A Skincare Update | New Additions to my Routine

As we move into Autumn I’ve updated my skincare a little and there have been a few new products I’ve been trialling that have found their place in my routine. Today I thought I’d give you the lowdown on all the new additions.

Dr Botanicals Advanced Purifying Overnight Masque* | £39.99 | When I first applied this product I thought it would ‘just’ be a really hydrating night cream, however I was totally wrong because this is a product I see incredible results with. It has a lightweight cream texture and you only need a tiny amount. It does sink into the skin, though has a slight tackiness that remains. It feels nice and hydrating but has a very light, almost lotion-like formula that doesn’t smother my skin or break me out. It’s intensely nourishing, leaving my skin soft and hydrated, plus it irons out any annoying dehydration fine lines. However it also just makes my skin look so glowing! I was honestly really impressed with the difference this product makes and looking at the ingredients list, I noticed it contains Papaya which is also in some of my other favourite products for giving me healthy, radiant skin.
Ingredients include: Papaya, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin C

Roger and Gallet Aura Mirabilis Double-Extract* | £40 | I must admit I was a little dubious when Roger and Gallet released a product at such a premium price-point. However this stuff is incredible! It's essentially a serum-oil to use on your skin overnight and you don't need more than a couple of drops to see the effects. What I would say about this (my only negative) is that it doesn't really 'absorb' into the skin; it tends to just leave a very slight tackiness on the surface. If I apply this half an hour before bed as I begin my reading and winding down routine, it's more or less sunk in by the time I go to sleep but it's still slightly annoying if you, like me, tend to burrow under the covers at night! It does seem like a small price to pay for an amazing product though; this just seems to make my skin look better in every single way. I was a little concerned it might break me out when I first applied it, however it doesn't at all. This is the kind of product I know I can reach for to ensure my skin looks its best, for example the night before a big event. My skin is combination but it does have a tendency to look dull because it gets dehydrated. I get some fine lines that can go from being virtually invisible (on a good skin day) to distractingly obvious (when I'm really dehydrated) and this smooths them out like no other product I've tried! Usually just using a nice, hydrating skincare product will make them less visible, however this virtually erases them. My skin looks and feels amazingly hydrated, soft, refreshed and glowing after use. This with the Dr Botanicals overnight treatment is just perfect skin guaranteed!
Ingredients include: Sandalwood, Neroli, Bitter Orange, Lemongrass

Roger and Gallet Aura Mirabilis Extra-Fine Cleansing Masque* | £15 | This is a product that can be used in two ways; you can use it to remove your makeup or as a face mask. It has a gel texture and contains the same essential oils as the Double-Extract. As a makeup remover, I was pleasantly surprised with how this performed. Based on the ingredients I thought it might be a bit harsh on my eyes, which are pretty sensitive. However it really wasn't! I was impressed at how gentle and effective it was at removing my makeup. It also leaves my skin feeling soft and looking refreshed after use. It doesn't actually tell you on the packaging how long to leave it on for if you want to do a face mask, however I went with my fail-safe 10 minutes. This is a really great quick fix; though it's not as concentrated as the Double-Extract so doesn't pack quite the same punch, it gives my skin a quick perk-up. It's a great one to reach for if you need your skin to look a little more awake as soon as possible. It gives me the glow, the hydration and the smoothing effect, though it's just not quite as dramatic as with the Double-Extract. However it's also a great option if you don't like putting oil-based products on your skin.
Ingredients include: Helianthus Flower Oil, Sandalwood, Neroli, Bitter Orange, Lemongrass

Odacite #MySkincareCocktail: Synergie[4] Immediate Skin Perfecting Beauty Masque, GreenTea Lemongrass Serum Concentrate & Jojoba Lavender Serum Concentrate* | £25-£47 | I actually have a post coming on how you can create your own customised skincare routine, however I still wanted to mention it today because I’ve just been loving using the products recently. In this little set I have the mask as well as two serums which are 100% made of the oils in their names. I will talk a little more about choosing the right combination for your skin in my post on this but the idea is that the mask will work for all skin types and then you choose two of the serums to target your skincare concerns which you can mix in with the mask and also use on their own.

The mask is dry mask that you mix yourself; it can be a little bit messy so for me this is a Sunday night thing when I have time to dedicate to relaxation. The packaging does suggest quantities but I generally measure the powder-to-water ratio by eye and it works for me. It’s a clay mask but actually has quite a lightweight texture and doesn’t dry out my skin. I use it on its own or, if my skin is feeling in need of an extra boost, I’ll use one of the oils too. The mask in itself is an amazing cleansing, brightening mask that leaves my skin looking fresh and radiant, as well as helping keep my complexion clear of  blemishes.

I like the use the serums as overnight treatments as well as mixed in with the mask. I find the Green Tea and Lemongrass amazing when my skin is looking dull and lacklustre. It’s just great for making tired skin look healthy, hydrated and glowing. The Jojoba and Lavender is great when my skin is a little bit spotty and my pores are very noticeable. It helps keep my skin clear and prevents those under-the-skin spots, also tightening up my pores a little. They both smell amazing too; I find the Jojoba and Lavender in particular to be a really relaxing scent that makes it amazing for before bed.
Mask Ingredients include: Enzyme & Fruit Acids, Charcoal, Clay, Vitamin C

Niod Flavanone Mud Mask* | £29 | I know I’ve mentioned this a few times but it’s really become a staple in my skincare routine. It’s another clay mask that has a very light texture. It’s quite an intensive treatment (and does have a strong scent) so I use it once a week at most, however you can’t argue with the results it gives! It’s one of those really great all-in-one products for when your skin seems to be looking a bit rubbish in general! It’s cleansing, makes the skin look radiant and helps to clear up any breakouts. It leaves my skin feeling so clean without stripping it at all. As a side-note: I'm very happy that this is now available from QVC as a super-sized version with double the product for just £10 more in a much more practical tube!
Ingredients include: Kaolin Clay, Black Mud, Citrus Peel, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Rice, Ginseng

