The Fragrance Files

Fragrance is a topic that doesn't get enough love on my blog! I guess it's probably because I tend to stick with products that have often been in my collection for years, as of course it's much more of an investment than your average makeup product. Today I'm going to talk through the highlights of the home and personal fragrances I own.

Nuxe Bougie Prodigieuse Candle | £7 | & Prodigieux Le Parfum | £44.50 | This is probably one of my favourite scents in the world, so I have the candle and the fragrance, but also two versions of the body oil... It's a warm, full scent that's rich and deep but summery, all at the the same time. The notes include orange blossom, magnolia and vanilla. The candle is sadly only available during the winter and in mini form, otherwise I'd be using it a lot more! Despite it being small, the scent fills the room in minutes and with the personal fragrance, it lasts incredibly well on my skin, still being noticeable at the end of the day. If you love how the famous oil smells then definitely check out these two.

Diptyque Noisetier Scented Candle | £47 | This is an empty and, as it was quite an investment, I decided not to repurchase it until I've used up some of the candles I have, however that doesn't stop it being an all-time favourite! This scent is so unusual - it's hazelnut but also has this unique sweet undertone. It has amazing throw and lasted me a decent amount of time plus, when I could finally bring myself to use up the last bit, I cleaned it out and used it as beauty storage.

Diptyque Oyedo Eau de Toilette | £90 | It was a close call between this and the other Diptyque scent I love - Philosykos - but Oydeo has been my favourite over the past year or so. It's such a beautiful, complex fragrance with notes of mandarin, yuzu, raspberry and thyme. The result is something fresh and citric with this very slightly woody undercurrent. It's an EDT but it's a really strong fragrance that settles onto the skin beautifully and doesn't fade until after 8+ hours. I also love the design of the bottle - all of Diptyque's fragrances have these intricate, unique illustrations that really make them stand out on your shelf.

Clean Reserve Sel Santal* | £39 (in a 6-piece set) | This is such a different scent for me and I'm so glad to have it in my collection; it's woody and warm at the same time as being crisp and fruity. Its notes include bergamot, mandarin, sandalwood, amber and fig which work together beautifully so I'd say it's more of a spring / summer scent for me. I'd definitely recommend checking out the set that I got this from because it's such a great introduction to this brand's fragrances.

Molton Brown Rosa Absolute Fragrance Reeds* | £45 | These diffusers are an investment but I got one in February of last year and there's still half of the bottle left, so they do last. The fragrance of Rosa Absolut is so nice and noticeable - I'm finding myself needing to burn candles much less frequently to get a nice aroma in the air because I love this scent so much. It's a deep, rich rose-based scent that also has notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, patchouli and more.

Ormonde Jayne Petits Fours: Ta'if, Sampaquita, Osmanthus & Passionate Love* | £21 | Ormonde Jayne is very much a premium fragrance brand but you can test our four of their scents of your choice in this set of minis to see what's worth the investment. These are perfumes, so they do have a stronger, more long-lasting quality. Ta'if is a deep, heady floral blend that includes rose oil, saffron and amber. Sampaquita is still floral but much lighter with a slightly fruity edge and the notes include lychee, sampaquita absolute and magnolia. Osmanthus is probably my favourite as it's slightly more fruity and crisp and its notes include osmanthus absolute, cedarwood and waterlily. Finally there's Passionate Love (probably the least 'me' of the four), quite an earthy scent that includes neroli, nutmeg and musk.

Comfort Zone Tranquility Candle | £25 | I'm a huge fan of this entire collection - the Tranquility fragrance is just a scent I want to be covered in and surrounded by at all times! It's just so warm, relaxing and unintrusive. The notes include sweet orange and cedarwood. It burns well, has lasted me a while and is a pretty big candle, so I think it's very good value too.

Jo Malone Nectarine & Honey Blossom Cologne | £90 | Jo is obviously the queen of feminine, floral scents that are perfect for spring and this is my favourite from her range. As it's a cologne, it's more of a light splash of fragrance, but it does last on my skin. This is a perfect balance of fruity and floral, giving a very fresh and young feel.

Aromatherapy Associates Relax Candle* | £42 | I've seriously made my way through this candle rapidly, which is my only negative because of the price-point. It's just this lovely relaxing, enveloping spa-like, slightly woody fragrance that includes myrrh and bay.

Ormonde Jayne Orris Noir Scented Candle* | £65 | This is obviously quite a pricey option, of course, but it does have a very premium feel, it's quite a big candle and it comes with a lid to keep the wax fresh. It pretty much fills any room with its scent within minutes and it burns very cleanly and evenly. The scent itself is a floral, slightly-smoky, deep, heady blend that includes chinese cedar, bergamot and iris.

  7. I kept telling my husband that I want to splurge on my first expensive candles but he looked at me like I've lost my mind. Buying a $50 candle is burning money to him. LOL!
