3 European Cities to Visit

I'm sure that those of you who have travelled around Europe or are planning to are well aware of how amazing cities like Barcelona, Paris and Rome are. So instead of telling you about my experience in those places, I'm going to talk about three cities you might not have considered but are well worth a look and also much cheaper than the more well-known destinations.

Budapest

I went to Budapest last year for 4 nights so I'm itching to go back. Although we saw and did a lot in that time there's even more to experience. It sounds cheesy but I loved the 'hop-on-hop-off' bus as an easy way to get around the city ('Buda' is on the hilly side of the Danube, 'Pest' is the flat side). I found it really affordable (it isn't on the Euro) and such a beautiful place. My favourite spots were the Matthias Church (seriously one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in) and Fisherman's Bastion.

Florence

I thought Rome was amazing but I think I'd like to go back to Tuscany first. Florence and Pisa are really close together so you can easily see the sights in both during one trip. If you're a fan of Renaissance architecture and art, Florence is the perfect place to experience these with the Uffizi Gallery (which houses Da Vinci, Botticelli and Michelangelo to name a few), the Cathedral, several museums... Then you can hop over to do more sight-seeing in Pisa. The weather is beautiful in summer and the food is great. Probably the most expensive on my list but well worth visiting!

Dubrovnik

Finally, the city I will be returning to in July: Dubrovnik. I'm honestly so in love with it because it just has everything for me. I'm a pescetarian so I love all the seafood, plus it's in Eastern Europe but just across the way from Italy so there's a definite Mediterranean feel. There's so much to see and do from the city walls to island-hopping. Plus it's by the sea so you can go to the beach for the day then head into the beautiful Old Town around late afternoon. Dubrovnik is definitely getting more hype and I'm glad as it's a beautiful city and is so affordable as it's outside the Euro-zone.

I hope you guys enjoyed seeing something a little different from my blog this week and I will be back to my usual posting schedule tomorrow!

Which European cities are you dying to visit? Which would you recommend?

  7. Some great places to visit and they are all on my list, if I could afford it I would go everywhere and see everything but as I can only afford to go away once a year I think it might take a while, Florence is high on the list :)
