Autumn/Winter Candle Favourites

Me and my mum are both candle junkies so there are a lot of fragrances to choose from in my house! These are my favourites for this time of year...

I'm a big fan of Yankee Candles. New this year is Cookie Swap, which I believe is only available in the medium size, a mix of Gingerbread and Christmas Cookie. It's a lovely blend of the nutty spice of gingerbread and the subtle vanilla-shortbread fragrance of Christmas Cookie, which is another favourite of mine. I can seem to find my large jar of this so I've popped the mini one I have from the Christmas gift set in this post. It was almost constantly burning from when I got it for Christmas until about March!

Also from Yankee, but not specifically Christmas-themed I have the amazingggg all-time favourite: Banana Nut Bread. This appears to have been discontinued in the UK so I'm trying to save the tiny bit I have left and I'm hoping my boyfriend can bring me a new one back from New York! I did have some problems with the wick so I guess I got a faulty one, hence the mess. But it honestly smells as though someone is baking up some banana-y nutty yumminess in the kitchen whenever I use this. I also have Warm Spice (which I think might be my mum's...) which is just a really lovely homely scent that's not too overpowering. Downstairs we have Salted Caramel, which is quite a subtle one actually. If you're in a large room you won't necessarily be aware of the fragrance but if you walk in from outside it's just: YUM.

I also have another food-y one (sorry if you don't like those types of candles, you're probably in the wrong post!) from Village Candles, which is a brand I don't hear enough about. Maple Butter (medium unavailable so I've linked to the large) is possible my second-favourite candle after Banana Nut Bread and for similar reasons. It's not necessarily one you're going to burn all day in a small room, as like all these types of fragrances it might get a little sickly. But oh my gosh the buttery, syrupy scent is just HEAVEN; I've genuinely had people think I've been baking after I've had this burning.

Finally I have a fresher Christmas scent; Lily Flame's Fairy Dust. It's just a nice clean fragrance a little like baby powder. It's quite subtle and leaves the room smelling fresh. I also really like the Clinton's Spiced Buttercream Candle (it's quite similar to Warm Spice - sweet but with nutmeg-y notes), but it's a new addition to the collection so I couldn't really include it. I couldn't find it online but it's £7 in stores. If you're feeling inspired to make purchase after reading this there's a buy-two-get-two-free on Yankee Candles through My Voucher Codes!

What kind of candles do you like for this time of year?

  2. I had a large jar of the banana bread. I'm gutted it's gone now :( My new favourite this year is definitely the salted caramel, it's out new large jar for the lounge. We have 'icicles' in our bedroom which is a fairly neutral, but very fresh smell :) I love Yankee :)
