What's in my Makeup Bag? | March

I think it's now officially Spring so I thought I'd update you on what's in my makeup bag and my Muji drawers. I've been switching quite a few things up lately and these products have been really working for me. Do let me know if you enjoy this, as I could make it a monthly feature.

Base

I have to say I wasn't a fan of the new matte foundation, however I think the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer (£7.99) is a really great drugstore option. It helps reduce shine and smooths over the skin, making base makeup last longer. A great drugstore primer at last! Next I've been using the Nars Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturiser (£29), which is one of the few that doesn't give me a super-shiny face. It's light coverage but evens out your skin tone and gives it a bit of 'wow'. I love applying it with the Nanshy Buffed Base Brush (£9.95), which is great for any light or liquid-y base. I've recently re-discovered the Benefit Erase Paste (£20.50) and I love it! With a light base the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (£22) can be a little heavy under the eyes so I use the Erase Paste then dab a little bit of the Nars on top. The Nars is also my go-to for blemishes. As always I finish up with the perfect 'matte but not flat' powder: Bourjois Healthy Balance (£8.99).

Eyes

The Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creamy Beige (£4.99, post and swatch here) is a perfect neutral eyeshadow base. I love the shade and how it isn't really shimmery but isn't quite matte. On top of it I've been loving the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette (£32). It took me a while to really appreciate this palette but now I do I can't stop wearing these everyday nude shimmers and mattes. I'm rarely without a KIKO Long-Lasting Stick Eyeshadow and my shade of the moment is 06 Rosy Brown (£6.90, post and swatch here). I love these across the lid, as a base or as an eyeliner for the lower lash line and this shimmery mauve is gorgeous. I can't stop using the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($19), which scares me as it's going to be hard to replace in the UK! It's just so pigmented and applies amazingly I can't bring myself to use anything else. I'm also having to convince myself to use anything other than Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara (£7.99, post here). Every time I put it on I just think 'damn, you're good!' Finishing up the eye area is a duo I'm definitely dedicating a post to soon: Maybelline's Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara (£4.99) and the Brow Satin Eyebrow Pencil (£5.99). I even up the shape with the Brow Satin's wind-up pencil end, dust a bit of the powder through them using the smudger end and then seal it all in place with Brow Drama (which is also tinted).

Cheeks & Lips

It's so rare that I love a blusher, my skin type just seems to always leave them looking patchy but not with Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating ($26). It's the perfect peach shade and I love applying it with the Zoeva Luxe Cheek Finish Brush (£12.50 for the standard brush, £55 for the Rose Golden 2 set, post here). I was dying to find an affordable liquid highlighter and stumbled up on the Revlon Photoready Skinlights in Bare (£11.99) which is illuminating but not glittery. Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl (£23) has barely left my lips lately. It's such a comfortable formula for a matte and I love the mauve shade for both day and night.

All of the above things, but on my face...

What's in your makeup bag this month?

  5. I absolutely love the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, I agree it definitely has a wow factor :). I haven't tried any Two Faced products yet, I will have to have a swatch of the Natural Eye Palette when I next see it, they look like my sort of colours!

  10. I haven't tried the natural eyes palette, and now that Too Faced came out with a matte version, I am probably leaning more towards that one because they do my favorite matte shadow formula!
    Lovely photo btw :)
