New in from ColourPop | Haul & Review

I can never resist a new ColourPop launch, and over the past few weeks I've been giving some of their latest products a go. Today I'm going to share my thoughts, show you some swatches and let you know which are worth picking up! (And you can check out the shipping details here.)

Summer Solstice Super Shock Shadow Collection | $18 | I'm a huge fan of this eyeshadow formula; it's a cream but not like the ones you're used to! It's almost a spongy mousse and has such an opaque pigmentation with a long-wearing, crease proof finish. I just couldn't resist this little trio of warm tones! I do find the mattes slightly harder to work with - for the shimmers I tend to just pat them on the lid with my finger or (with darker shades) use an flat brush to line with them - however for the mattes I often want to apply them to the crease or just the outer corner of the eye. The rounded blending brush from the Real Techniques Eye Shade and Blend set works well for me. Noontide is a really interesting shade - a sort of chocolate charcoal colour with neutral undertones that has the softest sheen. Summer Side is a warm rusty brown-red matte that I use in the crease. Lightning Bug is a warm amber gold that is definitely more of an evening colour for me because it does contain glitter. Sundance is my most used from the set - it's a lovely beige with peachy copper undertones and a metallic finish, so can even work as a one-wash colour all over the lid.

Birthday Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in High Five | worth $8 | These limited edition products from the Birthday Bundle were actually free with my order to celebrate 5 years of ColourPop. They aren't available any more however I thought I'd still mention them. The collection is pinky-purple themed, which is outside of my comfort zone but I still thought I'd give the products a go. This highlighter (which also has a spongy cream texture) has a lilac base with a very fine, slightly more plum-toned shimmer running through it. It's a bit cool to use on my cheeks, however because it's so smooth and pigmented, I actually tried it as an eyeshadow instead and it worked just as well as their Super Shock Shadows.

Birthday Super Shock Shadow in Party of Five | worth $5 | It's definitely going to take me some guts to build up to wearing this, however I do think it's really pretty! It again has a purple tone but the blue-toned micro glitter is iridescent, giving it an almost duo chrome finish.

Birthday Super Matte Lip in Take Five | worth $6 | I'm not always a huge fan of this totally matte liquid lipstick formula by ColourPop - although it's long-wearing and has amazing colour payoff, it can be a little bit drying. However this isn't too bad in that sense and the colour is a really gorgeous, rich, warm plummy-pink that will be perfect as we head into autumn.

I Think I Love You Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette | $16 | I definitely didn't need this palette, however I felt like these shades were made for me, so I couldn't resist... Although I'd still say these aren't the longest-wearing eyeshadows in my collection (regardless of which primer you use), I do think the ColourPop powder formula is getting better and better with each iteration. There isn't really a shade in here that disappoints me in terms of colour payoff and how smoothly they blend out. These coppery and bronze tones are just beautiful! I do think this could do with an extra crease colour (maybe a more red-toned brown or even a taupe-brown), however outside of that, I really can't fault the shade selection - it's perfect for a warm, romantic eye look. It's great for the price, I just wish the colours looked as bold and defined as they do at the start of the day for a little bit longer!

Boss Brow Gel in Clear | $6 | This was a bit of a throw-in product for me to get me over the free shipping threshold and because I don't really have a clear brow gel at the moment! It's very affordable and the brush is that perfect size and shape for clean and tidy application. This is definitely a thicker, more white formula - it is totally invisible once it sets down, however I still find myself scraping off a lot of excess product before I go in with this. I can't get too excited about this kind of product, but it does set my brows down so they look more groomed without it feeling like I have a load of stiff product in them.

No Filter Concealer (Golden 40) | $6 | There were actually two shades in this that I'd wanted to pick up (something more brightening for under the eyes and a natural colour for the face), however only one of them was in stock. This is definitely a face colour for me, as opposed to an under-eye brightener, however I wanted to try this formula for both areas. I was really impressed with the range of colours and undertones in this collection, given that there are products several times the price that still can't seem to manage this! On initial application it was so far, so good - I like the applicator and the formula has a high-coverage but nicely smooth and creamy texture (it actually reminded me a lot of Urban Decay's Naked Skin). It blends out to give that flawless look under the eyes that it promises, without being heavy. The issue for me is that as the day goes on, it starts to crease and give a dry, cracked look to the area under my eyes, which is really unflattering! I've tried setting it in different ways, but the issue remains. It's a real shame because this could have been a winner...

Pressed Powder Highlighter Compact in Bae Area | $8 | I've already mentioned this one on my blog, so obviously it's a highlight of this haul for me! I really like how smooth and pigmented this is and it has a metallic finish as opposed to being glittery. I love the soft sheen it gives to the skin and the warm golden-bronze tone is just perfection!

Pressed Powder Highlighter in Velvet Rope | $8 | I really wanted to try something different colour-wise so picked out what looked like a warm rose gold online. However when it showed up it definitely looked kind of just 'pink'. I still decided to give it a go, but the texture is just quite dry and doesn't have much pigment. It's a chore to try and get it to show up on the skin! I was really disappointed, especially considering how great Bae Area is - I don't know what happened here.

Pressed Powder Bronzer Compact in Afternoon Delight | $8 | This is a matte bronzer that's warm but not orange at all and is a good, natural, everyday colour for my skin tone. The formula is fine - it's smooth enough, it's pigmented enough, I just don't find it anything special. It just doesn't give my skin that extra something that my favourites from Becca and Make Up For Ever do. Some may say it's unfair to compare an affordable product to those brands, but I'd argue that ColourPop matches and often betters brands that are several times its price. This isn't something I'd repurchase or particularly recommend - it's just very average.

  4. I love the look of the palette, but what a shame they fade out. Might be one to just wear when I'm not going out for long! xx

  7. I have such a weakness for ColourPop - ironically, their low prices result in me buying EVERYTHING and spending way too much money. They've launched so many new products since my last order, so I may need to make another one soon...

  9. I'm the same with the ColourPop Concealer! You are the first person I've seen to say the same! I've tried it so many ways and it creases so bad plus I noticed it oxidises so bad! I recently did swatches on my blog. So disappointing as I love there products.

  12. I still haven't bought anything from Colour Pop - I'm not crazy about individual eyeshadows so maybe that's what is stopping me plus I read mixed reviews about the palettes xx

  13. I love Colourpop but the shipping charges and custom fees always put me off which is probably best as I don't certainly need anything new ;) x

  14. Shame the concealer isn't up to normal Colourpop standard, I've heard pretty negative things about it overall. Those super shock shadows however are gorgeous! Agreed that the mattes aren't as easy but they still look gorgeous with a bit of work!

  16. I love your haul and everything you pick up so much, I have a real soft spot for Colourpop. The eyeshadow palette shades are beyond gorgeous, and I love the quad you picked up. It's a shame the compact powders weren't all amazing, I've heard mixed reviews but I was always hoping for them to be better than I've heard.
