An Honest Review || Colab Dry Shampoo

Of course, all my reviews are honest but sometimes in a sea of opposing opinions you can wonder if you're a little nuts for just not 'getting' it! This is pretty much how I feel about Ruth Crealy's Colab Dry Shampoo...

I was really excited to see a new, affordable dry shampoo on the market other than Batiste. However I have to say I was really let down! It isn't a huge loss because these were 1/3 off in Superdrug so I got 3 large cans and 2 minis for £6-7. I guess it depends what you want dry shampoo for; if you want something that's pretty much a hair perfume then go for it! There are some lovely fragrances in the range; from the classic, slightly masculine London to my personal favourite the floral, oriental Tokyo.

However personally I want dry shampoo to refresh my hair and make it look like it's not Day 3! And Colab simply didn't do that for me. It says the formula is invisible and whilst it's far less visible than Batiste, if you have dark hair you will still get some white residue. I had to use a huge amount for it to do anything for me; so much so that I used up one of the minis in only two applications! I would consider repurchasing Tokyo just for the fragrance but not really as a dry shampoo in itself.

If you just want your hair to smell nice I'd give these a go because they're affordable and there's a fragrance in there for everyone. If you're fair-haired, it may also be 'invisible' on you. However I think I'll be sticking to Batiste; yes the white residue is far from ideal but it does the main job! Sorry to be so negative but I do think this could be a great product if they developed it to be a lot more heavy-duty.

  1. I've not tried this dry shampoo yet, but I have read more about the scent than the effectiveness which has made me wonder! Will have to see what I think, thanks for the honest post! :)

  3. Such a shame these don't work on your hair like they are supposed to. Dry shampoo for me also is to refresh my hair and stop it from looking greasy! I love Batiste in Dark Brunette as it doesn't leave behind that grey residue :D x

    1. I'll definitely give that one a go - for me fragrance is a bonus but actually making my hair look not greasy is the main point! xx

  4. Also reviewed these products and feel the exact same way! I thought it just did nothing for my hair and I was stood for 5 minutes spraying product trying to get any oil out but found it just stayed greasy. Great review x

  7. In general, I don't like dry shampoos and don't use them but I had a sample of the Colab one so I gave it a try and just like you I don't think it's any better than others ( apart from the fragrance) and didn't do anything for my hair. x

  8. I've heard a lot about these so I'm pleased to read an honest review! I think the one I usually get is superdrug own brand and it is actually coloured Brown so it doesn't whiten my hair but it does tint my fingertips hahah!
    Lovely review!
