The Affordable Clear Skin Routine

This is a sponsored post

My combination skin definitely seems to go through phases depending on the time of year, however over the past month or so, it has been decidedly on the shiny and spot-prone side! It was pretty much perfect timing for me to trial the T-Zone Charcoal & Bamboo collection. Every single product from this range costs less than £6 and the ingredients are targeted at drawing impurities out of the skin and getting rid of any shine. Here's how I got on with the products...

Ultra Purifying Face Wash* | £3.25 | I haven't always fared well with gel face washes, as my combination skin needs something that's going to leave it feeling clean and free from oils and impurities but that won't leave it dry and stripped at the same time. I feel like this face wash definitely does that - it foams up but doesn't feel soapy or unpleasant. I've been using this in the morning and I've definitely noticed my skin has been clearing up nicely ever since. It gets the balance perfect between giving a really deep cleanse but not sucking the moisture out of my skin. I'd recommend this whether you have oily skin or you're more on the combination side.

Deep Cleansing Face Scrub | £2.99 | I've often found that face scrubs aimed at spot-prone skin are way too harsh, rough and stripping on my skin, however this cleanser and exfoliator 2-in-1 isn't like that at all. It's a mild cleansing gel that contains natural, gentle exfoliating particles. This helps to de-clog and refine my pores effectively without feeling as though I'm scrubbing my skin right off!

Black Peel-Off Mask* | £4.99 | So many people love these kinds of peel-off masks so I was interested to try this. I have to keep it real; this is my least favourite product from the range. You only really need to spot-apply it to problem areas and, as the instructions suggest, I leave it on for about half an hour to dry down. I do think that's quite a long time for me, so this is more of a 'once a week' product to my mind as opposed to one that I'd use really regularly. I did think it helped the surface shine around my t-zone area, however I just find peel-off masks a bit messy and fussy so there are better products in the range for me that do this job.

Self-Heating Mask* | £4.99 (x4) | This is one of my favourite products from the collection! I like that these come in handy little packets, which also makes them ideal for travel and the amount inside is perfect to cover my face. These are to be used after cleansing whilst your skin is still wet to activate the heat. I love these kinds of self-heating masks - they always feel like a nice little treat for my skin and they really open up the pores so you can wash away dirt and impurities to keep the skin nice and clear. This only needs to be kept on for a minute, after you've massaged it into the skin, making it perfect for busy weekday mornings. I just pop it on and wash it off in the shower. It feels so amazingly invigorating and leaves my skin fresh, incredibly clean and free of any surface oiliness.

Nose Pore Strips* | £3.99 (x6) or £5.99 (x12) | This should be used on clean, still-wet skin also. I wasn't sure how this would work but you just peel off the back and gently press it onto your nose and it sticks in place (I usually cleanse my face after my morning shower and leave this on whilst I brush my teeth and get dressed). After 10 minutes you simply peel it off to remove grease, impurities and dead skin cells. It's definitely quite satisfying to see how much you've managed to get rid off on the strip at the end! I'd really recommend using these if you get oiliness and / or blackheads around your nose.

No Shine Papers* | £2.99 | I've recently got quite into blotting papers to get rid of any shine or greasiness on the surface of my skin. I often use these before makeup and they really help prevent my t-zone from getting shiny during the day in the first place. However sometimes I just throw them in my bag and use them on the go to get rid of the oiliness before powdering on top. They don't smudge or remove my foundation and ensure I stay shine-free for the rest of the day.

Black Cleansing Wipes* | £2.99 | Face wipes aren't something I use regularly however I always have to have a decent packet of them to hand for those nights when it's either that or sleeping in my makeup! Some people love black face wipes because your base makeup shows up well against them, however at the same time it can be difficult to tell from looking at the wipe whether you've got all the dark eye makeup off. Either way, I do find these really effective. I wasn't sure if the ingredients would prevent these from being suitable for removing my eye makeup, however they're really gentle. I find that these remove my makeup without the need to rub or scrub too hard on the skin or eyes. I know that for me, if I don't take my makeup off before bed then I'll wake up almost instantly with a cluster of spots! These not only remove your makeup but help get rid of oils and impurities. You can even use these as a quick refresh in the morning if you need to.
