I have a couple of pretty epic review posts coming up, so today I thought I'd keep it simple and share with you my current 5(ish...) minute makeup routine, which is pretty appropriate at the moment because I seem to be going from one cold to another and on sick days, makeup isn't high on the list of priorities!
I start by reaching for one of my favourite 2-in-1 products: the Glossier Priming Moisturiser | £18. I love how fresh this feels on my skin - I'm combination so this is the perfect level of hydration to leave my skin fresh and smooth (though they do have a Rich version for dry skin types) and it has enough 'stick' to make sure my makeup lasts. Next I go in with the Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser (St. Moritz) | £30 | review | which can be applied with the fingers or my trusty BeautyBlender* | £16 | for a natural, skin-like finish. It just makes my complexion look fresh and healthy with minimal effort. It gives a light-medium coverage that evens out the tone of my skin and makes it look radiant but not shiny. It also lasts really well on me!
I'm currently obsessed with the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (Medium) | £22. It really is worth the hype! It doesn't crease so you don't have to faff around with baking or whatever else and it just gives amazing coverage and brightens up under my eyes in seconds. Again, I just use this with a damp BeautyBlender and it's really long-lasting. The natural but full coverage means it's also great for masking any redness or imperfections. I then do a very quick 2-second blot-away with the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural (Medium Dark) | £24.50. This is the most foolproof powder I've ever tried - it has coverage but never looks heavy or caky (in fact it has quite a luminous finish). It gets rid of any t-zone shine and the compact means that if you don't have time, you can just throw it in your bag and apply it on the go.
On the cheeks I'm really into the Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze* | £10. It's a really great product when you're in a rush because it's a nude-bronze shade with a golden sheen, so acts as a highlighter, blusher and bronzer all in one! It adds a natural hint of colour to the cheeks, isn't so pigmented that you have to be really careful and applies smoothly and evenly (plus won't go patchy during the day). For the lips, the Lancome Juicy Shaker in Vanilla Pop | £19.50 | is a great option. It's essentially a tinted lip oil so gives the look of a gloss without the thick stickiness. It's quick and easy to apply and gives a warm berry wash of colour to the lips whilst moisturising them at the same time.
Lastly, I tackle the eyes. I can't not do anything with my pitiful brows, but Glossier's Boy Brow (Black) | £14 | is a quick and easy option. It has a tiny little brush so doesn't get messy and the formula adds volume, hold and colour to the brows in just a few quick swipes. For eyeshadow and liner I opt for the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Bronze Moon | £29. It comes in a twist-up stick, so I swipe it on my eyelids and blend out with my finger, which takes a few seconds before using it to line underneath my eyes. It's the perfect product for making it look like you made effort when you really didn't! It has a dewy-effect finish and is a universally-flattering bronze. One it sets down it won't budge. Finally, a bit of mascara is essential! The Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £8.99 | is a great all-in-one. It gives my lashes a clump-free volume boost and lengthens and curls all at once, plus it never really flakes or smudges.

Hehe, I always thought I would never be able to. But I cut out so many products especially foundation and I seem to make it. Takes me a lot less time to get ready.

I don't know if I can get ready in 5 minutes but I must try! Those By Terry sticks are ideal for busy mornings! xx

I wish I was capable of applying my makeup in 5 minutes - I somehow struggle to get on even the bare minimum in 15! I've had a lot of rushed mornings this month though, and Boy Brow has been a real hero product, saving me from actually having to put any time into my brows!

I can do my full face is 10 minutes, but I don’t think I could ever do 5 minutes haha! Great post! Loved it xx

I can never do a 5 minutes face, my eyebrows themselves take 5 minutes! LOL! I think the quickest I managed was 15 minutes.

The Maybelline Mascara is part of my quick routine usually and for my brows I tend to go for Benefit Gimme Brow xx
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the Priming Moisturizer at the moment, it really does save time in my makeup routine! :)

If I want to succeed at a five-minute makeup look I could only use about half of the products you're using haha - practice makes perfect I guess! The By Terry Ombre Blackstar is beautiful, I have one too and it's indeed a great way to wear a beautiful look that takes about ten seconds to apply.
ReplyDeleteFor quick looks I mainly use concealer, powder, mascara, blusher and lipstick - and no more! Which is most days actually. I put more effort at the weekends!

LOVE a 5 minute makeup look. I rely on a tinted moisturiser, cream blush and bronzer, brow gel and a lip balm for this! Lots of rubbing in with fingers! Lovely product choices.
