The Spring Beauty Wardrobe

It's sort of, almost Spring! Plus, Valentine's Day is over the weekend. So I'm starting to put away my matte browns and vampy dark shades and get out my pinks and light golds! Here's a little look at the bits I'll be wearing this season...

I love Barry M nail polishes (especially the high-gloss Gelly formula) so I'll definitely be wearing these two pastel shades; Almond and Lychee (£3.99 each, buy both here).

In terms of makeup bases, I like to go for something more lightweight during Spring/Summer. I've picked out the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation (£31), as it has such a natural but flawless finish. My favourite concealer to pair with these kinds of bases is the Maybelline Anti-Age Eye Eraser (£7.99) as it blends in perfectly, giving coverage without being too heavy. Finally I'll finish it off with the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder (£8.99), as I have a seriously shiny face! It keeps the shine at bay without making things too matte and powdery so you still get the glowing Spring skin.

For Spring I'm feeling pink-y gold highlighters, not too frosty but not too golden. Mememe Cosmetics do two liquid highlighters called 'Beat the Blues' quite similar to those by Benefit. For Spring I love the colour Pearl Pink (£5.95) for an illuminating glow on the cheekbones. I also really like the Topshop Glow Pot in Gleam (£9) I didn't like this for a while but gave it another go quite recently and completely changed my mind on this cream highlighter! It's a lovely colour and is subtle enough to wear in the daytime. All the Makeup Revolution Radiant Lights Highlighters are beautiful (see my review and swatches here) however my favourite has to be Breathe (£5). I think it's the perfect shade for me and it's just so subtle and natural.

I've been back to an old favourite recently; the Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in Pink Lemonade (£9.99). There's a cool pink, a medium pink cream formula and a warmer pink, so just about everything you need! My favourite is the cream colour, Macaroon and it's also a really nice base to put one of the others on top of. A total classic is Nars Orgasm (£23), it's that perfect peachy, shimmery shade that will flatter just about anyone! Finally I have a cream formula, to get a more dewy look: KIKO's Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in 02 Golden Peach (£7.90). The colour isn't dissimilar to Orgasm, but it's a little brighter. It applies so nicely if you dot it on with your fingers and gives a really natural flush of colour.

I'm a bit of a cream eyeshadow junkie and my spring pick is the
KIKO Long-Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 05 Rosy Brown (£6.90). It's a lovely, mauve-y shimmer perfect as a liner, a base or on it's own. A lovely brightening golden-champagne eyeliner for the waterline is Essence's Long-Lasting Eye Pencil in 22 Ms. Moneypenny (£1.50). Pink nude fans should get their hands on the super-creamy Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner in Eastend Snob (£2.99). Admittedly the next two lip products are pretty similar! I have MUA Shade 11 (£1), the sheen-ier of the two, and the more velvet-textured Soap and Glory Perfect Day (£9). Both are slightly dusky pink shades, which I love for any time of year. A brighter option is MAC Fanfare (£15.50) and a slightly peachier pink is Sleek's Barely There (£4.99).

Natural Collection is pretty much 'Spring' in a brand so I've included a couple of their single eyeshadows; the mauve-brown matte Milk Chocolate and the bright golden shimmer Barley (£1.99 each, buy both here). Finally I've got a palette in there: Makeup Revolution's Iconic Dreams (£4, full swatches and review here). These shades just scream 'Spring' to me, with the gorgeous green, pink and gold neutrals.

I had a bit of a scheduling glitch today so there are two posts! Check out my other post on the all new UK Maybelline Colour Tattoos here :)

  1. You are right spring is just around the corner and I am starting to think about putting away the dark lippy and getting out some of the pinks, although I now have seen that I don't have that many spring/summer lipsticks. Good excuse to get some shopping done.
Love the Sleek blushers so much and need to also pick that one up!
    Great post as ever :)

  3. Are the Natural Collection products decent?I always wander around their stand in Boots but can't bring myself to buy something THAT cheap - it's not that I don't like cheap, all of my makeup is drugstore-bought, but I always end up telling myself that for 2 extra pounds I can get something from Bourjois or Maybelline and be sure I'm not getting something completely awful...I'm sure I've been missing out on so many gems!
