Ciate x Olivia Palermo Collection | Review & Swatches

When I first saw the Ciate x Olivia Palermo Collection I was heart-eye-emojiing, but the prices felt really quite premium and as a brand known for nail polish, I wasn't sure what the quality would be like, so I waited... However a combination of discount codes and Christmas presents means I now have the Smoky Suedes Eyeshadow Palette (£35), Satin Kiss Lipstick in Praline (£19),  Cheekbone Cheat Duo in Seaside Park (£25) and Nail Polish in Nantucket (£17).

It is admittedly not the most accessible brand. You can actually get some of the products from this range from TK Maxx (though sadly not the shades I have here, other than the nail polish which I got for £6.99, or the eyeshadow palettes) and much of it is currently 30% off on the Ciate website. These were all purchased from LookFantastic with 20% off. Sadly my local TK Maxx is not the veritable home of cut-price premium beauty that other branches seem to be (unless you're really into Superdry makeup or like your lipsticks looking like they've been chewed up by a dog) but Poofie Peej managed to get hold of a few bits, so it's always worth checking! My local Superdrug now carries the range, so you may want to pop in, if only to have a swatch of the products.

The Nail Polish in Nantucket was pricier than something I'd usually go for but at the reduced price, I couldn't resist. It's a bright orange-toned coral that's super-glossy but free of any shimmer. It's honestly so opaque with even one coat - I was expecting it to be a bit sheer (as these shades often are) but it wasn't at all. I was a little disappointed though that the very edges started to chip after only a couple of days.

When it came to the Satin Kiss Lipsticks, there was only one from the range that was going to be for me, and that was Praline. It's a really gorgeous warm caramel-brown nude and I love the gold packaging and the embossment on the bullet. It is kind of pricey at £19 but as I've mentioned, it's almost impossible to pay full price for these products! It has a creamy, pigmented formula with a slight sheen to it. It's a great 'my lips but better' shade on me and I'd say the wear-time is average for this kind of formula (around 3-4 hours).

There were two options for the Cheekbone Cheat blusher and bronzer duo, whilst I loved the look of the dusky pink blusher in the other shade (Bluff Point) the bronzer looked a bit light for me so I chose Seaside Park, which has a coral colour. The formula of these is so creamy and gorgeous, it really does make applying the product effortless. Both the coral blush and the not-too-cool-not-too-warm bronzer have a matte finish, meaning you can use them to add a bit of subtle definition, as well as a flush of colour. They have that perfect level of colour payoff as they aren't too intense but you don't find yourself having to build on them to get the look you want. The formula doesn't go patchy on me over time either, so all-in-all it's a winner. And that's not even touching on the gorgeous gold and leather-effect packaging (though mine annoyingly arrived damaged with the pan totally detached from the outer packaging and Look Fantastic were useless about it).

I've saved the best for last with this gorgeous palette. The packaging feels really nice and sturdy and is done up like the cheek duo. The shades themselves give a great twist on classic nudes so is perfect if you want a pop of colour or you want to create a smoky neutral eye look for the evening. You have your golds and champagnes but also a stunning emerald green and a deep pink-purple shade. The only thing this is missing is a mid-brown crease shade. There are three mattes and the other six are shimmers, which is the sort of balance I like in a palette. My favourite look is 4 across the lid, 6 as a highlight, 3 in the crease and 7 on the outer v.

The quality is just as stunning as the shades; the texture is so creamy and buttery, they just glide onto my lids (yes, even the mattes!) The pigmentation is amazing too and the shades look beautiful once applied. They also last nicely throughout the day. Whether it's for day or night, this is a great all-rounder and I can actually happily say it's worth the splurge.

Have you tried any of Ciate's makeup?

  1. I was stood in TK Maxx the other day literally wondering whether to purchase some OP x Ciate pieces, oh the regret! That nail shade really is as beautiful as it looked on the package. Also, I need that palette.

  15. I Did the exact same thing lol I saw these products for the first time in superdrug before christmas and I was drawn like a moth to the flame...but when I saw the prices I literally had to look around to make sure I was still in superdrug and not selfridges or john lewis lol, they seemed really out of place! I didn't purchase anything...obviously lol but I did think they looked stunning I love the praline lippie and seaside park blusher and bronzer although i think it is too fair for my skin.x

  21. That palette just has to be in my life. I keep telling myself, nope you have more than enough eyeshadows for at least ten different girl groups but it's just too pretty to ignore. Great post, thanks for the swatches. I think they look really complimentary to brown/green eyes in particular. So I think I can justify it haha.

  23. Love that vibrant coral polish, I feel like I have something similar but in an OPI formula that I really like (so hard to remember polish names sometimes!). I also love the look of that Praline lipstick, as soon as I saw the swatch my eyes lit up, haha. I love tones like that that you can wear every day.
