First Aid Skincare | Dehydration

I thought I'd start a new series on my blog talking through the products I reach for when my skin is in need of a bit of assistance... This instalment is tackling dehydration, which can affect any skin type, so I've chosen lightweight, fresh products that will work for almost everyone!

Cleanser: Trilogy Cream Cleanser | £23.50 | This is the perfect cleanser for dehydrated skin because it's very lightweight, like a lotion, as opposed to being thick and heavy. It's softening, soothing and hydrating, plus very easy to use because it doesn't leave any excess behind on the skin after it's rinsed off. It can be used both as a morning cleanser and as a second cleanse after you've removed your makeup.
Hydrating ingredients include: aloe vera, rosehip oil, Vitamin E

Toner: Avene Thermale Spring Water* | £10 | I often used facial mists in place of a toner and this one is so hydrating and refreshing! It instantly soothes my skin and calms any irritation. Any tightness is relieved and my skin just looks plumper and fresher.
Hydrating ingredients include: Avene thermal spring water

Serum: Vichy Aqualia Thermale Serum | £25 | This is an old favourite of mine! It's a water-light serum that absorbs so nicely into the skin without leaving the surface at all sticky or shiny. It's honestly like a long-lasting splash of water on your face - it just really plumps up the skin, sorting out any dehydration lines, dryness or tightness and makes it look glowing and healthy.
Hydrating ingredients include: Vichy thermal spring water, hyaluronic acid

Moisturiser: Dr G Hydra Cream Full of Water* | £38 | I love these kinds of gel-cream moisturiser formulas because I have combination but dehydrated skin. This allows me to pack in the moisture without slapping thick, heavy products onto my skin that are just going to smother it and break me out. This is such a fast-absorbing, fresh formula that gives lasting hydration to my skin, leaving it so soft and smooth.
Hydrating ingredients include: aloe leaf extract, melon fruit extract, raspberry fruit extract

Night Treatment: Glow Recipe Watermelon Overnight Mask* | £40 | This overnight mask is kind of an all-rounder: it contains amazing ingredients to plump, restore, smoothen and refresh the skin. It has an interesting jelly-like formula that sort of melts onto the skin. It initially sits on the surface of the skin, so I apply it at least 10 minutes before I go to bed, which allows it to fully absorb. By morning my skin just looks so much more hydrated and healthy. It also feels smoother texture-wise. I've not tried anything else from this brand (available via Cult Beauty), however I'm definitely intrigued now!
Hydrating ingredients include: watermelon, antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids

  11. I am a huge fan of thermal spring water too but the one I love most is by La Roche Posay. I don't mind Avene but I find it to be just okay.

  13. I'm really interested in trying the watermelon overnight mask but I can't seem to find it in Canada :( I actually just switched my skin cleanser from a soap based cleanser to an oil cleanser to help with dry winter skin. I'm currently using Josie Maran Argan Oil cleanser.
