10 Current Beauty Favourites Under £10

I’m sure you know by now that I love finding a bargain and the Boots 3 for 2 mix-and-match offer was certainly an incentive to pick up some more drugstore makeup recently! So I decided it was the perfect time to show you some of my 10 favourite products under £10, from almost every category.

First up is foundation; hands down my favourite one I’ve tried from the high street is L’Oreal True Match (£9.99). It reminds me a lot of MAC Studio Fix Fluid, as it has a semi-matte non-drying finish with really great coverage at less than half of the price. Although I have to mix two shades (and even then it’s certainly not perfect!) I think this foundation comes in one of the best shade selections in the drugstore. Whilst it isn’t the most long-lasting product in the world on my fairly foundation-repellant skin, the finish is just flawless without looking caked on. If you’ve never tried this, I thoroughly recommend giving it a whirl.

Next is a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it product: the Maybelline Instant Eye Eraser Concealer (or whatever it's called...) (£7.99, review here). Obviously, as it’s in this post, I fall into the ‘love it’ category! I know a lot of people think the applicator is unhygienic and whilst the concept of it does gross me out, I really don’t think it’s any less sanitary than the standard doe-foot. Also, this is something you’ll only really use under your eyes, if it was for blemishes that would be another story! In some ways the applicator is great as it means the product basically blends itself in. It doesn’t matter how much you use, it will never go cakey and I find this perfect for using with a lighter base where a heavier concealer (like the Collection Lasting Perfection) would be too much. I generally use a corrector then this on top to blend it all in and hide even my intense dark circles all day long.

I’ve sort of merged the blusher and highlighter category into one in the form of Max Factor’s Crème Puff Blush in Alluring Rose (£8.99, review and swatches here). If you have a lighter complexion I’d recommend the shade Seductive Pink, but for medium to darker skintones Alluring Rose is perfection. It’s such an interesting copper-rose shade, I really haven’t seen anything similar to on the high street. It does have a little glitter in there, but I promise it isn’t visible on the face (as I hate that!), it just produces a beautiful highlighting glow. I find that this applies really beautifully and lasts well over the course of my pretty long days.

I posted recently on Rimmel’s Brixton Brown 5-Pan Eyeshadow (£6.99) and it’s still a firm favourite (review and swatches here). It doesn’t look like much but the shades work beautifully together and the red shade takes what could’ve been a fairly standard brown quad to another level. They’re a really nice texture, very pigmented and last pretty well on the eyes.

This one is cheating a little as the one I have is from the more expensive Rose Gold set, however you can also get the Zoeva Luxe Petit Crease Brush individually for a mere £6.95. This is potentially my #1 can’t-live-without-eye brush (I rank it perhaps even higher than the MAC 217), so I can’t recommend it enough at that price. I use this every day to apply a matte brown crease shade and the bristles blend it in perfectly whilst the shade fits exactly into the crease. I don’t know what I was doing to my eye makeup before I got this but it will change your makeup life.

I know I rave about the KIKO Long-Lasting Stick Eyeshadows (£7.90, review and swatches here) all day every day, but they really are that amazing! My favourite shades are 06 Golden Brown and 05 Rosy Brown, but there really is a shade in there for everyone. These are both gorgeous neutral shimmers; 06 being an antique gold shade and 05 being a mauve-y colour. The pigmentation is insane and so is the texture; it’s so creamy and blend-able. You have a good 30 seconds to work with them before they set and stay in place until you remove them. They’re one of the most adaptable products in my arsenal as they’re perfect as a base, blended out as an all-over lid colour or used as eyeliner. I really haven’t given similar high-end products from Laura Mercier, By Terry and Bobbi Brown a second thought since getting my hands on these.

A more recent discovery has been the Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner (£6, review and swatch here). I did say I’d update you and I can tell you this is just as inky and pigmented as the first day I used it, and it hasn’t left my side since then. I went shopping last week and genuinely got stopped twice and complimented on my eyeliner and it was all because of this! It’s so easy to apply and the shape is incredible for getting your perfect feline flick. I was always a big fan of gel liner, as I found a lot of these felt pen products too scratchy or they just ran out after a couple of weeks, but no such problems with this! I now prefer this to gel as it lasts all day with no transfer on my oily eyelids. If you, like me, can’t be without your winged liner you should get acquainted with this amazing product.

Soap and Glory gets a second mention in this post as I’ve also been enjoying their Archery Brow Pencil (£8). There is a pen version and a pencil version (I picked up the latter) and each unfortunately only come in two shades. However I found Hot Chocolate was perfect for me. It can be really hard to find high street brow products for brunettes that aren’t too warm and red-toned. Hot Chocolate is that perfect, slightly ashy tone for dark hair. I love the twist-up function as I think it actually lasts longer because unlike with a traditional pencil you don’t have to keep it constantly sharpened to get a natural look. With this you can easily sketch in the individual hairs with one end then use the spooly end to brush it out for a natural look. It’s definitely an everyday look as opposed to a really dramatic brow, but that’s exactly what I look for personally.

For mascara I've included my all-time favourite from the drugstore: Maybelline Lash Sensational (£7.99, review here). A bold claim, I know but to be honest I rate this more than the much-hyped Benefit Roller Lash, as it gives a lot more volume. It also has a curved wand to ensure an amazing curl without eyelash curlers and I still think it's nicely lengthening.

Finally, no post of mine would be complete without a good lip product. At the moment I’ve been reaching for the Bourjois Colourboost Lip Crayon in Sweet Macchiato (£7.99, review and swatch here) just as much as I have my Clinique Chubby Stick. It’s a reddish-brown sheer lip colour that’s perfect for everyday. It’s not glittery and just gives a great glossy finish without being really high-shine. Obviously it doesn’t last long on the lips, but I wouldn’t expect this kind of product to.

  21. There have been many beauty bloggers who claimed that the Maybelline Lash Sensational is much better than Benefit Roller Lash. I have yet to try Roller Lash but I 100% agree Lash Sensational is brilliant. Also agree on that Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer, it's currently holding a HG status for me. I have yet to try True Match but it's definitely next on my list to buy, have read great reviews on it and it's supposedly a dupe for one of Giorgio Armani's foundation.

  33. I used to love True Match Foundation...that is until I came to the UK. The formula is completely different than the one in North America, and though I have gone back a few times to re-try, I always feel it was a waste.
