Bare highlighter though. Pretty *_*
ReplyDeleteAngie x | Chocolate & Lipstick || UK Beauty and Lifestyle Blog
They're definitely worth a second look :) xx
DeleteI love the look of Bare shade! I have the Becca highlighter in Opal which is a bit similar and it looks gorgeous applied underneath a matte foundation but very expensive so will definitely try the Revlon one next time. x
ReplyDeleteMummy’s Beauty Corner
I am still tempted by the Becca ones but not any time soon for me! xx
DeleteI'm not if I would pay that much and I'm not one to highlight.
ReplyDeleteBut I really enjoyed this post.

Thank you xx
DeleteThese look stunning; I have noticed them a couple of times, but I've never really heard anyone talking about them so never picked them up. Bare however looks beautiful swatched and I think that it would make a very welcome addition into my collection!

xx
Yeah I hadn't heard much of them either before I just went for it and picked them up :) xx
DeleteOooh la la!! I have always overlooked these in the drug store!! they look so gorgeous on your skin and will be suitable for all the seasons!! I have to admit I am terrible at highlighting but I am loving the way this looks on you...xx
ReplyDeleteThis is a really easy way to highlight if you don't want to go all the way you can just add it to foundation :) xx
DeleteThe shade bare looks so beautiful! I am a big fan of liquid illuminaters :)
ReplyDeleteRachelShuchatMakeup
I think I am now too! xx
DeleteI've only tried Revlon's lip products, but these look good! x
ReplyDeleteJasmine || blogsallbeautyy.blogspot.co.uk
Their lip products are fantastic :) xx
DeleteI've never read any reviews on these so whenever I have spotted them in Boots I have been reluctant to pick them up. Love the shade Bare, definitely my favourite too and I'd imagine Bronze would be gorgeous on holiday with a tan x
ReplyDeleteBeauty with charm
I hadn't seem much about them either but so glad I took the plunge no :) xx
DeleteLike Alina, I have yet to read any reviews on these so this post is great! I haven't been makeup shopping recently and probably won't for a while but when I do, I'll be sure to pick up Peach, it's so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
Glad this was helpful :) xx
Deletei love the look of bare! i've wanted to try out a liquid highlighter for quite a while so i may give these a go - great post!
ReplyDeletefashion, beauty and an existential crisis
Hope you can pick it up :) xx
DeleteI love the look of these!! Especially 'bare' and 'peach' x
ReplyDeleteBlushhx
They're so pretty :) xx
DeleteI used to have the very pink toned version but it wasn't the right shade for me - the bare shade looks pretty x
ReplyDeleteHeather | Of Beauty & Nothingness x
Yeah that's the one I skipped - Bare is more golden :) xx
DeleteFab post, I have to admit I’ve never spotted these before either. I do like the look of these also, and I do want to try a liquid formula for contouring - great review :)
ReplyDeleteCharlee XO | CharmedCharlee
They're a bit of a hidden gem :) xx
DeleteI love the 'bare' shade, looks the most natural out the bunch. Peach reminds me of the mac lustre drops! I can never get the hang of liquid highlighters though, they make my foundation patchy! Need someone to teach me haha x
ReplyDeletewww.throughneweyesx.com
Yeah it definitely is and oh no, how annoying! xx
DeleteBare looks stunning, just the sort of colour I would pick. I always overlook Revlon!

Mascara & Maltesers
They're so underrated as a brand! xx
DeleteI've got a liquid highlighter from Look Beauty (the brand is by Look magazine) and it's my favourite highlighter. I find the littlest bit goes a long way and it leaves a really lovely peachy toned highlight. I think I got it for about £6.00 from Superdrug but it was a while back so I'm.not sure if they stock it now. I think I'll try one of these next time I'm after a new highlighter :)

