Autumn New in Beauty | Haul & Review

It's definitely, officially Autumn and there are a bunch of new beauty releases out at the moment that I've been looking forward to sharing with you!

Affordable & Mid-Range

Soap & Glory Peach Pout Completely Balmy Lipsticks in Peach for the Sky, Peach Ball & Freedom of Peach* | £9 each | To me, this seems like it would've been better as a summer launch, however these new lipsticks from Soap and Glory really are quite lovely! There are three shades: a light peach, a mid-toned version and a deeper, more vibrant pinky-peach. Personally, the lightest shade isn't for me, but the others are very pretty - I love a vibrant-sheer lipstick because they're just so wearable. The finish is hydrating and slightly glossy. It's not the longest-lasting formula but that's not really what you expect from this kind of product anyway.

Soap & Glory Spectaculips Matte-allic Lip Creams in Gold Dusk, Pink Charming & Bronze Girl* | £8 each | I'm not really one for shimmer on the lips but this does have an intriguing formula. As the name suggests, they go on like matte lip creams (that are nothing too drying) and have a fine shimmer running through them. There are three shades - the peachy-gold Gold Dusk, silvery-pink Pink Charming and brown-gold-bronze Bronze Girl. Personally, the only shade that I find wearable for me is Bronze Girl. The shimmer isn't anything unflattering, though this does fade quite obviously and needs topping up after a few hours of wear. This is never going to be my lip formula of choice but I'm not mad at these!

Mane 'N Tail Detangler* | £7.99 | I've mentioned a few times on my blog that I've been really impressed with this affordable haircare brand (which was originally developed for horses!) The latest product I've been trialling from their range is the Detangler, which is aimed at giving you strong, healthy, tangle-free hair. I do have quite dry hair so tangles can really cause me breakage. I've been misting this on my hair right before I blow-dry it - the formula is very moisturising but not at all heavy and gives my hair a smooth sleekness that helps stop tangles. Overall, I really like this stuff!

Leighton Denny Miracle Mist* | £12 | I was kindly sent over a box of autumn and Halloween goodies from HQ Hair, which you can check out here. One of the products in there was this fast-dry nail polish mist. I used to think this kind of product was a bit gimmicky and a load of nonsense, however it genuinely does work! I just give a light misting of this over my nail polish and it makes it set so much faster. I'm really impatient with waiting for my nails to dry so often end up accidentally 'splodging' them, however not with this! I think it's going to come in handy by the time party season rolls around however I've tried a more affordable one from Elegant Touch that does the same job, so I'm inclined to repurchase that instead when this runs out.

Real Techniques Core Collection Kit (Face)* | £16.49 | I actually already have this in the old packaging, so I'll probably but this into a giveaway for you guys. Inside the case you get a contour brush, which is really great because it's nice and precise, allowing you to blend out either cream or powder products for a natural look. I honestly don't really use these kinds of pointed foundation brushes, other than sometimes for concealer under the eyes, because the size and shape is actually pretty good for that. I use the tiny detailer brush for concealer - specifically for tidying up around the brows. Finally there's my favourite from this set: the buffing brush - it's just a great one for everyday foundation. It also works for tinted moisturisers and light bases because it creates a very natural look on the skin.

Tangle Teezer Backcombing Brush* | £10 | I'm not a huge back-comber (just to disclaim!) however I do really like this brush because it has more than one row of teeth, making it very easy for this task. I find it easy to create volume at the crown of my head using this, however it isn't something I'd go to the trouble of doing every single day.

TIGI Catwalk Haute Iron Spray* | £15.95 | I've been using the Batiste Heat and Shine spray for a while and I have wanted to try something new, but there really aren't that many option for heat protectors that aren't 'wet' (and don't leave my hair feeling weirdly sticky and crunchy). So, I was really excited to discover this, and it hasn't disappointed! I makes my hair shiny but not at all greasy or heavy and ensures that any heat styling tools glide right over my hair.

