A Skincare Update | New Additions to my Routine #2

Looking at how many products are in this post; you can probably see why it's taken a while to test out all the new products on my shelf recently! There are some products that are just new to me, as well as a couple of exciting new releases.

Moisturisers, Serums & Eye Creams

Elemental Herbology Cell Nourish Serum* | £45 | This is a really nice lightweight serum; my only issue is the packaging; I just don't feel the dropper works for the consistency of the formula. It has quite a watery texture so absorbs easily into my skin and doesn't leave too much of a tackiness either. It does have a slight fragrance but doesn't irritate my skin, in fact I actually find it quite soothing. It leaves my skin soft and looking healthy and radiant, so is perfect for this time of year.
Ingredients include: aloe, rose damask and green tea

Elemental Herbology Cell Plumping Moisturiser* | £44 | This is definitely a winter moisturiser to me; it's light enough for me to wear during the day but is still nourishing. It gives that instant relief from dryness and when I apply my makeup over it, it goes on very smoothly without clinging to dry patches. It isn't smothering or greasy, so if you want hydration that's nothing too excessive then definitely give it a go.
Ingredients include: royal jelly, evening primrose oil and omega 3

Kiehl's Breakout Control Blemish Treatment Lotion* | £38 | I honestly can't rate this moisturiser enough! I actually suffered from some hormonal breakouts (extremely painful cystic spots, which I never usually get) a few weeks ago and though I found the cause and cut it out of my diet, my skin was quite slow to recover. I feel like this moisturiser was one of the products that really helped clear things up completely towards the end. It has such a nice texture in that it's still moisturising, despite containing amazing anti-blemish ingredients (which can sometimes leave your skin a little dried out). My skin is calm, soft, smooth and much clearer when I use this so it's a definitely a 'recommend' from me.
Ingredients include: salicylic acid, vitamin B3 and aloe vera

Philosophy Take a Deep Break Oil-Free Oxygenating Gel Cream* | £29.50 | I've been asked quite a few time which moisturiser I'd recommend for young skin and this is one that would be fantastic. It's a cream-gel formula, meaning it is very hydrating without being heavy or breaking you out (due to it also being oil-free). It's fast-absorbing but still gives my skin the moisture it needs and makes it look healthy and plump. It also gives a nice boost of radiance.
Ingredients include: arabica coffee bean extract, bitter orange peel extract and green tea extract

Philosophy Take a Deep Break Oil-Free Oxygenating Eye Gel Cream* | £24 | This is the eye cream that goes with the moisturiser. I'd say it's a little bit richer than the face version, however it's still fast-absorbing and I feel like around the eyes needs that extra bit of nourishment. It definitely stops my under-eye concealer looking caky or dry and goes a long way to helping get rid of any puffiness and giving that cooling effect in the morning.
Ingredients include: arabica coffee bean extract, bitter orange peel extract and caffeine

Masks, Cleansers & Treatments

Elemental Herbology Bio-Cellular Super Cleanse* | £26 | This is such a nice cream/milk cleanser; it's quite hard to describe the texture but it pretty much melts into the skin and feels so nice and luxurious. It isn't at all oil-based but still feels incredibly nourishing. It makes my skin soft, moisturised, healthy and radiant without leaving behind any excess. It breaks down easily with water so is a great quick and easy option for those busy weekday mornings.
Ingredients include: malic acid, vitamin C and rosehip

Caudalie Moisturising Mask* | £22 | This is a face mask but has the texture of a creamy moisturiser. I leave it on for around 10-15 minutes, during which time it almost completely absorbs into my skin, so the excess I have to rinse off is minimal. It doesn't feel oily or rich but still gives my skin lasting moisture and just leaves it looking healthier and feeling softer. It's also very soothing on any redness or sensitivity. The overall texture and quality of my skin is much nicer after using this and it's perfect for when I'm looking a bit tired!
Ingredients include: grape seed oil and vinolevure

Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil* | £26 | I was pleasantly surprised by the price-point of this; especially given that it seems like there's a lot of product in here! I'd expect to see a price of up to £45 for an oil from a brand like Caudalie, in all honesty. This has a nice, lightweight texture that doesn't feel like anything too greasy; in fact I'd still recommend this if you have combination (or even oil-prone skin) that can be a bit dull or dehydrated in the winter. It's also not too heavy to use every night if you want to and it hasn't broken me out when I've done that. If you have very dry skin or maybe don't wear makeup every day then it's also a good option for daytime wear. It just makes my skin so soft and feel so nourished. It also has a nice plumping effect, if you find you get dehydration lines that have been exacerbated by the cold weather.
Ingredients include: grape seed oil, jojoba seed oil and rosemary leaf extract

Kiehl's Breakout Control Targeted Blemish Spot Treatment* | £24 | This is a targeted spot treatment with a cream-paste texture. Personally I tend to use this overnight but it can work under makeup too if you give it some time to settle before priming or putting on foundation. I just apply it over any spots and it helps dry them out so they're sore and obvious. Over time I do feel this has helped the spots fade more quickly. I haven't noticed as much scarring or hyper-pigmentation from the breakouts I've had since I started using this either. I definitely want to carry on testing this to ensure it wasn't a fluke but the signs are good so far!
Ingredients include: mineral sulfur, vitamin B3 and glycolic acid

Hylamide Glow Booster | £20 | There's definitely some sort of science-y explanation behind this product but all I know is: it works! It's got a very liquid-like consistency so you can easily use this as a serum. It essentially gives the skin a radiant glow and contains a natural tanning agent derived from raspberries. If your skin is looking dull and sun-deprived then this is the perfect solution to perk things up a bit. Just ensure you wash your hands afterwards as I've heard some people say it can tan them a bit!
Ingredients include: raspberry keto-sugar, melanin hexapeptides and glycoprotein

Body Products

Lanolips Lanolin Everywhere Cream* | £10.99 | This is such a good product and truly is multi-purpose. I don't use it on the face too often but it's handy for if you're travelling; it has a moisturising but non-greasy texture which makes it a fuss-free option for a day or night cream. It's also great for the body because there's no slippery excess but it still relieves my dry skin. I just wish it came in a larger tube! I feel like if I used this on my body every single day then it would run out really quickly. However it's also a great hand cream, keeping everything hydrated (even in-between my fingers, which always dries out so easily!) without feeling greasy in the slightest.
Ingredients include: lanolin, vitamin E and milk

Lanolips 101 Ointment* | £10.99 | This is a fairly-soild ointment (so I feel it would be easier to use if it was in a pot instead of a tube) that melts right down to more of an oil texture. You can use this on any dry patches, like on the nose, but I personally like it best to put on my lips overnight. It's absolutely amazing for getting rid of dry, chapped lips and leaves them so soft and nourished by morning. It also has other uses like for dry cuticles or cracked heels (for the latter, I feel like I'd want a larger tube of this to apply it regularly). A little does go a long way though and for winter time, a product like this really helps smooth and soften any dry patches.
Ingredients include: 100% pure lanolin

  17. I'm going to have to check out that Caudalie oil. That is not a bad price for a high end face oil. I've wanted to try Lanolin for so long. I think Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream is similar and I love that!

  19. I need to check out the Hylamide Glow Booster serum, it sounds like something that my skin could use. My skin went through a phase where I have deep cystic spots on my forehead that refuses to go away recently too and I'm still trying to figure out why. I have my suspicion but I need to do more to confirm it.