I think Look has been discontinued, which is a shame as I too really liked a few things from the range! xx
DeleteI've never noticed these before, but I'm really interested to try Peach! So pretty!!
ReplyDeleteShe Likes to Shop
Definitely check them out :) xx
DeleteI have bookmarked this as bare looks absolutely incredible and not too dark on me as I am so pale I am almost translucent I swear haha thanks for sharing as you've inspired a purchase xxx
ReplyDeleteAw I hope you like it! xx
DeleteBare is the only shade that I think would work on my skin tone but these sound amazing. I've seen these in Boots a few times but never really paid much notice to them. I definitely need to treat myself soon!
ReplyDeleteJordan Alice
Yeah same - I didn't really know what they were, glad I looked into it! xx
DeleteI haven't tried these before but I think bare is the shade that would work for me, lovely swatches!! xx
ReplyDeletewww.angerawrs.co.uk
I'm currently obsessed with 'glowing' skin too, how have I not seen this Revlon beauties before? Definitely going to check them out :)

Thirteen Thoughts
Yes I think they're a bit hidden on the stand and if you did see them it isn't that obvious what they are! xx
DeleteI absolutely adore highlighters. That bare one looks perfect! So luminous :)
ReplyDeleteSarah xxx || www.whatsasssays.com
It's really gorgeous xx
DeleteI love the look of the Bare highlighter - it looks like such a perfect colour that would work perfectly mixed into a foundation!
ReplyDeleteKristy | thevioletblonde.com
It gives such a natural look used like that xx
DeleteI've never tried a liquid illuminator before but all three look lovely! Revlon isn't a brand I buy from a lot for some reason but I'll check 'bare' out next time i'm in Boots! xx

I know what you mean, they don't tend to stand out in the aisle but they have some great products! xx
DeleteThese look really good for drugstore products! Do you think I could use Bronze for contouring? I'd appreciate it if you could answer on Twitter, my username is @mylifeasanu :)xx
ReplyDeleteAnu | My life as Anu
They really are. Hope my tweet helped you decide :) xx
DeleteI always usually avoid liquid products for contour/highlight/blush but these look really lovely! Would like to try the light one or even the lightest one that you didn't go for! x
ReplyDeletejobrlw.blogspot.com
I know what you mean but these are pretty foolproof if you mix with foundation :) xx
DeleteThese look so, so pretty Jasmine, especially bare and peach... I could definitely see myself loving these! :)

Deletebare is really pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely on xx
DeleteWow these look gorgeous! Although I bought the seventeen highlighter recently so I won't be purchasing this at the minute but I might in the future.
ReplyDeleteTara Eavan x
I've never actually tried the Seventeen one - would love to know everyone's thoughts on it xx
DeleteBare looks like a gorgeous shade to mix in with your foundation as well as adding over your foundation :) Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteLauren | Porcelain Queen
You're welcome :) xx
DeleteThese look gorgeous! Love that there's something for everyone, and love that Bare is a warm shade and not super frosty like some paler highlighters!
ReplyDeleteKat | www.kathorrocks.com
Yeah exactly :) and the pink one I skipped is there too for people who do like that xx
DeleteOooh Bare looks like a goregous illuminator to give your foundation a touch of glow. I haven't tried these purely because I thought they might make my oily prone skin oilier and I have read that they have broken people out. Did you find you had a problem with this at all? xx
ReplyDeleteBrenda BusyBee | Makeup Revolution Highlighting Palettes Giveaway
No I didn't at all to be honest - I have combination skin but haven't noticed any negative changes since using these! xx
DeleteI love these Illuminators, Bronze and Peach are my favourite on the Drugstore. i have both the Bronze and Seventeen one but find I reach more for the Revlon Bronze as its gives a nice dewy natural glow to. Plus they look amazing on the skin.
ReplyDelete-Rumbie Love - x
Yeah there really aren't that many on the market at this price-point, I'll have to check out the one from Seventeen xx
DeleteYour blog is so so amazing i'm so glad that I discovered it :)
ReplyDeleteI got pink light and i'm in L-O-V-E with it, it's the perfect highlighter for fair-light skin tones and I only got it because I own like thousands of gold\champagne highlighter and I really felt that I needed a change, I truly recommend pale people like me to check it out, it's fantastic!
i really want to try them xx
ReplyDeletewww.sparklethiscity.blogspot.com
I'm exceptionally pale (the awkward other end of the 'oh god no foundation will ever be the right colour' spectrum) - and I have the pale pink shade. I absolutely adore it - it brightens my brow area perfectly (husband even commented how good they look and he normally wouldn't notice any specific point - just if my face was particularly pretty or not!) and I love the freshness it adds to my face. Lovely product!
