I've been delaying this post for weeks because of the weather but, believe it or not, apparently it's spring! I'm so over the cold weather and short days; I live for sunshine and glow-y makeup looks. Today I'm talking my top beauty picks for the season, so I hope you enjoy.
Makeup
MAC Strobe Cream in Goldlite | £25 | This is such a great product for glow and hydration. It contains a very slight golden sheen that leaves the skin looking fresh and healthy, which is exactly what I want for my makeup at this time of year.
Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser | £30 | review | I mentioned this in my winter edit and I've probably talked about it in previous spring posts, but it really is that good! It's just a great hydrating, lightweight everyday base that gives a flawless look to the skin. It's long-wearing for this type of product and gives that 'perfect skin' look without feeling like you have much makeup on at all.
YSL Touche Eclat Highlighting Pen (4.5) | £25.50 | This is an old favourite of mine because it instantly adds light and radiance. I tend to use it under the eyes, though it’s not really a concealer because it doesn’t give much coverage, but it can be used as a face highlighter too. I love the luminous look for spring and this is amazing for achieving that.
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Rose Gold* | £34 (for full size) | These highlighting drops are lovely for mixing in with foundation for a subtle look or dabbing on over it for something more intense. They have this beautiful liquid metal finish that gives the skin amazing glow. This shade is my favourite - a warm rosy colour that's perfect for spring makeup looks.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in Captivating | $29 | This is one of my favourite blush formulas, especially when it comes to matte finishes - it's long-wearing and easy to apply whilst having that balanced level of colour payoff that shows up nicely but isn't too much. Captivating is a lovely warm peach tone.
ColourPop Give it to Me Straight Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette | $16 | I really like the quality of ColourPop eyeshadow palettes - they have great pigmentation and I find them easy to work with. Whilst they're not what I reach for when I need to know my eyeshadow will last for aaaages, I can trust them on the average work day. This palette is full of romantic warm purple, brown, pink and copper tones.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal | £19.50 | This is one of my favourite lip products because it's just so nourishing and gives that hint of colour and gloss. It's a warm pinky colour that gives more pigment than you'd think from a tinted lip balm.
Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dolce Vita | £21 | This is that rare spring-appropriate lip colour that has a matte finish. I find this formula so unusual - it almost gives a stain effect that's long-wearing but nothing too drying. The colour is a somehow muted-but-vibrant rose.
Skincare
Pixi Rose Caviar Essence* | £26 | I'm running out of this rapidly but I really like it and it's perfect for fresh, hydrated skin. It has a melting gel texture with real rose in it and absorbs quickly, plumping the skin and leaving it nicely soft.
Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist* | £25 | I tend to use this as a hydrating toner to plump my skin and get rid of any dry patches, however you can also apply this mist over makeup for a gorgeously dewy look.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask* | £40 | When my skin is looking a bit lacklustre and I want to perk things up overnight - I reach for this mask! It has a sort of gel / jelly formula that absorbs quickly. It contains both hyaluronic acid for hydration and AHAs for acid exfoliation (removing dead skin cells to reveal a more radiant complexion).
Etc.
Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne | £45 | Jo Malone is the queen of floral and fruity scents, making her 'splash of fragrance' colognes perfect for spring. Despite the floral notes Peony and Blush Suede is fresh, as opposed to dated, and the scent always draws me in.
Essie Nail Polish in Eternal Optimist | £7.99 | I am all about the gel manicure these days but this is an old favourite. It's not the longest-lasting formula but it is nicely opaque and the warm blush nude colour is perfect for this time of year.
What are your spring beauty essentials?
