March Favourites

I'm in full-on 'save for New York' mode but of course that doesn't mean I don't still have a few (mostly pretty affordable) beauty favourites to share!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask | £11 | post

The more I use this product, the more I love it: it really is a miracle mask for me. When I'm having a spotty skin day I just use this (it's seriously invigorating and smells strongly of tea tree, but when something works I'm not going to complain) and by the next morning my smaller spots are gone and the larger ones reduced significantly. It's amazing if you have a special occasion or something and you just need your skin clear ASAP! It's also not too harsh or drying, like some anti-blemish products.

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle | £24 | post

This is a product I'd heard so much about and I actually have a different shade in this (Global Glow, which is deeper and more bronze-toned) and love the dewy look it gives me, so I was thrilled when my mum bought me this. It's a lovely light pearly champagne gold and gives a gorgeous natural glow to the skin. I can definitely see why this one is so popular.

Topshop Highlighter in Horizon | £10

Yes, I'm having a bit of a highlighter moment! When aren't I? I've not posted on this just yet so I've swatched it below. I've pretty much been alternating between this and Soft and Gentle. This doesn't have an obvious shimmer; it's a very natural, metallic finish. On paler skin it could work as a bronzer but for me it's not too far from my actual skin colour so it gives such a natural look.

Makeup Geek Contour Powder in Complicated | £7.95 | post

I love Makeup Geek eyeshadows so I was intrigued to try out their new contour powders. As you might have guessed: I wasn't disappointed! This is just so effortless to use and subtle on the skin that I've been converted to contouring my cheekbones a little pretty much every day. Complicated is described as 'Medium Cool' and it's the perfect shade for me. It blends onto my skin so effortlessly and gives me that really natural definition.

Rosie for Autograph Cream Blush in English Rose Flush | £14 | post

I'm very fussy when it comes to cream blusher; so many of them just feel thin, greasy and shiny on my combination skin and/or disappear by lunchtime! However this slightly thicker, more mousse-like texture is perfect for me. It's so quick and easy to dab on without it going patchy. It gives such a lovely, natural, fresh flush to my cheeks that lasts me all day. I love the timeless (but not dated) rose shade too.

If you don't own this palette: rectify that immediately! It's currently reduced to $12.50, which it was when I ordered then was around $6 to ship to the UK (I didn't get any additional fees on arrival) which made it barely more than a tenner in total! The shades are gorgeous and the quality is so much more impressive than I was expecting for the price. Don't get me wrong - it's not going to give Urban Decay eyeshadows or Becca highlighters a run for their money any time soon - but it's a good, affordable palette. The eye shades are gorgeous rosy and copper tones and the highlight shades range from pink-toned pearl to deep bronze.

Zoeva Nude Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette | £28.50 | post

It's the palette I didn't need but I just really wanted! I love Zoeva palettes and I love warm neutrals so this was a match made in heaven. The pigmentation and texture of these eyeshadows really is fantastic and I love the mixture of mattes and shimmers. There's not a single shade I don't use in this palette as it has lots of bronzes, browns, golds and taupes - all the good stuff as far as I'm concerned!

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Brink | $5 | post

This is just like all of my favourite MAC nude lipsticks (think Twig, Velvet Teddy, Spice and Taupe) blended into one! I really like the Lippie Stix formula; it's so creamy and has a nice satin finish. This is just a perfect everyday brown nude with a tiny hint of mauve to throw on and I'm really glad I picked this up.

Dose of Colors Matte Lipstick in Truffle | £14.50 | post

Unfortunately the shade I originally had in this (Stone) washed me out completely, however I'd heard good things about these liquid lipsticks so gave these another go. This time I picked up Truffle, which is much more suited to me. I love the formula of this; it's so creamy and non-drying but very long-lasting. Truffle is a slightly cool-toned medium brown nude - if you liked Velvet Teddy, you'll love this!

NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in 04 Ruffle Trim | £6.50

I picked up a few of these (so keep your eyes peeled for a post! There's a swatch below in the meantime) but so far my favourite is Ruffle Trim. I wasn't sure how I'd like these as I'd actually heard some mixed reviews about them but it just goes to show how personal this sort of thing is. I really love these as they have a nice consistency (though not as creamy as the Soft Mattes) but still long-lasting (more so than the Soft Mattes). I know some people find these a little drying but I just exfoliate and moisturise my lips as I always do with a matte formula and don't have a problem. There are definitely matte liquid lipsticks I find more comfortable to wear, but there are definitely ones I find way more drying. I really like the fact there are so many shades of nude to choose from so there's something perfect for everyone in there, though it's a bit annoying at the same time. These haven't appeared in-store yet  (though I've been advised by the lady at their counter that they're coming soon) and the Boots website swatches are awful as always. A lot of the shades are quite similar so beware, as you can end up ordering what feels like the same shade twice!

Marine de Quenetain Black & White Shelf Mug | £10

A little while ago I stumbled across Marine Dequenetain's Instagram profile and loved her beauty illustrations. I actually really wanted some of these images as a blog header but around a month after my initial enquiry her agent came back to me and quoted over €2000! I kind of just accepted that there's some art you're just not going to own until I came across this listing on Society6. I don't drink from this as it's far too pretty! I use it to store my everyday makeup brushes and I love how it fits in with the theme of my beauty setup. The images are so lovely and show some of my favourite products. I'm really pleased I stumbled across this so I have some of her illustrations to own for myself.

What do you think of my favourites this month and what were some of yours?
