My Week in Lipsticks #3

The past week has been hectic to say the least. It's funny because although I came up with this concept and it really seems to have spread, I haven't done one of these posts myself in ages! I guess it's because I only tend to do it when I've not just had my standard, boring week at work that probably no one cares about... But this Easter weekend has been my first chance in a long while to actually do a spontaneous blog post so I thought I'd bring back this beauty and lifestyle format.

Monday
Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Leo | $18
Admittedly, as far as Mondays go, this one was pretty chipper! Probably because I only had a two-day working week... After the madness of the end of the financial year, things have finally calmed down at work and my team went for a long lunch and a few drinks to celebrate the result we achieved. Leo is one of those perfect workday lip shades - the formula is described as 'sheer matte', which is pretty accurate. It gives an almost stain-like effect, meaning that when it fades after a few cups of coffee or after lunch, you aren't left with that awkward 'lip liner' look. It's also a very natural brown nude, which is the kind of shade you really can't go wrong with.

Tuesday
Urban Decay Comfort Matte Lipstick in Carnal | £15.50
It was another day at the office but my last one before my little break! We had a really great networking event with some of our customers at lunch time over food and a few drinks, which was really great for me because I'm new to my role so really need to get out and build relationships with as many people as possible. Carnal is one of my favourite lipsticks; weekday, weekend, day or night, it just always seems to do the job! It's a warm brown-toned nude that's not too bold but is still rich enough in colour to be noticeable. I love this formula, as it's creamy and pigmented but still has a completely matte finish despite not drying out my lips. It also wears incredibly well, which is essential because I'm definitely the kind of person who ends up so busy that I blink and two hours have passed, so obviously touching up my lipstick is the last thing on my mind!

Wednesday
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal | £20
After running a few errands in the morning, it was time to head to the airport for a few days in Amsterdam! I will definitely do a proper post on my trip but in the meantime you can check out my Instagram. As we'd be heading out for dinner pretty much as soon as we'd all arrived and I wanted something hydrating on my lips, I opted for my trusty Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment which is tinted with a warm rosy-nude colour. It's just so effortless and adds a wash of colour whilst being super-nourishing. After a few delays and annoyances (travel-wise) along the way - the girls were together and we had a nice dinner in Amesterdam before crashing out!

Thursday
Ofra Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Miami Fever | £11
After a full day out in Amsterdam to see the canals, visit museums and experience what the city has to offer, we headed back to the Hague for the evening, where a friend of mine lives. We had an amazing dinner and went out for a few drinks, which turned into going to a club! I think Miami Fever has become my default 'night out' lipstick; I don't suit traditional reds so the warmer, more orange tone of this works so much better for my skin tone. It's comfortable and not too drying but also incredibly long-wearing for when you're eating and drinking.

Friday
ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park | $6
I knew the trip would fly by and of course it did! For our last day we decided to stay in the Hague. We had a bit of a wander, visited a museum and had a really great lunch before heading back to the airport in Amsterdam to catch our flights home. Admittedly it was one of those days when I put on my lipstick in the morning and I was so busy it didn't get touched-up once! However I love this shade; it gives the look of a matte lipstick, is completely opaque in colour and incredibly long-lasting. However it's also comfortable and doesn't cling to any dry patches on my lips. The shade itself is a gorgeous everyday peachy-brown nude.

Saturday
Lancome Juicy Shaker in Vanilla Pop | £19.50
After getting a few jobs done in the morning, I headed over to my grandparents' house for Easter. Myself and my mum grabbed some food at Pizza Express before I finally got to see Beauty and the Beast, which of course I really enjoyed! It was a pretty chilled, laid back day so I threw on my fail-safe Lancome Juicy Shaker, which is almost like a bio-phase lip oil. You just dab it on for instant hydration and to get a glossy look to lips. The colour itself is a red-toned berry colour.

Sunday
ColourPop Matte Lippie Stick in RAYEzor (discontinued) | $5
For Easter Sunday we had a family meal at my grandparents' house with most of us there. It was quite a relaxed day and it was really nice to see everyone there. I headed back home to Birmingham in the evening ahead of a massive revision session on Easter Monday for my upcoming exam. Oh joy... Sadly the lipstick I wore has been discontinued. Although it's matte, it does have a creamy formula and slight sheen, plus it feels comfortable on the lips. It's a perfect peachy-brown nude colour that works as a Spring shade on my skin tone.

What did you get up to over Easter and which lipsticks came along for the ride?

  2. I really like this kind of post! Lifestyle posts are always an interesting read - maybe because I'm nosey haha. Amsterdam must have been great, little city breaks are a good way to relax and do something different once in a while. The Ofra lipstick is gorgeous, although it would probably not suit my skin tone at all. I love Carnal as well, that's a type of shade I don't have but would love to get for a more browny nude look!

  7. I barely did wear any lipsticks over Easter, days with the kids at home call for minimal and quick makeup, so I usually skip color and opt for a clear lip balm instead.

  25. Carnal is a beauty! RAYEzor too. ColourPop's collaborations always have the most beautiful shades. Creature from their collection with FeralCreature was such a lovely shade too.

I would have expected more pigment from the Glossier but I suppose it does exactly what it says it does! I cannot wait for their UK launch! Those Cloud Paints will be mine!

Anything that leaves a stain I'm so down for. I've found the Fresh lip treatments are the best for hydration and a lasting stain.

    And the scent!

(Too many exclamation marks from me today, I'm sorry)

  26. Love the fact that that Glossier lipstick doesn't give you the manky lip liner look haha! I love the sound of that Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, that's such good product to have in your collection, I like that it has a little tint to it too. Echo park is such a beautiful colour