NYX Lid Lingerie Eyeshadow Palette* | £8 | I've eyed this palette up a few times but decided against it because I do have similar shades elsewhere - having said that; if you don't and you're looking for something that will just give you everything you need in terms of nude matte eyeshadow, then definitely check this out. I was really impressed with the smoothness of these shadows and how easily they blend. Not a single shade is chalky or requires much building up. However at the same time, the pigmentation isn't too much, so they're perfect for a quick and easy eye look. They last very well and I can say that I honestly use every shade in this palette.

Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Jewelled Pewter* | £12 | I'm always confused as to why this product is called a 'pen' because it's definitely a pencil! That aside, I have a few of these and really love the formula - it's creamy and pigmented but sets down and lasts without smudging or fading too much. This shade is definitely more for a cool-toned silvery-grey smoky eye. It's a metallic grey-blue graphite colour.

3ina the Duo Eyeshadow in 600* | £10.95 | This is a really cute concept and I love the effect (though I'm sure it'll soon disappear...) The only thing I'd say is that this is more like a crease colour and a highlight for me, whereas in a 'quick and easy' duo like this, I'd personally prefer something that works better all over the lid. However this champagne shimmer and charcoal brown matte are both really good in terms of pigmentation and application. They blend out nicely and last well, I just think the colour choice could have been better.

3ina the Eyebrow Kit in 402* | £15.95 | Looking at this in the pan, I definitely though the shades were going to be too light for me, however they aren't, it's just more of a natural look that it gives. This is different to a lot of these brow kits I've tried because the wax isn't overly thick and heavy - it's very soft and everyday-appropriate. I use the wax with a small angled brush to re-shape my brows. The powder is also nice to brush through and give a bit of extra volume and fill in any gaps.

Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner* | £16 | It's always difficult for me to talk about eyeliner pens, because the Stila one is my ultimate, all-time favourite! However there are a couple of others that I like, such a Soap & Glory's Supercat and also the ones from Eyeko. It has a fine felt tip style end and applies almost like a marker pen, which makes it pretty easy to control. The formula is pigmented and is actually pretty long-lasting with minimal smudging. However for the similar price-point, I think I'll still to my beloved Stila!

Roger & Gallet Extraits de Cologne The Fantaisie* | £54 | To me, Roger and Gallet is a really underrated brand - I think they've done a really good job with their packaging and product range over the past year or so in order to make it feel very premium. This is one of the options from their latest fragrance launch and I always try to describe the scent before looking up the notes with perfumes! With this one, my initial feelings are that it's an interesting blend of slightly fruity and spicy elements with some herbal notes. It actually contains black tea, benjoin, cardamom, sage and vetiver. It's a unique combination that's a feminine take on smoky, spicy scents and it also has really amazing staying power.

Zoeva Cafe Eyeshadow Palette* | £17.50 | I already mentioned this in my Autumn Beauty Edit but I couldn't resist still including it here as a new launch for this season. I love Zoeva eyeshadow palettes - they're still pretty affordable and they always have a theme, named shades and come in this slimline but durable packaging. The quality is just excellent, in my opinion! The mattes are smooth and blend beautifully - they have very good, even pigmentation. The shimmers are also incredibly pretty and there's not really a shade in here that I don't love. This is a slightly different kind of autumn palette because it's warm but also smoky and has some cranberry tones mixed in.

Leighton Denny Heritage Nail Polish Collection* | £12 each | Leighton Denny is such a great nail polish brand - I really don't understand why it isn't huge! I guess the one thing I'd say is that the packaging isn't the most luxe or stylish, however the product inside is invariably amazing. When I saw they'd released an English Heritage collection, I did think it was at risk of being a bit bland, at best, or dated, at worst. However I think that with this collection they've really succeeded in creating shades that give new life to the classic looks. I've now tried all of these polishes and the formula is pretty consistent across the collection - it's one of the longest-lasting formulas I've tried (I get at least 4 days of wear on my weak nails before I experience even the tiniest chip) and overall the shades are very opaque (though the lightest colours do need a couple of coats).

