Life Lately #7: Christmas, Festive FOTD & More

I've been kind of rubbish at doing my little fortnightly catch-ups, but Boxing Day seems the perfect time to post a new one!

I've actually started loving Christmas now I don't work in retail, I guess I just find the hysteria surrounding it annoying! I had a lovely day playing around with my new camera and stuffing my face with cheese boards and wine...You can see below my makeup look for the big day (photos taken with the new camera!)

I recently got my eyebrows done at the Benefit Brow Bar. It's been forever but I'm really pleased with my tint and wax. My brows are naturally very asymmetric but the lady did a really good job at evening them out. You can see above how they look with a little tidy up with Benefit's BrowZings.

Another makeup look I've been loving recently is KIKO's Golden Taupe Long-Lasting Stick Eyeshadow with the Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 palette. The shades in the Iconic 2 palette have grown on me a lot - the cooler tones are perfect for this kind of year. I'm constantly using all of my cream eyeshadows for work at the moment as they're so quick and easy. Even just 2 shades of eyeshadow on top of one makes it look as though you've made a real effort when it only took you 5 minutes! You can see my review and swatches of Iconic 2 here and I'll be doing a post on the KIKO sticks very soon...

In terms of what I've been watching; I went to see Mockingjay Part 1 recently. I think it was a big improvement on the book but it remains my least-favourite of the films so far. I think there are major plot holes in the series but the first two films and books were so entertaining it didn't matter. Mockingjay is a lot less action-packed and exciting so the flaws in the series are a little more apparent.

Black Mirror recently had their Christmas Special: White Christmas. I was a little disappointed in the special, as it felt a little muddled. I think they'd have done a better job by sticking to 1 or 2 story lines and really fleshing them out. Though Jon Hamm is always welcome on my TV...Saying that I recently re-watched the 2 series on 4od as my boyfriend hadn't seen them. And let me tell you: they are AMAZING. Some of the best British television of recent years. I won't give too much away, as it's better to go into this series blind, but it takes a look at how technology impacts on modern life.

Finally I have to mention Bad Education. I genuinely only watched the last ever episode and it was so good I've gone back to watch the rest. I'm definitely a little sad it took me so long to pick up on this show but Jack Whitehall and all the kids are fantastic so it's well worth a watch

At the moment my favourite clothes shop has to be Miss Selfridge. Whether it's a party dress or some stylish outerwear; they really are on point right now. They don't have a massive range but everything is so chic and beautiful. You can see some of their stuff in my recent fashion haul.

So that's what I've been up to and enjoying recently! Let me know what you think of the things I've talked about in this post in the comments :)

  6. Love the makeup you're wearing on the picture. Really pretty! I must buy that Kiko stick #04. I have one and I love it. Shame you thought Mocking jay Part 1 was the worst so far. I'm probably going to see it on Wednesday and I hope it's enjoyable enough. :) x
