When I saw Sleek had released an eye and cheek palette I knew I had to have it! For me Dancing Til Dusk (£9.99) was the natural choice as I'm such a neutrals kind of girl! So here is the full review with swatches and a road-test...
I have to admit I was a little disappointed to discover so much of the palette was simply copied from existing products in Sleek's line. There are 2 blushers (one of which is Sahara, part of Sleek's existing line) and all the eyeshadows are taken from the existing Au Naturel i-Divine Palette. That means there's one original product in the palette. Whether it's still worth buying depends on how much you like the one new blusher and which Sleek products you already own.
It comes in the usual sleek black packaging (which tends to hold marks), closes magnetically and has a cheek brush and a sponge eye applicator (I don't think I'll be using either).
There are 2 blushers: Mirrored Pink (a pink shade with silver shimmer running through - think a pink/silver version of Rose Gold) and Sahara (this is the one from the existing line, a matte orange).
From the Au Naturel Palette we have Cappuccino (beige/taupe matte), Mineral Earth (cool-toned brown shimmer), Taupe (champagne shimmer - not sure why it's called taupe!) and Regal (cool-toned purple-brown matte).
Here are the swatches:
From left to right: Mirrored Pink, Cappuccino, Mineral Earth, Taupe, Regal and Sahara
Mirrored Pink applies pretty nicely and it has a good level of pigmentation - you're definitely getting the colour payoff but you don't look like a clown after one swipe! It lasted me up to 6 hours.
All eyeshadow shades on eyes, Mirrored Pink on cheeks
For the eyeshadows these are pretty much my favourite shades from the Au Naturel palette! Cappuccino could be a little more pigmented but it's fine as just a base colour, Mineral Earth is my favourite and helps you create a bit more of a smokey look. Taupe is the perfect highlight shade for the brow bone and inner corner of your eye, Regal is what I use in my crease. They all applied nicely, with minimal fallout and lasted me the day!
Sahara on cheeks
The Sahara blusher was a little hard to apply evenly as the matte formula tended to cling to dry patches on my cheeks. Once I got it on I really loved it though! I think this would look incredible against dark skin as well. This one again lasted up to 6 hours and right towards the end it did go a little streaky.

For a Sleek beginner or someone who doesn't have a lot of their range, this is the perfect little eye and cheek starter kit. If you already own most of their stuff (unless you have a burning desire to own Mirrored Pink) I would probably give it a miss or take a look at the colours in the other Eye & Cheek Palette.
For me, it's handy to have the best shades from Au Naturel and it contains 2 blusher shades I don't have. The quality of all the shades is great, it really just depends if you already have most of this palette.

This is slightly disappointing that its all just products they already have but like you said it's handy if you don't have much sleek products. x

Yeah, I've tried to review it objectively as though I don't own most of this already, but I was expecting actually new products as it's been so long since Sleek released anything new! x
DeleteMy favourite is the Sleek oh so special eyeshadow palette, I loved the idea of this palette but after reading this I've realised I've probably got similar shades in the existing sleek palettes I have so it wouldn't be worth it :) xx
ReplyDeleteVelvet Blush
That was me! I snapped this up because I liked the idea of it but I wish there'd been original shades in it :( x
DeleteThis looks so pretty! Im obsessed with sleek blushes!

I've only tried on blush from Sleek (which isn't in the palette) so for me these are still good value - I agree though, it would have been nice to see more original shades, especially for Sleek junkies who already own most of their products already xx

This looks like it would be so handy for traveling with.

ReplyDeleteI have the other colour in this palette, See you at Midnight
ReplyDeleteIt's got eyeshadows from the Romance palette and blush in Pomegranate and Antique blush also. Its just gorgeous! *_*
Sleek's blushes are so amazing in their pigmentation that i barely need to touch the product at all to pick up all i need
I seriously cant envision touching pan ever
Yeah I totally agree about the pigmentation - maybe I should try the other shade as I don't have the Vintage Romance palette or Antique Blush :) xx
