It's time for the next instalment of 10 Products to Add to YourBasket and this time we're talking Cult Beauty! As always I've tried to pick products that I immediately associate with this website and aren't available in many other places, so I hope this post gives you some inspiration for your next order.
HudaBeauty Liquid Mattes in Girlfriend & Trendsetter | £18 each | It was tough to choose which product should represent this brand for my post, having recently discovered Huda's amazing eyeshadows, however the liquid lipsticks just edged ahead of her other products for me. This is one of my absolute favourite liquid lipstick formulas - it has a really fluid consistency, however sets down to a totally matte finish that lasts for hours, even when I'm eating and drinking. What I really love about them is how opaque and pigmented the colour is, as well as how they don't feel uncomfortable or cling to dry patches (they're also easy to reapply without things getting messy). Girlfriend is the perfect sandy-beige nude that's just darker than my skin tone and Trendsetter is a reddish-terracotta brown nude. A normal person might not need both these colours but trust me: I do!
Anastasia Beverley Hills Glow Kit in Sundipped* | £41 | I actually only got this recently and, as I had a different Glow Kit that had some warm tones in it, I'd never paid this palette much attention. Fast-forward a couple of months and I love it way more than the other Glow Kit I had and it contains some of my most loved highlighting shades. The formula is just amazing - it's so incredibly smooth and doesn't 'sit' on the skin like a typical powder, so although the highlight it gives is amazingly intense, it doesn't look unnatural. There's no trace of glitter in these shades and they have a gorgeous, dewy look on the skin. I use every shade in here but my favourite has to be Tourmaline, a unique cool bronze. Bronzed is a warm golden-bronze, Summer is a warm, almost iridescent yellow-gold and Moonstone is a very light, frosty gold.
Cover FX Custom Enhancer a Drops in Rose Gold & Sunset* | £34 each | I know I'm late to the party, but these kinds of bronzing and highlighting drops have been one of my favourite beauty discoveries of the year. Obviously I have a mini here in Rose Gold from a set but if I ever use it up (though I'm not sure how likely that is with this kind of product) then I'm definitely going to get the full-sized version. It's just the perfect warm rose gold liquid highlighter that genuinely looks like molten metal. It obviously gives an incredibly intense highlight when dabbed on over your foundation, even just with a couple of drops (I blend it out with a damp sponge). You can also mix a drop or two in with your primer or foundation for a subtle, all-over glow. Sunset is the darker of the two bronzing shades from this collection - it's unlike anything I've ever used before and I'm totally obsessed. It's a warm but not orange tone and the formula has the slightest sheen, which makes it look incredibly dimensional on the skin. It's super pigmented so you really don't need much! I tend to apply it over foundation on my cheekbones and also along the jawline and hairline for natural definition and warmth. The product blends out with very little effort (I swipe it on with my fingers and blend out with a damp sponge).
Jouer Highlighters in Topaz & Tan Lines | £19 each | Jouer is a brand that seems to fly under the radar a lot of the time however I've really liked everything I've tried from them so far. At the top of that list are their highlighters, which have such a lovely formula! They give off a soft, metallic sheen, though the formula is also nice and pigmented, so you really do get an amazing highlight. The consistency is very smooth and doesn't contain obvious glitter. Topaz is the kind of champagne tone that everyone could do with having in their collection and Tan Lines is a warm, sun kissed golden bronze.
Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel | £31 | When I first tried this product, I did think it was kind of overrated - I guess maybe I'd been expecting some sort of life-changing result from it! However a couple of years later I'm now almost finished with my third repurchase of it, so there must be something about this product... I think I've realised over time that the reason this product is popular is because it just does the job and works for most skin types! This isn't something I'd recommend for removing makeup, however it's a perfect morning cleanser. You use it in dry skin and it comes out as a pink gel, with a very mild, pleasant fragrance. Once you've massaged it in, simply rinse it and the formula emulsifies right off, making it a quick and easy option for busy morning. It leaves my skin feeling soft and looking fresh and hydrated with very little effort!
BeautyBlender* | £16 | This is another product it took me a while to really appreciate. Student Me could not see what could possibly be so special about a £16 sponge or why a cheaper alternative couldn't do the job. Adult Me uses this every day and has 4 backups in her drawer... There really is something about the texture and density of this sponge that imitations have never been able to replicate (I know some people love the alternatives in their own right though, so it's a matter of taste too) - it's the flexibility and movement this sponge gives and also the expansion with water. I use this every day and my chosen method is to dampen it and squeeze out any excess water. I use it for foundation and concealer to get that flawless, natural, cake-free finish but also with cream and liquid cheek products (like the Cover FX drops like I mentioned) for a perfect finish in seconds.
Pixi Glow Tonic | £18 | This product is a total classic but I could resist including it in this post anyway! It's the definitive acid exfoliant and is still my personal favourite. It contains Glycolic Acid, an AHA, in a low concentration meaning that it's gentle enough to use regularly (I reach for this every other day) but is also effective. It essentially gently removes dead skin cells so smooths the skin and restores your glow but also over time it really helps to fade any hyper-pigmentation (such as from old blemishes) too and also evens out the tone and texture of the skin. The reason why this is still my favourite is because it contains lots of additional, soothing ingredients that make it far more gentle on the skin that the alternatives.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream* | £44 (240ml) | This is one of those products I'd heard the American YouTubers talking about for ages before it landed on our shores via Cult Beauty! Sol de Janeiro also have a lovely body mist and shower cream, however their signature product is my favourite. This body cream smells absolutely incredible - it's warm, sweet, yummy and summery all at once! It's designed to smooth and firm the skin and is incredibly moisturising without feeling at all greasy on my skin. I know it's going to be an essential for me when summer comes back around!
Niod Copper Amino Isolate* | £38 (15ml) | This product is definitely an investment, but personally when I'm going to spend on skincare I want to spend on something I know is going to give incredible results (like a serum, face mask or treatment) and this product does. On first use you actually have to mix the activator in with the liquid, which creates a bright blue colour - don't worry, though, this has a very fluid texture so it doesn't show on the skin at all. This is essentially a renewing serum so leaves my skin looking better in every single way! Any fine lines appear smoother, my complexion looks nice and even and overall my skin looks fresher and healthier. If I have an event coming up or I'm suffering from a bit of a bad skin day then I reach for this because I know it will leave my skin looking it's absolute best.
Skin Laundry Night Renew Treatment* | £36 | I'm actually almost out of this so you can probably tell, I totally love it! It's essentially a night cream / treatment hybrid - it's a lightweight, moisturising product that leaves the skin soft and hydrated, however what makes it special is that it contains a very tiny amount (0.2%, to be precise) of retinol (Vitamin A), which is pretty much a wonder ingredient. It's one of only a handful of proven topical anti-ageing skincare ingredients and can also work miracles for acne-prone skin. It's best used regularly in very small concentrations which is why this product is great. It has this amazing smoothing effect and really improves the texture and clarity of my skin.
