The Everyday Makeup Edit #7

Over my birthday, I did manage to amass a lot of new products that I've been testing out over the past few weeks. Quite a few of them have made it into my everyday makeup pile along with some old favourites that I'll walk you through today!

Base

I mentioned in my summer makeup post that I'm loving the First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturiser | £20.50. It's so smoothing and hydrating without being thick and heavy. I love these sorts of 2-in-1 skincare and makeup products and this is amazing for a glowing makeup look. As always, I correct under the eyes with my Bobbi Brown Corrector (Peach) | £19.50 | review. I really love the Ordinary's Serum Foundation (2.1Y) | £5.70 | at the moment, and will finally be doing a full review now the Coverage version has arrived. It has a very fluid formula but gives more coverage than the name might suggest, evening out the skin tone and giving it a perfected look. It isn't a greasy formula but does make my skin look nice and glowing. It's also decently long-wearing and the shade works pretty well now I have a tan.

I'm still concealing with the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Ginger) | £23 | both under the eyes and on any blemishes. The medium-full coverage, long-lasting formula and natural finish makes this my perfect everyday concealer. It requires minimal work to blend seamlessly into my foundation and isn't at all drying on the skin. I use a lightweight, glowing coverage powder to set things down and keep my face shine free and I'm still opting for the MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural (Medium Dark) | £24.50. I've been finishing up with a mist of the Rimmel #Insta Fix & Glow Setting Spray* | £6.99. I've been obsessed with this lately as the smell and feel of it on my skin is so nice and refreshing. It leaves my skin looking fresh and glowing and my makeup seamless.

Cheeks

In terms of highlighter I've had a few products on the go, but I think the standout has been the Pixi Glow-y Powder in Santorini Sunset | £14. It has a really unusual texture; it's very finely-milled and gives a soft, sheeny glow. The colour is a light gold colour with a warm peachy undertone. I'm also loving the Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Ipanema Sun | £32. It has a smooth, easy-to-apply formula and is seriously pigmented! The tone is warm and it has a slight sheen to it, making it perfect for summer. I've been pretty low-key when it comes to blusher and my go-to has been Too Faced's Papa Don't Peach Blush | £25. This is hands-down one of my favourite blushers ever, because it's understated and always does what I want it to! It's a soft, warm peachy tone that's subtle on the cheeks and has a very slight sheen running through it. It applies evenly and wears really well.

Eyes

As always, my priming duo is the Urban Decay Priming Potion (Original) | £17 | & MAC Peintures Paint in Bamboom | £16 (read more here). I've then found myself gravitating towards the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette | £32 | on work days. It just always seems to work for a soft and natural look, though there are a couple of deeper shades to smoke things up with. They're true neutrals, so there's nothing overly warm or too cool and grey in there, and I use every single colour. The quality is just amazing; they're so pigmented but blend out with ease and last so well on me. There's a great balance of mattes and shimmers, plus you have everything in here in terms of base colours, lid shades, crease tones and so on. I always say that for people who don't have loads of makeup and just want one product to do it all; this is the eyeshadow palette for you!

I'll keep it brief on the liners as it's a bit 'same old, same old' in this department! I use the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stingray* | £14.50 | for tight-lining. It's so smooth, pigmented and completely matte and black. It also doesn't smudge or transfer. For the lower lash line I opt for the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smog | £15.50. It's a brown-bronze colour with a soft sheen that's very long-wearing. Finally, of course my liquid liner is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black | £14.50. It's so precise and pigmented and is one of only a handful of winged liner pens that doesn't smear all over the place.

I actually have a new mascara I'm enjoying this month: Maybelline's The Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara | £7.99. I picked this up a while ago and kind of forgot about it, however last month I clocked it in my draw and decided to pull the cellophane off and give it a go! It has an unusual, long, narrow wand with very small bristles. However that helps you get right into the root of the lashes to lift, curl and lengthen them. It isn't the most voluminising formula but I'm all about long lashes that make your eyes look wide open, and this does that. My one negative would be that it can very slightly smudge sometimes.

I have a new brow duo in my everyday makeup stash: the ColourPop Brow Pencil (Black N Brown) | $5 | & Benefit's Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel* (03). The ColourPop pencil is pigmented but not too over-the top and makes it easy to redefine the shape of your brows. It's also long-lasting and smudge-proof. A fresh tube of Gimme Brow arrived just as my Glossier Boy Brow was finished up, which was perfect timing. I love this product as it adds volume, colour and hold without being clumpy or stiff on the brows. The brush is tiny and precise so you won't make a mess or over-apply.

Lips

I've had two main lip products on the go recently: the MAC Satin Lipstick in Mocha | £16.50 | & Lancome Matte Shaker in Vintage Beige | £19.50. Mocha is a comfortable but pigmented and long-last semi-matte lipstick. The colour itself is hard to describe; a sort of pinky-peach brown mid-toned nude. The Lancome Matte Shaker is a unique formula as it's kind of matte but not quite and doesn't feel drying. It's actually warmer and pinker than the name might suggest too!
