The Summer Beauty Edit

I can't believe it's once again time to share another seasonal beauty edit. I feel as though in past years my Summer Beauty Edit in particular has been a bit over-crammed! So this year I'm keeping it to my more everyday essentials in this post and you can check out my Holiday Beauty Edit for the rest, though undoubtedly there'll still be a little bit of overlap...

Makeup

Hylamide Matte 12 Primer* | £23 | This has been my go-to since last summer for ensuring my foundation stays in place all day and doesn't descend into a shiny mess... It does a good job of evening out any pores or fine lines to provide a smooth base for makeup. It's not drying and doesn't pill up, like many matte primers I've tried, which makes it a winner for me!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Cushion Stick Foundation (4.1W) | £28 | I was struggling to think of a foundation for summer that I've discovered this year but eventually concluded that this has been the one I've used the most. You just turn the base and the product comes up through the centre of the (removable and washable) cushion. I swipe it directly onto the skin and blend it out with a damp sponge. It has a natural medium coverage that looks healthy and skin-like. It isn't anything overly dewy and lasts pretty well on my skin, making it ideal for a light, fresh everyday summer makeup look.

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Highlighter in Candyman | $8 | This is pretty much my perfect sun-kissed highlighter at the moment! It has a very unusual spongy-cream texture that comes off looking like liquid metal; there's no glitter, just an intense glow. I dab this on with my fingers to give a golden glow to the skin. It's dewy without being shiny and gives a beautiful, warm look.

Becca Mineral Blush in Songbird | £26 | This is such a gorgeous summery blusher, as it's this gorgeous coppery golden orange tone. It has a sheen running through it which is beautiful when it hits the light and the formula is incredibly pigmented and long-wearing. I love to pair this with a reddish-orange tone on the lips.

Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Ipanema Sun | £32 | This is a seriously pigmented but very blend-able bronzer. It looks matte but has the tiniest bit of sheen running through it, which just gives a really natural glow. This is warm without being overly orange and is the perfect colour for my skin tone. It is pricey but I really recommend checking it out.

Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palette in Ablaze | £24 | I can't believe I've not heard more about these palettes; they're sleek, travel-friendly, come in a ton of colour ways and they've very easy to use. What I like about this palette is that the colours work well together and you have pretty much everything you need right in there (there are golds, browns, reds, pinks, mattes, shimmers etc.) The texture is smooth and very pigmented, making it easy to create a warm, summery eyeshadow look. The longevity isn't the best ever, but it's still pretty decent.

ColourPop Blotted Lip in Candyfloss | $5 | This is what I reach for when I want something to brighten up my complexion that's still subtle and everyday-appropriate. It's a warm terracotta orange tone that's kind of matte but also semi-sheer. It's non-drying but still very long-lasting.

Ofra Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Miami Fever | £11 | This has been my go-to lip shade for the evenings in summer. It's a beautiful warm reddish-orange colour and I really like the formula of this. It's very pigmented and vibrant but also non-drying. It lasts really well and is pretty transfer-proof. I use it so much that all the writing has now rubbed off and I'm pretty sure I must be reaching the end of this tube...

Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara | £8.99 | This is the only waterproof mascara that I have the time for. Whilst I still prefer the original, a waterproof formula is a must in the summertime to ensure it doesn't smudge or irritate my eyes. It still gives me length, curl and a nice bit of volume, whilst keeping the separation.

Skincare, Haircare, Body & Everything Else

Ultrasun Sport Gel SPF20 | £14.99 | I've been reaching for this so much lately - it has a lightweight, cooling gel texture that makes it quick and easy to apply. It's refreshing, doesn't clog my pores and doesn't pill up at all, which make it a great everyday product if you need to incorporate sunscreen into your daily routine without the fuss.

Vichy Mineralising Thermal Water Spray* | £7 | Frustratingly, I can't seem to find this mini version online anywhere! However I've linked the full size because it really is a fab product. It can be used in the morning as a refreshing toner after cleansing or to cool down during the day. It's so hydrating and cooling, so you can even spray it on your body when your skin is feeling a bit overheated in the sun.

Mandara Spa Exotic Escape Shower Gel* | £4 | I love that Mandara Spa brings products that look and feel luxurious at a supermarket price-point. The new Exotic Escape collection is so gorgeous and summery. This is an oil-infused moisturising shower gel that smells beautiful. It's milky, spicy, sweet and slightly floral all at the same time. It contains yoghurt, coconut and lotus flower milk which leaves my skin super-soft after use.

Mandara Spa Exotic Escape Body Polish* | £6 | This has a slightly fresher, milkier scent. The formula is creamy and hydrating (with coconut oil) and contains natural exfoliation particles in the form of coconut shell. It gently removes any dead skin cells and leaves my legs nice and smooth.

Mandara Spa Exotic Escape Body Oil* | £7 | I love using a body oil, as it gives my skin the intensive nourishment it needs and this is definitely a saving on my usual one from Nuxe. It smells absolutely beautiful; warm, spicy and sweet all at the same time thanks to the coconut and almond oils it contains. It sinks in really nicely and can also be used in the hair.

Mandara Spa Exotic Escape Body Lotion* | £4 | This is a much lighter option if you don't want a heavy product in the heat. It's a lightweight milky lotion that still hydrates my skin. This has a fresher, less sweet scent which is more like spiced yoghurt and coconuts with a slight sweet almond undertone.

Nuxe Sun Delicious Fragrant Water* | £26 | This is a beautiful mist that can be used as both a perfume and a body spray. It's a light but noticeable scent that is essentially 'summer' bottled. Last year I actually used to mix my Nuxe Prodigieux fragrance with Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess and this is essentially that combination! It's sweet and warm with notes of coconut, vanilla and citrus.

Philip Kingsley Coconut Breeze Elasticizer* | £33 | I think this was pretty much the original pre-shampoo treatment and this year it's available in a new summery scent that reminds me of pina coladas... If you've never used it before; you just dampen your hair, section it out and apply the product to the lengths and ends. You get a little shower cap-type things with it, so you just pop that on and get on with whatever you need to do for about 15 minutes and then go back, rinse it off and shampoo and condition as normal. Obviously it's not the one for rushed workday mornings but I use this around once a week and it's made such a difference to the condition of my hair. I don't know how, but this just works! It's a very lightweight formula that somehow improves the overall quality and texture of my hair immensely! If you have dry, brittle, lacklustre hair then you absolutely have to try this because it's a cult product for a reason.

Barry M Nail Paint in Beachy Keen | £4.99 | This is one of my favourite nail polish formulas; it gives that shiny gel effect and is very opaque and lasts a good few days before the edges begin to chip. This is a gorgeous peachy-beige nude colour with warm undertones that I love because it goes with everything. Annoyingly it's been discontinued but Sunkissed is really similar!

    1. The Ordinary primer is really nice too - it has a more creamy texture and isn't matte but does really have that 'stick' to keep makeup in place for hours! xx
