The Everyday Makeup Edit #6

This month's everyday makeup roundup has some really amazing new products that I've been reaching for recently, as well as a handful of rediscoveries, so whilst one or two of these bits are always in the mix, I have a lot of other things to show you!

Base

I start by priming my skin using The Ordinary's Fluid High-Spreadability Primer* | £5.50. I'm actually almost out of this stuff but at a fiver a go, I really can't complain. This has a dropper, which I don't think is the best way to dispense the product (it's tricky to get that last bit out), but once it's on the skin, it's clear in colour, doesn't pill up and leaves the surface so smooth. It even does a good job of making pores less visible and ensures my foundation goes on evenly and lasts well throughout the day. I quite often actually mix this in with the Marc Jacobs Coconut Dew Drops Gel Highlighter* | £32 | for some added luminosity. This liquid highlighter is an absolutely gorgeous light oyster gold shade, so gives a natural dewy glow to the skin. Before I put on my foundation, as usual, I pop on a bit of my Bobbi Brown Corrector (Peach) | £19.50 | review | to mask my dark circles.

I've had two foundations on the go recently and I quite often also use them in conjunction: the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte (106 Sun Beige) | £13.95 | review | and the Clinique Chubby in the Nude Stick Foundation (Grandest Golden Neutral) | £24 | review. The Clinique is a lovely, everyday natural finish foundation that provides a medium coverage and makes my skin look glowing without being greasy. However the longevity isn't great, so I often put a bit of the L'Oreal on my problem areas (the t-zone for me) just to add that back in. I use the L'Oreal for long days or evening wear; it gives an incredibly long-lasting matte finish without being dry or flat. The coverage is medium to full, which I don't think is too much for day-to-day wear. I never used to be one to use my BeautyBlender* | £16 | for foundation but I'm loving using it slightly damp for my entire base. It just ensures everything looks natural and seamless without taking away any of the coverage.

In terms of concealer, I'm still loving my Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Ginger) | £23. It just has such a nice, natural coverage and never looks heavy or caky. It is billed as matte but the texture isn't drying. It also doesn't crease under my eyes and can be applied quickly and easily with a few dabs of my finger. After I've finished my eye makeup, just to tidy things up and brighten under my eyes a little further, I use the Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Eye Concealer (Nude) | £8.99. It has such a light, fluffy texture and needs minimal blending (again I use a damp BeautyBlender for this) but really makes me look more awake! This one does crease a little, so I set under the eyes with my rediscovered Ben Nye Luxury Dome Jar Powder in Banana* | £10.80. You honestly only need the tiniest amount of this on a powder brush to set under the eyes and ensure your concealer lasts all day.

Cheeks

My current highlighter of the moment isn't  actually a highlighter, it's the Too Faced Snow Bunny Bronzer | £25. In my opinion, you'd have to be very fair and like the shimmery look for this to be bronzer! I personally love its warm golden tone on the tops of my cheekbones in particular; I like to swirl all of the shades together for a natural glow. On the cheeks I've been reaching for Brilliant Nude from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Strobe Blush Palette | £59 | review. It's a warm pinky-brown nude colour with a luminous finish. I find the formula very smooth and even to apply with minimal effort and it wears nicely on my skin. In terms of bronzer, I've rediscovered last year's favourite, which was the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Bronzed | £22. It's a warm-toned bronzer but still doesn't look orange. It has a matte powder formula but applies nicely and evenly on my skin in just a few seconds. I still prefer my Make Up For Ever, but this is great for a really sun-kissed look.

Eyes

Of course I start with my Urban Decay Primer Potion (Original) | £17 | review | but I have something new in terms of a cream shadow base in the form of MAC's Peintures Paint in Bamboom | £16! This is a cream eyeshadow that comes in a tube - it has such a smooth formula that it glides onto the lids, though once it dries down it's pretty budge-proof. The colour is a warm pinky-brown taupe colour with a very, very slight sheen. It evens out the tone of my eyelids, ensuring the powders applied over it really show true to colour.

For eyeshadow I've been reaching for this custom quad (the palette itself is from Anastasia Beverly Hills but holds a number of different brands). In the inner corner I've been using the Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pan in Shimma Shimma | £4.95 | which is a light, champagne-cream shimmer that really adds an amazing highlight. Then, all over the lid I opt for MAC's Eyeshadow Pan in Woodwinked | £10. This is an old favourite of mine and is a warm golden-bronze antiqued shimmer that works amazingly well with just about any warm eyeshadow look. Finally I use two of the Anastasia Eyeshadow Singles in Red Earth & Cognac | £10 each. Red Earth is a shade I like to use in the crease because it's a warm pinky-brown matte. Cognac is a deep brown-red shade with a subtle shimmer that looks amazing on the outer corner of the eyelid.

There are actually a few new bits in the mix when it comes to eyeliner for once! I've been using the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Stingray* | £14.50 | to tight-line  with and it is amazing! I've never tried a black stick liner that's so pigmented and opaque but doesn't smudge or transfer at all. I also love that you don't need to sharpen it because the product just twists right up. For my winged liner, of course it's been my trusted Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black | £14.50 | review. Then I finish by using my rediscovered Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Scorch | £15.50 | on the lower lash line. This is a golden-bronze shimmer that's very creamy and pigmented but incredibly long-lasting.

There's also been a new addition on the mascara front, in the form of Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Volume* | £22. Whilst I don't think this is my new all-time favourite, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Although it has a fibre wand, it still separates and lengthens my lashes, whilst making them look completely black and voluminous. As well as being into the finished effect of this, I also like that it doesn't flake off or smudge during my day.

For brows, I've been using a combination of products to get the look that I want. I start by shaping and sculpting using the NYX Micro Brow Pencil (Espresso) | £8. This is an amazing Anastasia Brow Wiz dupe and creates the perfect, natural everyday look. The tip is so fine and you don't have to worry about sharpening it. You can draw on each hair individually, as the pigmentation and tone means this creates a nice, soft look. There's also a spooly on the other end to brush out your brows with. I then set it with my Glossier Boy Brow (Brown) | $16 | UK Shipping. I'm fast running out of this and nothing else really seems to compare, so I think I need to do another Glossier order... It has the tiniest wand coated in a tinted brow gel that adds volume without being thick or clumpy. It also gives some colour to the brows and holds them in place in a very natural way.

Lips

This month's more natural option is the Tom Ford Lip Colour Shine in Nubile | £38. Despite being a more glossy formula, it's surprisingly opaque. It has a creamy, comfortable feel on the lips and the colour is a sort of warm pinky-brown nude. I actually think the longevity is pretty good for this kind of a product too. When I want something more matte, I've been reaching for the HudaBeauty Liquid Matte in Girlfriend | £18. This is a very fluid but extremely pigmented liquid lipstick. It sets down to give that true, completely matte finish that's not overly drying but seriously lasts hours! The colour is a mid-toned sandy beige nude.

  10. I really like how detailed you are when you talk about the products you use :) The Ordinary Primer sounds great, and the quad of eyeshadows that you use is really pretty, that's the type of colours I would reach for very often too. This month I've been using my Naked 3 Palette a lot, to create subtle nude/pink shimmery looks. It's a classic I always come back to!
