It took me a worrying amount of time to get that title right (control prime and shine? Shine control prime?...)
Anyway, this is the new primer from one of my favourite low-cost brands, Sleek, retailing for just £7.99. I have serious facial shine problems so I thought this was worth a shot!
I found this a lot more like a traditional primer than the Rimmel Stay Matte, but it still wasn't exactly like a silicon-based one. As you can see it's a sort of nude colour (which doesn't make a difference once it's applied).
Once it was on I saw a noticeable decrease in the amount of shine on my face. My skin wasn't quite as silky smooth as it would be with a silicon primer, but it still felt pretty nice. I found my foundation applied a little better than to a bare face but this did not noticeably smooth out my pores or fine lines.
It kept my face relatively matte throughout the day (I still would have to re-apply my powder once or twice over a working day) but I didn't really feel it held my makeup in place for much longer than without a primer. I'd say if you have mild-to-moderate shine I would spot-use this product in your oily areas on top of a more smoothing primer.
Which products do you love for reducing facial shine?
I love Sleek makeup and I really want to give this ago now :) I love using my l'oreal primer :)

I haven't tried that one, I'll have to look it up :) x
DeleteGreat post, I've been eyeing this up because I get super oily too! I love using the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose powder to reduce shine, one application in the morning with a little more focus around my nose usually see's me through the day! I really recommend it if you don't mine loose powders :) xx

Ooh thanks for the tip, I've never tried that one! x
DeleteGreat review... Haven't tried anything from Sleek in a while so I might give this a go. I'm oil slick central too unfortunately! I use the Benefit Stay Flawless primer religiously (pricey, but it really is like pritt stick for your face it holds my makeup on all day and controls shine!) and I am never without oil blotting papers in my bag :) x

I never hear so much about that Benefit primer, but anything shine-controlling and I'm there haha x
DeleteCool pick. I don't think we have access to this in the states. My go to method for de-shining is just a little bit of powder. I haven't found a magic product yet. :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure you can order from Sleek online to the US, I definitely recommend their products :)
DeleteIt definitely feels like there's an endless quest for a miracle product! x
Sounds like a nice product, I suffer from oily skin and this might be worth trying!!!