Take Your Wellies is a sort of deep brown with slightly greyish purple undertones. Rural Sunset (my personal favourite of the lot) is a wearable warm pinky-nude colour. Tea for Two is a classic off-white with a hint of pink. Pretty in Plaid is a stunning red-black shade with red and silver glitter running through it. Winter Garden is a warm pink-berry tone. Country Club is what I'd describe as a denim blue.

Caudalie French Kiss Tinted Lip Balms* | £10 each | I was super looking forward to trying these because a good tinted lip balm is a product that will always have a place in my beauty collection and I don't think I've tried a product from Caudalie I haven't liked. However I was a little disappointed in these! Don't get me wrong - they're nice and hydrating, but the pigmentation is so light that they do all look quite similar and just don't give me that nice glossy look that my Fresh Lip Treatments do (the measuring stick for a tinted lip balm products, I feel). Innocent is a light pink (I personally wouldn't use a colour this light), Addiction is a warm mid-toned pink and Seduction is a deeper berry tone.

Embryolisse Limited Edition Lait Creme Concentre* | £15 | I'm sure regular readers are sick of seeing this product on my blog! I actually hadn't tried this classic until a few months ago when I was sent a little one like this and I've since bought the biggest tube available because it's become and absolute essential in my routine. It can be used as a moisturising primer, a night cream, a moisturiser or even an overnight mask (if applied liberally). It jus smooths the skin, taking care of any dry patches and leaving it very soft. It's suitable for most skin types because it has a very light cream texture despite giving amazing nourishment. Embryolisse have launched this in new Parisian-themed limited edition packaging for autumn, which is really cute!

Hylamide Pore Flush* | £13 | I'm a huge fan of the hyaluronic mist that Hylamide does, so I was really excited to try this new version that's aimed at tacking spot-prone skin. I don't use this every single day but when my skin is looking spotty, shiny or I have enlarged pores then I reach for it in place of a toner in the morning. It has a plant-based formula so really doesn't feel harsh on the skin, though I have to warn you that the mist is quite heavy, so you don't need to go overboard with spritzing it! It really helps calm down any angry breakouts and feels nice and refreshing on the skin.

High-End

Iconic London Complete Face Set in Gold & Cream* | £59.99 | These brushes are absolutely stunning (though the colour does make it tricky to get them looking like new after a wash!) They also come in a really high-quality makeup bag and they're all synthetic. To me, the obvious comparison, given the beautiful finish and the price-point, is with the Zoeva Rose Gold sets.

This comes with a Large Powder Brush, a Fan Brush (which I actually like to use for contouring), Angled Contour (I find this is especially good with cream products), Contour Buffer (I personally like this for a flawless  finish with my foundation), Angled Blush Brush (this isn't one I use so much, just because I prefer denser bristles for blusher and bronzer), Fluffy Tapered Brush (perfect for highlighting), Flat Foundation Brush (I personally never really use these kinds of brushes) and Concealer Blending Brush (I don't often use a brush for concealer these days but this works nicely for buffing under the eyes and on the face). If I have one criticism, it's that the bristles just don't feel as premium as I was expecting - some of the brushes aren't as dense as I'd like and the bristles are quite silky. I think if I were to advise you which to invest in, I'd still say the Zoeva ones.

Iconic London Illuminator in Shine* | £29.99 | I actually already have the Original version of this, which is a better colour for my skin tone. However this lighter, pearly-pink tone will be perfect for light complexions. These multi-use highlighting drops can be mixed in with foundation or dabbed on top of it for a more dramatic look. You really don't need much product at all to get the effect!

