Blush Addict Tag!

I'm so rubbish at doing tags! However when Heather from one of my favourite blogs, Porcelain Beauty, tagged me to do this post I thought it was perfect timing. I was never a blusher kind of gal until recently but a combination of better brushes and learning how to apply products better has given me a new love of it.

1. What colour blush suits you the most?

I hate to be boring but I think peachy tones are best on me. I have quite a warm skin tone so I've learned that very neutral and cool shades really don't work very well for me!

2. Pressed/cream/loose blush?

I have to be boring again and go with pressed; I just find it the easiest to work with and the best formula for lasting throughout a long day at work on my very shine-prone face. I've never used a loose blusher so that can go on my beauty to-try list!

3. Favourite shimmery blush?

I love Nars Orgasm (£23, swatched here, top right of image). Firstly, I don't think it's as full-on shimmery as people think, there's definitely not glitter involved! It's a lovely peachy shade with a golden shimmer running through - perfect for Spring/Summer! I think it flatters so many skin tones and works in the day or night and it's really easy to apply.

4. Favourite matte blush?

Currently I'm really loving MAC Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby* (£18, review and swatch here, top left of image) which is one of their Sheertone formulas, so again it's very easy to apply subtly and then build on it if you wish to. The pinky-brown nude colour makes it a perfect everyday blusher and also one I reach for if I'm going for bold eyes or lips.

5. Favourite cream blush?

It would have to be the KIKO Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in Geranium (£7.90, review and swatch here, centre of image). I wouldn't quite describe it as cream-to-powder but 'velvet' seems appropriate. It doesn't make my face shiny and lasts really well. The shade is also an interesting rosy-berry matte colour.

6. Favourite drugstore blush?

I'll have to go for the Sleek Blush in Suede (£4.49, review and swatch here, bottom-right of image). It's that perfect everyday matte muted peach. I reach for this all the time and can't believe what a bargain it was! Although Sleek is famed for super-pigmented blushers, this one's a little more subtle. I really recommend the brand as a whole for affordable single blushers and palettes.

7. Favourite high-end blush?

As I've already mentioned Orgasm, I'll go for my Tarte 12-Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating ($26, top centre of image). Tarte may or may not be high-end but it's pretty pricey in the UK. Unfortunately this shade isn't available in the UK but if you're placing a Sephora order definitely check it out. It applies like a dream and is a gorgeous, vibrant matte peach shade (amazingly true to how it looks in the pan). This is definitely the one that got me into blusher these past couple of months.

8. Favourite bright blush?

This might be cheating as it's not a single blush but I love the Sleek Blush by 3 Palette in Lace (£9.99, review and swatches here, centre left in image). It looks very beautiful but slightly terrifying and has a shade very similar to Nars Orgasm that's complimented by 2 neon matte shades in orange and pink. Applied with a light hand these are perfect for Summer.

9. Biggest blush disappointment?

Definitely Nars Madly (£23)! It just didn't really show up on me or do much at all - such a waste of money!

10. Best blush packaging?

I'd have to go with the Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger (£16.50, top left-hand of image), which is a pretty recent addition to my collection. The outer packaging is completely clear and the blusher is in a lovely flower shape.

11. What's on your blush wish list?

I'm eyeing up the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, I just can't decide on a shade! Recommendations are welcome in the comments...

12. #1 holy grail blush?

It has to be Orgasm! It just really suits me and the fact it goes with virtually any look means it's one I reach for again and again.

I tag Jess, Alina and Sally!

  6. I love your blush picks. I am totally with you as I am not really a huge blush lover and I am not one to spend a lot on blushes. However, I think my favourite blush is Sleek Sahara and Rose Gold. I also love the Kuddy Cosmetics Blush Crush Palette. I have not tried any high end ones yet but the Hour Glass ones sound promising (if only it will show up on my skin)...xx

  7. I love your photography here! A great TAG & loved reading your answers! If you're having difficulty deciding on which of the Ambient Lighting blushes & have one or more of the powders, try layering it over blushes you already own - it looks particularly good over matte blushes. I wrote a post about it here (http://tinyurl.com/loh39qz) if you wanted to see some of the effects you can achieve. Xx

  31. I should totally do this tag! It's so fun. I feel you on the powder blushes, I hardly ever reach for a cream blush...and so many people love them, I just don't gravitate towards any of the few in my collection. :/