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask | £15 | This is a really nice scrub mask; it doesn't have instructions on the pot but I massage it in like a face scrub and then just leave a layer of it on my skin for 10 minutes before rinsing. It's really invigorating but not in that mildly painful way that most products are; it just feels intensely refreshing. Because of the ingredients, the exfoliating bits are all natural products as opposed to scrub particles, which I really like because it means it does the job whilst still working for more sensitive skin. My skin looks refreshed, radiant and just better all-round after using this mask so it gets a big thumbs up from me.
Ingredients include: Kaolin Clay, Sesame Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Rice, Ginseng

Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil* | £18 | It’s been quite a gradual thing but I’ve slowly found myself reaching for this over other makeup-removers like my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm! It’s just so quick and easy to apply and has a really nice, light texture that requires no work. It’s incredibly effective at removing my makeup despite not being at all heavy or greasy. It also doesn’t sting my eyes, which is a big thing for me!
Ingredients include: Sunflower Seed Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Grape Seed Oil

Want The Facial Spritzer* | £13 | This is another product that’s slowly crept into being one of my most-reached-for items at the moment. It’s just a really great all-rounder that’s hydrating as well as invigorating on my skin. It’s a nice, fine mist that feels as lightweight as water. It smells amazing and has been my go-to in place of a toner.
Ingredients include: Aloe Vera, Orange, Grape, Lavender

Avene Triacneal Expert | £23 | I picked this up over in Paris and though there’s a haul coming, I still wanted to talk about it here because I’ve been using this almost every night since I got it. This is essentially a night cream gentle enough for daily used but one that's packed full of amazing ingredients. It has an unusual slightly orange colour but otherwise has a normal cream texture and comes in handy pump packaging. It's incredible if your skin is prone to blemishes and resultant scarring, as well as preventing premature ageing. I love how clear my skin looks and I really do think this has helped fade old blemish marks and keeps my skin looking smooth. I feel like my skin looks healthier and my pores aren't as clogged and visible since I started using this.
Ingredients include: Avene Thermal Spring Water, Caprylic/Capric Tiglyceride

Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum* | £17 | Over the past 6 weeks I’ve been using this serum every single day! It’s very similar to the one from Vichy that I’d been using up until that point however is cheaper for the same quantity of product and is really kind to sensitive skin. It isn’t just going to not make your skin flare up when it’s sensitive, but it is actually really calming and smoothing. It has a lightweight water-based formula that absorbs into my skin within a minute or two without leaving behind a residue. It’s so hydrating and leaves my skin feeling super-soft with any dry patches taken care of. Overall I love this serum and can see it becoming my #1.
Ingredients include: Avene Thermal Spring Water, Glycerin

Vivderma Comforting Cleansing Gellee* | £32 | This is a product I really don’t hear much about, however when it came to carefully-selecting which cleansers to bring with me when I moved house (I’m sharing a bathroom with someone so really didn’t want to be inconsiderate and take up more than my fair share of shelf space!) I just couldn’t leave this behind, which says a lot. This is more of a ‘treat myself’ cleanser, so I don’t use it every single day when I’m often in a rush and just want to get my makeup off ASAP. However when I want to relax and take my time I find the honey-like texture of this product feels incredible on my skin as well as smelling beautiful. It’s amazing at removing my makeup and despite having a scent is very gentle. It’s just one of those great pamper-time products.
Ingredients include: Rose, Neroli, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Argain Oil

Vichy Double Glow Peel Mask* | £14 | This is part of a new face mask range from Vichy and is definitely what I’d recommend if you’re after an affordable glycolic acid mask. It’s also amazing if you have more sensitive skin because it is effective without feeling too intense. It has a very fluffy gel-like texture, which isn’t something I’ve seen in this kind of mask before. As well as the chemical exfoliation it gives, it also contains some very fine exfoliating particles that aren’t too harsh on my skin. I just massage as I remove the mask and it gives it that extra manual exfoliation. I was really impressed with the results, especially given how gentle it is. I’d say my skin was as glowing as it is when I use my beloved REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask, which is double the price of this and definitely feels a lot more tingly on my skin. My skin is also smoother and my pores look a bit less visible after using this. Although it doesn't come with application instructions (there seems to be a theme here...), I find leaving it on for 10 minutes works for me. If you have more sensitive skin and/or don’t want to spend £30 on a face mask then you should definitely check this out because it went above and beyond my expectations.
Ingredients include: Fruit Alpha-Hydroxy Acids, Volcanic Rock

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist | £18 | I can see this being an everyday favourite when the colder weather sets in because it just gives an amazing moisture boost. It isn't really a refreshing spritz like the Want mist; it's a little heavier but really leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished.

Ingredients include: Glycerin, Citric Acid, Castor Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Black Oat

Pixi Nourishing Sleep Mask | £18 | Every other night I've been using this overnight mask. Although it's billed as a mask, if you have dry skin I can definitely just see this being your everyday night cream because it isn't anything too heavy on the skin at all. It doesn't break me out but does give amazing nourishment to my skin despite the lightweight texture. I always reach for this when my skin is looking a bit tired and dehydrated and it instantly perks things up. I love how soft it leaves my skin and I also see noticeably fewer fine lines when I wake up in the morning after using this. Again, I can see myself using this more and more as we head towards Winter.
Ingredients include: Jojoba Seed Oil, Lavender Oil, Lemon Peel Oil, Bergamot Fruit Oil
