Cult Haircare on Trial

Last month I was ridiculously lucky and received a huge box of haircare goodies from France-based Kalista Haircare, an online beauty site that ships for free to most of the EU and offers lots of discount codes. I've been testing these cult haircare products for around 6 weeks and I'm ready to come back with my verdict.

Shampoo

Philip B White Truffle Shampoo* | €57.50

This is one of those products I've wanted to try for just so long but couldn't bear to part with £50 for and unfortunately there's not a smaller size available. I'm very sorry to say that this is absolutely amazing! If you would never spend so much on a shampoo then nothing is really going to convince you, however if you're like me and would for an amazing product (if armed with a good discount code) then definitely try it. I almost went in wanting not to like this so I could say it really wasn't worth the money but I can't deny I've fallen for it! It has this gorgeous scent and even the formula looks luxurious. It has a fairly runny formula and doesn't foam up excessively. My hair honestly hasn't looked better than since I started using this. It looks so much more shiny and healthy and just better in every way. I've really struggled with having dry hair that gets damaged very easily. It contains 19 herbal extracts, Italian White Truffle and Vitamin B5. I will decide for sure whether I'd buy this again based on how long this lasts me. You do only need a small amount so I have high hopes! It's like the Emma Hardie cleanser all over again; I've tried a really expensive product, loved it and committed myself to repurchasing it forever and bankrupting myself in the process...

Kerastaste Bain Nutri-Thermique Shampoo* | €17.40

As I've mentioned, I have quite dry hair and shampooing is a bit of a 'stripping' process on the hair. This is the perfect blend of being a little bit foaming and leaving my hair feeling nice as clean whilst being nourishing enough for the lengths. Although I don't want my hair to feel heavy (because I do sometimes get product build-up and oily roots), I don't want shampooing to suck all the moisture out of my hair. This is a really great solution as I find it nourishing for a shampoo and leaves my hair looking nice and healthy. It doesn't work the miracles for me that the Philip B does but it's a fraction of the price. I definitely want to try more products from this range now.

Conditioning Treatments

Kerastase UV Defensive Active Masque* | €34.30

This is a bit of a weird problem in life but whatever: I find my hair is very prone to bleaching in the sun. Although I've coloured my hair in the past and there may still be a little of it in the ends, I actually haven't in years but my hair can often get these orange-toned blonde streaks! Although I've seen some sun this year, I will have to update you on if this can still withstand the rays when I go to Spain, however so far so good. It doesn't have much in the way of instructions but I apply it to my lengths and ends then leave it for 5 minutes before rinsing. It has a really interesting jelly-like texture and is orange in colour. I really noticed my hair looked healthier when I used this product. It can look a little dry and straw-like but this gives it some much-needed life without being heavy at all. It doesn't weigh down my hair or make it greasy, so I'll let you know if it keeps it in good condition when I'm on holiday.

Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair* | €32

This is a product I'd heard so much about and had actually been meaning to pick up for so long. As I've mentioned, although I do have damaged hair, I really love products that are going to nourish it without that weighed down, sticky feeling. You really don't need much product at all and it has a really light texture. After washing, shampooing and conditioning my hair, I towel dry it and run some of this through the roots and ends. I blow dry my hair as normal and this gives my skin that healthy look without feeling like my hair is full of product. I don't know how it does it but it really works and is pretty much exactly what I look for in a repairing treatment for my hair. I will definitely be repurchasing this once it runs out (though that could be a while with how little you need for results!)

Styling Products

Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder* | £29.50

Recently I've noticed my scalp really isn't liking my usual dry shampoo, so it was the perfect time to give the much-hyped Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder a go. It has such a light, fine texture that it takes minimal work for this to disappear. I shake it directly into my roots and work it in for instant lift and volume. What I like about this is that it's a product that doesn't give a crunchy feel but also doesn't make my hair flop back down to being how it was before within 10 minutes. Although I do use it more as a volumising product, it does also absorb any excess oiliness.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray* | €28

This is such a talked-about product and personally I'd never tried it before because I imagined it to be a bit crunchy and drying. However now I've given it a go, it isn't like that at all. It does have a little bit of hold to it but nothing over-the-top. I don't spray it too liberally but in just a few spritzes and a little bit of scrunching, it really does give those effortless beachy waves. It's totally perfect if you've just rolled out of bed, realised you overslept and want the messy look to seem intentional! Overall, I could probably live without it but I'm really enjoying using this and I already caught my boyfriend eyeing it up too...

Overall my favourite products I plan on repurchasing are the Aveda Damage Remedy, Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder and (cautiously) the Philip B White Truffle. They're all lovely though so I definitely recommend checking out the website! You can get 20% off with the code: JASMINE20 too.

  8. I am considered "very lucky" in the hair department, I ignore my hair, don't wash it for days, straighten it, barely use any product on it other than a can of dry shampoo, oh and I only buy shampoo if its on offer, so it changes all the time lol. So to me I don't spend more than £5 on shampoo AND conditioner... and somehow my hair is still in excellent condition, its thick and long. LUCKY.

But I must admit I would love to try some of the bumble and bumble shampoos, they look so nice! Love the post, even if I did choke on the price of a few, hopefully loving them won't bankrupt you!

    1. Haha lucky you - my hair is so delicate/fragile :( I don't often change my haircare routine but mainly because I worry that I'll spend £30 on something that does nothing to me, so it's been great to be introduced to something new that works for me! xx
