REVIEW & SWATCHES || Makeup Revolution Iconic Dreams Eyeshadow Palette

There's been rather a lot of Makeup Revolution on my blog this past week or so as I've been testing three of their new ranges pretty much every day since they arrived. This time I'm reviewing and swatching the 12-shade Iconic Dreams palette (you can read about the Lip Hugs here and the Golden Sugar Blush palette here). So, let's get started!

If you're familiar with their 12-shade palettes you'll know they cost £4 (though I checked the weights and you actually get more product in these than in MUA's similar ones) and come in functional black packaging. It doesn't look as cheap as it is plus it shuts securely, which is all I really want! The clear panel is also a nice touch as it's easy to tell which is which when you're rushing around.

Iconic Dreams is a pretty fitting name as this palette is mostly fluffy pastel shades. The first half is more light creams and pinks and the second half is a variety of darker shades. It has a good mix of mattes and shimmers and it's a really nice, original choice of colours. The shades aren't named so I've numbered them.

The first few shades are fairly similar to each other - they'll either be your base colour or your highlight. 1 and 3 are the two matte shades and though they could definitely be a little more pigmented they aren't too chalky. I really like 2 (a pink-toned champagne shimmer) in my inner corner. 4 and 5 are quite similar but 4 is a little more pink and 5 more purple. 6 is more of a glitter than a shimmer and the colour pay-off is the only real disappointment in this palette - no matter how much I tried, there simply isn't much to it.

This second half is a little more interesting for me. I love shade 7, it's a little unusual as it's an orange-toned gold but it isn't really bright. Shade 8 is pretty much the entire reason I picked up Iconic Dreams! It's a gorgeous olive shade with a hint of gold. Shade 9, as you can probably tell, had quite a bit of fallout (the only one in the palette that does) - it has a dark base with gold glitter which gives a green appearance. 10 is one I really like - a plum shimmer to smoke things up a bit. 11 and 12 are both matte shades. 11 is a nice lilac-taupe but it isn't that pigmented so I use it mainly in the crease. 12 is actually really nicely pigmented - a warm woody brown.

I think you can get a very light cream-pink look, a more brown-gold look and a green look from this palette so it's quite adaptable. I think it's lovely for daytime wear. The look below is using the cream and pink shades with a tiny touch of shade 11 and shade 8

All in all I have no complaints with this palette! It may not be for you if you like a dramatic look but for me it's a nice variation on neutrals. As always with this brand it is fantastic value for money and it would make a cute, inexpensive stocking filler for the beauty junkie in your life.