Iconic London Limited Edition Day to Slay Eyeshadow Palette* | £45 | This palette just screams 'winter party' to me and there's not a single shade in the mix that I wouldn't use! There are one or two colours that are slightly glittery and gritty for me (such as Peach Fizz), however overall I find the quality to be excellent. The mattes aren't at all chalky and have really great colour payoff. The shimmers have a mix of finishes - some are more like a foiled shadow but others have a softer, more satin sheen. I love the overall warm-toned theme and true to name, it has the smokier colours for the evening but also the more natural shades for everyday wear. I'd say the longevity is good, not great, however I do find the shades very easy to blend and apply.

Stila Convertible Colour in Tulip* | £16 | This is one of those classic Stila products I'd somehow still never tried! I'm always dubious of purported lip and cheek products, and whilst I'm still sceptical, this is one of the better ones I've tried. It's very pretty on the lips for that bitten winter look because it's a warm berry colour. It does work on the cheeks too for a natural flush of colour, however for my combination skin, it does tend to look a bit shiny and not wear that well. However I know a lot of people with dry skin types love these.

Stila Colour Balm Lipstick in Vivienne* | £16 | I've already mentioned this on my blog because I'm kind of loving it at the moment! I'm a huge fan of Stila - everything looks and feels very high-end but the price-point is actually very reasonable. This is a moisturising, semi-sheer lip product that's actually more opaque than you'd expect. It's a muted, rich mid-toned burgundy berry shade that's perfect for this time of year!

By Terry Glow-Expert Duo Stick in Amber Light* | £38 | I've actually picked up this product so many times in Space NK before talking myself out of the purchase, so I was thrilled when it was sent over to me to try! The colour combination is beautiful - I've swatched the shades separately and mixed together below, so you can see the effect. It's a subtle but dewy look, which I really like for this time of year. One side is a light gold and the other a deeper, warmer amber tone.

By Terry Stylo Blackstar in Purplyn Gem* | £25 | I'm a long-term fan of the Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow sticks, however By Terry now do a pencil-tip version in some new shades. The formula is very similar, however I'd say these are definitely more like eyeliners than something I'd use all over the lid. This deep, rich metallic purple is gorgeous on the lower lash line to add something a little different (as opposed to the standard black or brown). It has a very smooth texture that really doesn't need building on to get the colour payoff. It sets down to a very long-wearing formula that isn't smudgy.

By Terry Stylo Expert Click Stick in Bloom Nude* | £24.50 | This is unlike any lip product I've ever tried before - you click it up through the packaging and it has an interesting shape, which actually really helps apply it neatly and define your lips. The texture itself is very different too - if I had to compare it to something it'd be the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipsticks. It has a sort of soft matte balmy texture that has an opaque, matte finish that wears very well. This is a neutral-toned pink nude that's a bit light on my skin tone, however I do want to go and check out the rest of the range because I really like the formula.

Molton Brown Russian Leather Eau de Toilette* | £45 | This scent is exactly as the name would suggest! It's a smoky, masculine scent with leather, pine and amber. It's a true unisex product that's giving me all of the autumn-winter vibes. It reminds me of being out in a cabin in the snow somewhere, sinking into a sofa in front of the fire place... This is an eau de toilette, which mean it isn't a really strong, intense scent, however I think that works with this fragrance, because it makes it more wearable for women who want a more masculine scent without seeming as though they've doused themselves in aftershave!

Molton Brown Russian Leather Bath & Shower Gel* | £20 | This is the matching bath and shower gel from this range. It has the same warm, smoky leather scent and lingers really nicely on the skin after use. It's very foamy both on the skin and when added to your water as a bubble bath.

Have you picked up any new beauty bits for the autumn?

  12. Ι was disappointed with Caudalie's lip balms too. I get no color at all and the formula doesn't go well with my lips so it doesn't feel hydrating at all! Bummer!

  13. That Iconic highlighter would be perfect on my pale AF skin, I love the tone and shade of it too! I'm sad you are disappointed by the Claudalie lipbalms, I have their standard twisty one and it is the best lipbalm I own (and I have hundreds!) So was sad to see the tinted isn't as nice :(
