Each year I've done this series (it's been running for a good while now) it's been harder and harder to find affordable products to feature! in 2021 (I believe) I had a post that was all about products that you could get for less than a Pret lunch, with the bar being set at £6-7. How times have changed; you're not getting a Pret lunch for that, nor are you getting skincare products... However, I did find a few skincare products I really love that thankfully still come in at under £10. Here's why I'm such a fan...

First up, we have Q+A Grapefruit Cleansing Balm* | £9.50. If there's one area in which you can definitely save a bit of money on, it's cleansers! Ultimately, if it's effective and you enjoy the texture and experience then there's no need to spend much at all on this step in your routine. This cleansing balm is a great low-cost option and I love that it comes in a tube for easy access and it also makes this a very travel-friendly first cleanse option. This is a grapefruit-scented creamy balm to oil cleanser that emulsifies perfectly with water. It melts down all of my makeup (including eye makeup, without irritating my sensitive eyes) and sunscreen so it can be transformed into a milk and washed or wiped away. It's highly effective, it has a pleasant, luxury-feel texture and it's £9.50!

As a second / morning cleanse, I really like the e.l.f. Pure Skin Cleanser | £9. This is a gentle, non-foaming, water-based jelly cleanser. It's perfect for dry and / or sensitive skin because it works without stripping back my skin's natural moisture levels. It's formulated with nourishing oat milk, soothing allantoin, niacinamide to boost skin barrier function and glycerin to draw hydration into the skin. It's simple, it's skin-friendly and ti works perfectly.

Of course I had to recommend a sunscreen for this post and my pick is the Bondi Sands Fragrance-Free Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50+* | £8.99. I repurchase this every summer (there’s also a body version) because when you’re on holiday, out and about in the sun, you need a product that’s easy to apply and reapply throughout the day and that you can slather on without feeling like you’re ’using it up too quickly’. This product fits the bill for me; it’s an Australian formula so meets a strict testing criteria for both its efficacy as a sunscreen but also for its water resistance. At the same time, this moisturising formula sits really nicely underneath makeup and doesn’t pill even if I’m reapplying for the 3rd or 4th time. This makes it a wonderful all-rounder for different situations if you’re on a budget and can’t splash out on different sunscreens for different occasions.

A great antioxidant option if you're on a budget is the Simple Booster Serum 10% Vitamin C + E + F* | £9.99. This is a gentle product that will be suitable for almost anyone; it comes in a moisturising milky serum base and contains a Vitamin C derivative that’s stable and will help to brighten the skin and protect it from free radicals damage without irritation. It also contains Vitamins E and F to bolster the antioxidant benefits of the Vitamin C, Vitamin E is fat-soluble so can have moisturising benefits and Vitamin F is rich in linoleic acid to help replenish the skin. This is hydrating, moisturising and gives my skin a lovely glow and plumpness, plus it helps to protect the skin in the long run.

As a facial cream, I really enjoy the G&G Happier Barrier Moisturiser* | £9.11. This is more of a night cream but on my dry skin during the winter, I can definitely use it in the day too! It’s formulated with squalane, a skin-similar plant-derived oil that helps replenish lost nourishment, alongside ceramides and skin-similar lipids. Plus there are soothing ingredients like allantoin and bisabolol, which are perfect for sensitive or sensitised skin. This makes it a wonderful all-rounder to get things back on track if your skin is suffering a little this winter. It’s also not a really heavy, oil-based cream; yes, it’s nourishing, but it’s not greasy or smothering at all.

Finally, let's talk about the Ordinary's Argireline Solution 10% | £9.20. Whilst I generally recommend their Multi-Peptide, it's quite a bit more expensive than their single-peptide serums and in this category, the best one I've tried is the Argireline Solution. Peptides are short-chain amino acids, which (in terms of what they do for your skin) are going to hydrate and replenish the skin; they can promote skin healing and possibly could even increase collagen production in the skin (which gives it its youthful bounce). Argireline does have some marketing associated with it; primarily the claim that its 'botox in a bottle' because it could help inhibit the formation of fine lines. This is a patented ingredient, so I do take this with a pinch of salt, but what I can speak to are the results I saw for myself using this product. I found that my skin looked plumper and felt more hydrated from the jump with this serum. I think it's a combination of instant hydration helping to smooth out some dehydration lines and something a little more long-lasting. If you've been wanting to try peptides but you've been put off by some of the expensive products on the market; give this a go. I think you'll love it as much as me, but even if you don't, at least you've not spent a lot of money to try a new, potentially highly effective ingredient.

Have you tried any of my under £10 picks?
