Must Have Minis & Travel Essentials

Going on holiday can be a bit of a headache, especially when you use a lot of beauty products... Generally I pick up a set of empty bottles for £1 from Primark and decant as much as possible into those, however with some products it's just not practical and sometimes you just can't resist a cute little mini!

Hair

My shampoo and conditioner will both have to be decanted as I don't think you can get TIGI minis, however a mini dry shampoo is a must have as they take up so much space! I chose a Batiste's in Blush (£1.50). Two products I couldn't be without are the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream (£8.75) and Morocanoil Restorative Treatment (£9.55). I'm so glad these come in 75ml tubes as the curl defining cream is amazing for stopping your natural curls frizzing on the beach and the restorative treatment is a saviour for damaged hair. Finally I got a mini Tresemme Heat Defence Spray (£1.50) which definitely isn't my favourite heat protection spray (I find it a bit sticky) but it's the only one I could find in mini.

Body

I already have a mini body butter from the Body Shop, but I don't think they stock minis other than at Christmas, which is a shame. I also have a mini Palmer's Cocoa Butter (£1.50) as that's my favourite body lotion. I also have a mini Soap & Glory Endless Glove* (£3) which is a light but super-hydrating hand cream. Another thing that's too difficult to decant is shaving foam so I picked up a mini Gilette Satin Care with Olay (£1.50) as I find it really makes shaving gentle and effortless. Of course deodorant is a must! It's also something that can be a bit bulky so I got myself the mini Nivea Pearl and Beauty (£1.19) as it's so fresh and gentle.  I already have a mini Philosophy Candied Pecan Body Scrub, which I won't talk about too much as you can't get it any more but the scent is so lovely, even if it isn't the most summery. Something I have really high hopes for is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ (£17.50). I must admit I'm not great with sun care as I just tan really easily and have only ever burnt once (on my nose...in my garden...in England...seriously...). However I realise that you can cause yourself damage even if it isn't visible, so I picked up a high factor so I don't have to re-apply as much (unless I'm going in the water or something). A much less necessary purchase is Korres Mini Face and Body Set (£8), but it was so cute I couldn't resist. It comes with a Bergamot and Pear Body Milk and a Basil Lemon Shower Gel.

Skincare & Suncare

Also in the Korres set is Milk Proteins Cleansing Emulsion, which sounds interesting as it claims to cleanse, tone and remove eye makeup. I also already have a mini DHC Deep Cleansing Oil (£4.50) as I love this product and cleansing oils are one of the fastest ways to remove makeup, I find. I can't be without a micellar cleansing water so got a 100ml Bioderma Sensibio H20 (£4.80). Moving back to sun care I also picked up the La Roche-Posay Antithelios SPF 50+ Ultra-Light Face Fluid (£17). Now I'm in my 20s I am definitely thinking a little more about preventing and reducing fine lines and a high SPF will help that in the sun. Usually high SPF means caking on some awful, thick white cream, however I'm really hoping this will be light and easy to wear (as it promises). I also have one of the flavours from my 3-Pack of Malibu Flavoured SPF30 Lip Balms (£3.70). Finally I have a little sample of the Facetheory M1 Signature Moisturiser* (£1.75) which is my everyday moisturiser as I find it so balancing on my combination skin, hydrating the dry patches without aggravating the oily parts. I picked up a mini St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub (£1.20) as it's quite hard to find mini face scrubs and they're a bit awkward to decant. Also a lot of people seem to love this so I wanted to give it a go.

Medical & Miscellaneous

I picked up a few boxes of painkillers, just the own brand ones as they're exactly the same as more expensive ones. I also thought this Superdrug Travel First Aid Kit (£6.99) would come in handy. I didn't pick up any travel adapters as I have loads already but if you need any then Wilko do them really cheaply and usually on offer. I got a little bottle of Passionflower Cuticura (£1.20), which is an everyday essential for me even at home but especially when out and about on holiday. I have sensitive teeth so Sensodyne (£1.35) is a must and of course I got a mini bottle of Listerine (£1.49). Finally, I have in here my little mini Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (£19.50 full-sized) from Elle magazine a couple of months back as I think the size will be really handy.

  1. You are so organised with all your minis! I am very much a last minute packer, which is odd, as I am normally super organised about everything else. I will definitely use your post as a reminder (and motivation) to get organised with minis before our holiday in August :) x

  2. I am terrible with this side of things, I have a friend that decants everything into smaller bottles and buys all the mini's, then there is me, taking all my full size products and using up all my husbands luggage allowance :P
I must remember to buy some mini's this year :)

  15. I absolutely love travel minis, and I have such a huge selection! I mainly get most of them from subscription boxes though, which often seem annoying at the time but for holiday's they're the best! x

  20. What a great post! Mini's can be so hard to come by when it comes to certain products, but having the spares bottles are a way to keep them all in check!
