If You Only Buy One Fragrance for Summer...

Guys, I could write poetry on how much I love this fragrance... I have developed a rather expensive love of Diptyque and I'm naming Philosykos Eau de Toilette (£75, 100ml) as my signature scent for this summer.

Diptyque is a French fragrance house which has its own store in London and is stocked in Liberty's of London as well as Space NK and John Lewis branches across the country. The 50ml bottle was £58 whereas the 100ml was £75, so spending just £17 more for twice the amount was a no-brainer for me because at the end of the day you're already spending quite a lot for the smaller bottle so why not go with the better value? I love the chic, stylish glass bottle and think it would look lovely on just about any dressing table.

The fragrance is hard to describe, but I'm going to try! It's just so complex with so many different undertones and as soon as you think you have it pinned down you discover another note. It's somehow deep and woody whilst still being slightly fruity, fresh and perfect for Summer. According to Diptyque, the main components of it are Fig Leaves and White Cedar Wood. The fruity element is quite feminine, whereas the woodiness adds a hint of masculinity. I could honestly smell this all day long and never tire of it!

When I first spray it the fragrance is amazingly strong, though it definitely fades throughout the day to being just about detectable by the time I get home. I don't re-spray during the day as I wouldn't want to carry around something so bulky in my handbag, though Diptyque do make little travel-size versions of this where you get 3 minis for £30, which is something I may well look into. You can also get an intense Eau de Parfum in this, if you want something stronger and more long-lasting.

It's not cheap but personally even if I'm using it every single day, a 50ml perfume usually lasts me a good year so this is an investment. If you find yourself bored of the typical summer fragrances from Boots and Debenhams, I definitely recommend giving Diptyque's unique offerings a go; you won't be disappointed!

What fragrance will you be wearing this summer?

  1. Sounds amazing and I don't think that I have smelt this one, I have only had one chance to smell some of these and I didn't think I was that much of a fan for the price but I do agree that it is worth investing in something that you know you will wear and love :)

  2. This sounds so fab Jasmine! I think I've already mentioned in one of your previous posts that I haven't tried anything from Diptyque before, but I would consider getting this, just from looking at the gorgeous bottle! It definitely looks like something I would reach for at the department store and I love scents that have fig notes.

  10. My summer go to fragrance is J'Adore by Dior. It's light and fresh and stays on all day on me. I have yet to try any from from Diptyque, wonder if it's easily available here.

    1. Yeah it is that readily available in a lot of places it seems - which is a problem for fragrances! xx

  11. Philosykos has long been on the "waiting to be purchased" list since I tried a sample of it almost two years ago. I love anything fig. Diptyque is not so easy for me to access but I'll own it one day. :-)

  13. £75 is definitely not cheap but when you think of it in the sense that it's a 100ml bottle then it's not so bad either as they do tend to last quite a while. I must have a sniff at the Diptique section in Space NK next time I'm there as I never have, but this sounds like a gorgeous fragrance x

  14. That's not a cheap fragrance in the least, however if it lasts all day, I might just give in!!

  15. I have always been intrigued by Diptique fragrances and candles but the price tag always makes me weep. However, this fragrance sounds lovely and it looks like one that's worth investing in. I am with you on purchasing the 100 ml for £75 rather than 50 ml for £58...xx

  16. I never see Diptyque candles & perfumes in store to try but I've heard they're are gorgeous. I'm one for just wearing one perfume until it runs out so I don't have a huge collection. I do love my Japanese Cherry Blossom Eau De Toilette from the Body Shop & my Jimmy Choo perfume right now though. I will keep my out for Diptyque next time I'm in John Lewis.
